Branjita's WIP Custom Figures

I would actually say this is one of the easier custom figures I've ever made (so far). This is definitely within the realm of most people's capabilities!

It's possible to mod it on most likely, but it'd have to be all carved up before it'd sit on Buu and even then, you'd still have to sculpt his tentacle to be much longer and give him a nose.

All that remains is paint. I did the hot glue trick on the forearms after removing them again. Then I cut the things off both of their heads. Then I did the super glue trick to tighten the ankle joints... did the same to my Super Buu as well, not pictured. All I need to do is repaint the boots. It seems like all the forms of Buu (other than fat and skinny) have brown lower boots. Seems like they are identical in every transformation, but I didn't research THAT thoroughly.



Does anyone have any ideas for what I can do with any of these parts?

Great ideas! I never played that game though, so it wouldn't be something I'd want to keep if I did that.

So... I got a couple Gogeta figures from Oldphan because I wasn't satisfied with my SBC one on the left or the bootleg HSCF on the right. The SBC is too large and the bootleg is too small. The UFS is going to end up being Super Saiyan Blue from the DB Super: Broly movie. The HSCF I was only going to adjust via hot water and freezing him. Which I've already done in this photo. I made him look upward and turned his right foot out, because the left was already turned out and it looked silly and didn't stand well with the right foot straight. Hopefully that modification will hold, but if it doesn't, I'll just chop the foot off and glue it back on.


But the more I look at him, the more his shoulder width bothers me. I think at minimum, I might cut the arms off and sculpt his shoulders broader just via adding more vest. However, when I am doing this, I'll have to determine if I'm happy with the scale of Gogeta with my other figures. My guess is: I'm probably not. I probably want him closer to the size of the UFS figure. So the other problem with him, is his chest muscles/pecs are very short in height. I probably won't end up doing this, but if I was to cut him in half horizontally at his pecs and add maybe 1/8 inches of material, it would probably fix this problem. If I did that, I would also make his "love handles" bigger, so he wouldn't look so skinny. I'd also sculpt some extra sash material to give him a slight amount of height too. In all likelihood, I will only do the vest, because I really don't want to have to repaint all of the skin I don't think. But you never know... I might end up doing all this stuff. I like Gogeta as a character and I've been unhappy about there not being a really good 5 inch scale one.




And as for the SSB Gogeta, I want to keep this custom somewhat simple, because I don't want to deal with all the problems of customizing UFS figures--brittle arms, for example. Also, as a general FYI, in case anyone doesn't know this, the only great UFS figure is the Piccolo, even though his forearms are too long and his hip pegs are too long. His shoes look proper and his heads/faces are sculpted beautifully. (The body for the SS Vegeta is alright, but that's just about all I can say about UFS that is very positive). Anyway, Gogeta here has typical UFS sculpting problems. His face looks terrible and his feet are tiny--little bitty Goku boots complete with Goku's sculpted stripe down the middle! Like most of the UFS figures, he has a disturbing lack of biceps and one of the forearms has the typical UFS problem--the plastic is ripping at the socket on the front and back. My Piccolo I customized years ago had this problem REALLY bad straight from the package, brand new. I'm surprised this loose one doesn't have two messed up forearms. I currently have the messed up one super glued back together. I might just coat it in flat clear to get rid of the glossy glue appearance. I'd love to make this custom as lazy as I can, but given the inaccuracies and problems I have with the sculpt, I don't think I can get by with making my life easy. I absolutely have to resculpt the face and hair because the face is terrible and the hair is growing out of his forehead. If I can get by without having to repaint all of the skin, I will. But if I can't, then I will probably resculpt the biceps as well, before repainting the skin. Honestly, I'll probably end up repainting the entire figure, but I don't really want to. And... I will probably lengthen the wrist bands since they are a Goku design instead of Gogeta design, currently. He'll probably end up something like this... but with a better face since I don't want to waste a bunch of time in Photoshop "sculpting" a face. I'll likely resculpt portions of the hair because it's kind of goofy looking currently. I'm unwilling to resculpt the pants since I've never been fond of doing that, nor all that talented at it. Obviously, I'd sculpt him a set of normal looking Gogeta shoes, because if nothing else, that's the biggest aesthetic flaw of the UFS figures (excluding Piccolo... and perhaps Frieza):



Those of you who know me well, or who have been following my work for years/decades, probably won't be surprised if I end up doing additional work to these figures. I like Gogeta as a character... loved the Janemba movie... and I have been disappointed in the lack of a perfect Gogeta figure for 5 inch scale for a very long time. The biggest improvement I want to make to the UFS is the face though. It is simply not good.
