lastly, with all the other Goku bits i had from my previous insane Goku missions, my last mission was to get an anime accurate normal DBS goku so i cobbled everything together and painted the gi - 3 times!!
it's so hard to match the colour as i see it on a screen with the paints i have.. it was far too red at first , also the exact matching boot colour eluded me, of all the figuarts Goku boots ive painted this has been the hardest and most annoying!consequently they are also the worst, but maybe i'll try again sometime..maybe...
once again ( and for the final time on the board, as ive said it enough now) i want to express how much i think Bandai / Tamashi / sh figuarts F###n suck.
They totally suck for not being able to get something as simple as a colour correct for these figures. They have consistently got Goku's colours wrong since the first 'manga colours' release of SS goku, and i, for some pyschological problem i must have, have had to do it myself! lol.
The decent releases have been the SDCC SS Goku , Saiyan awakening, saiyan on earth and the the best looking figures theyve done are probably the UI / UIS Gokus - but after how many releases??..they couldnt even get SS goku right the second time round after about 10 years, i waited 10 years for an updated decent general release offical figure and the colour was absolute trash.
yes, ive struggled to get the accurate colours, but i am just a fan making the best of the materials i have, they have access to a cornacopia of coloured plastics and if they really tried could probably find some kind of pantone colour scheme that the animators use, that they could probably get an exact match from - or alternatively use their eyes!?!?! FFS. i really dont understand and i really think it and they are an unfunny joke.
Sorry i dont mean to be negative about figuarts, because they are very good really, but they make way to many simple mistakes ( height/scale, head size, colours, accessories etc.). ive been a fan of DB for nealy 30 years now, bought all different sorts of figures with varying quality, and yes SHF are the best of those, but the mistakes they make are ridiculous, and quite honestly have made me give up collecting them - apart from the GOKU's!
BUT ANYWAY, heres what ive ended up with:

I like your Android Saga Gohan a whole lot better than the one Tamashii actually produced! The color on your latest Goku looks spot on too.

After i mentioned it in the upcoming figuarts thread to Ascat , it got me wanting to just go ahead and do the Goku first super saiyan appearance figuarts customisation 2 things made me do this : 1. i managed to get a third off of what the seller of the demoniacal fit tenacious martialist was asking so i got it at a little over original retail price, so even though not ideal it wasnt as bad as it could have been and 2. i took a chance as i wanted to see how good the bootlegg of legendary SS Goku to get an idea of what the official figure is like - i didnt get the official because i was never sure of that figure - the shortness , no neck and too wide hips put me off it. so with both those things in hand and after a lot more effort than it should have needed i eventually fulfilled my goal - now why did it take so much effort youre thinking surely its just a bit of a kit bash taking some things off one n putting them on another? well no not for me because the middle peg snapped on the tenacious martialist!!!!!  i already had one and that torso pops off the legs fine, no problem whatsoever, done it a few times and its totally fine - 1st time with this new one and it snapped - i was so pleased!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! not. luckily from the previous Goku missions i had a spare pair of goku 2.0 legs - so after much boiling and pulling things apart and other things snapping ( great!) and me really regretting i had started it when i did, i finally managed to cobble together a working goku. never again LOL!!
scenes of fixing - didnt think to take any earlier as i was all like 
after fixing pegs and legs, cutting shirt sleeves + belt and painting boots...
notice i was going to leave an unripped left leg BUT that left leg is slightly longer than the ripped version so i opted to go back to the ripped version for the final version:
i think Gokus hair was more golden yellow after the inital transformation but i was going for when hes fighting Frieza again n kicking his ass so i went for the platinum blonde. ( oh and dont ask about the neck pegs - blu tack is a universal neck peg  )
Heres 3 Frieza fight versions - 1st transformed , more ripped gi and final fight look
i'm glad ive finally scratched this itch - all thats left now is for Tamashii to reveal one in the next month or so proving ive wasted my time and money!

that is awesome, it looks great. just like how it looks on the anime. (its hard to see on the pic) but its way better than my own custom.

ive done most of my customs on SHF and a lot was on the 1.0's years ago, though i dabbled in some goku modifications on 2.0's not so long ago, and the thing is IF youre careful you should be OK
The main thing is to boil / warm stuff up BUT you have to be mindful what youre heating up.. like the plastic on the sleeves of a goku i feel would warp and be toast if you warmed them too long and probably the chest plates aswell but the rest of it should be ok. it is stressful doing it though because youre just going in blind if you havent done it before... getting the boots off a goku feels the weirdest becasue i had to take pliers to them and use strength to rip those suckers off.
The only thing ive broken taking 2.0's apart - apart from THAT peg - is one arm joint, and it was probably due to a mix of impatience and not heating it up enough.
speaking of THAT peg it was the mid section peg that broke and i think it only broke due to it being a demoniacal fit..
They are excellent in terms of copying the mold or however they do it, but its obvious that the materials arent quite on par... when i had both of them in parts ( DF and SHF legs) i could tell the difference, the DF is a bit more brittle, not as strong and its just slightly different. This must be why the peg snapped, but it wasnt necessarily the peg itself to blame, i think it was the fitting of the peg into the part it fits into, it was obviously a tighter fit than the other DF tenacious martailist that i have. Anyway apart from other little things along the way what made it more hassle to fix was the fact that the waist into torso peg of the UI sign is very slightly different to the standard 2.0 Goku, i reckon its to accomodate the torn gi and sash better - when i found this out i was roughly about as pleased as when the peg snapped!!!   .... as i knew it wasnt going to be as easy as i thought to fix. |

heres a few pics of the bootlegg legendary SS head on its body and the awakening body.. i thought the hair was too big at first but looking at some pics from that part of the story Gokus hair is kinda big! so i think it goes well on all the bodys

i dont think i mentioned how good the legendary super saiyan bootlegg is, i was quite impressed. There was some not so great boot painting and the orange wrist pegs arent great and i needed to put some superglue on the arm balls [lol] to bulk them out to fit in the sockets so they wouldnt fall out so easy, but apart from that it seems to be not too bad at all. i might consider getting an offical one at some point but for now ive took advantage of having the boot n painted it a bit and scuffed it up n put some blood on it aswell
