Hi guys! I had not created a thread for my custom figures. As you know I mainly customize Yamcha lol and as you may remember I left pending my Baseball Taitans Yamcha which I'm planning on finishing soon. Today I wanted to share my WIP Figuarts Yamcha. Reaper's awesome Yamcha triggered making mine I'm just sick and tired of waiting for him. This is WORK IN PROGRESS lol, so I wanted to share my advance. I used my SS Goku as base, so he is no longer part of my collection. Yesterday I ordered apoxie sculpt for the hair, chest and lower pants, so I'm stuck for a week until I can advance any longer . In the meantime I removed the undershirt and tried matching the skin color so it didn't look too weird. So I wanted to ask, what you think about the Gi color, do you think is a bit too red? I started painting it without worrying about it, but when I finished I thought it was too red lol. The other thing, do you think this face works for him? I mean he looks a bit too mad lol; I need to buy Regular Goku to have him back in my collection, so I can use that face instead. I think he would look like this... a very serious/mad Yamcha version (which wasn't too common to see in him)... but I'm not sure. This is a quick/crappy thing I did on MS Paint at work lol, (I'm not too skilled with Photoshop/Illustrator, etc) to see how he would/will look finished. What do you think? all thoughts/critics will be welcomed because I want him to Rock!

Good start. He is a tad bit red, but I wouldn't worry about it. Very minimal. Though you may have to repaint him when you paint his pants at the ankles, so maybe add an orangy color. I always th ink of Yamcha with bigger eyes but those will do if you can't make them bigger. Still, nice start and not too much to do. Finish the Baseball one!

Looks like it will be awesome. I do think the gi is a little red, should be just a tad bit more orange and his face looks fine

If you want to make the ultimate Yamcha (I probably won't even make a figuarts one, so it certainly won't be made by me) there are some changes you'll need to make. You'll definitely need to sculpt them. Do you have a dremel? You can get a manicure tool off ebay from China/Hong Kong for about $20 if not. It's like a weak one, but it does the trick, just takes longer. That undershirt has got to be removed! It'd be good if you added sculpt to get rid of how goofy the shirt looks. Regarding the face, Yamcha doesn't have as wide of eyes as Goku. On Goku, barely any eyebrow extends over his eyes, particularly on the inside close to his nose. Yamcha has narrower eyes with more eyebrow length overhand, so you need to leave the eyebrows alone, but make the eyes less wide on the inside and outside edges, which is super easy with apoxie. With the manicure tool, you should be able to remove the boot lines/carve the shoes. For the pants, you need to actually carve off the boots some. I would use an x-acto knife for that, make them skinny, and then just sculpt them with apoxie. Don't forget your www.walmart.com/ip/28378835?wmlspartner=wlpa&adid=22222222227020224811&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=34449538741&wl4=&wl5=pla&wl6=60069590341&veh=semThat's the same type I wear, but I paid a lot freaking more than that in 2002! That's more like it!! www.amazon.com/Nebo-4178-X-lens-Safety-Glasses/dp/B00577US7G/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1401817178&sr=8-3-fkmr1&keywords=Nebo+Tools+X-Lens+Clear+Anti-Fog+Glasses Sheesh what a rip off lol

... ... I'm going to go to Walmart now and see if they have these in the actual store. Going to get myself a new pair and a pair of the tinted ones for when I'm outside doing yard crap. $8 to save myself another $700 hospital trip = bargain

Thanks Branjita I actually do not have a dremel but I can look for one on a local store. I removed the undershirt as much as I could with my x-acto knife to have it ready just to place some apoxie and sculpt the chest that's why it looks goofy now; but I have to sit and wait for the apoxie to come so I can advance on that, as well on the pants and hair, but It hasn't even been shipped . I see the eye detail now, and yeah that looks more accurate for him (that art is just badass!). Once my apoxie comes I will try that! and see how it goes. Regarding the pants, that's exactly what I had planned thanks for the pointers!

Dremels are quite expensive, and while I own one, I don't like using it. It is too heavy and too powerful for small tasks like figures EXCEPT for when I want to quickly rip some stuff apart. I would recommend a manicure tool instead. Using a dremel on dried apoxie is a bad idea, because it's too powerful, and too heavy to hold for delicate tasks. I wouldn't consider a dremel an essential tool for DBZ figure customization. It's optional. A manicure tool should be mandatory IMO. Same one I have. You'll have to pay more to get one that isn't pink. www.ebay.com/itm/New-100-240V-Pen-Shape-Electric-Nail-Drill-Art-Manicure-File-Tool-6-Bits-PINK-/321422719860?pt=US_Nail_Care&hash=item4ad6497b74 Mine is pink. The black one I bought Adrenaline was about $20. You can buy extra tips from some sellers in smaller sizes, and I recommend that, because the tips it comes with are quite large. The extra tips can be had for about $6 for a set. The cord is very short. I recommend also buying an extension cord if you don't already have one. Get an extension cord from Walmart or whereever. I wear my safety glasses and a dust mask when using it. Sometimes I run a vacuum and hold the hose between my knees so I don't have to wear a mask. The mask is more necessary when using it on apoxie than plastic because of the dust. If you use a dremel, you need to wear a mask no matter what, because it will throw stuff and chunks everywhere and you'll end up needing to take a shower after using it... When I do dremel work... I try to do a bunch of figures all in the same hour, because it makes a horrible mess. The manicure tool I can just hold over a trash can and most of the dust floats into it... "most" of it... The cheapest place to get Apoxie Sculpt is Amazon. You can get a pound for $16 with free shipping if you have at least 19 more dollars worth of qualifying stuff in your cart. That's the price for white. Amazon has some other colors for $19, but not my favorite... pink. I get that directly from Aves, but it'll run you about $27 if I remember right, including shipping.

BTW, make sure to read the ad and look at the pic for the manicure tool. Sellers sell the European plug version and it looks identical, is usually listed cheaper, and if you get the wrong plug to fit your country's outlets, you're out of luck.

FYI, Walmart didn't have those specific safety glasses in the store. Considering they are so comfortable, I'm not buying some other type. I'll buy some on walmart.com for that steal of a price.

Here's a small and quick update to my Figuarts Yamcha. I gave him a new paint job. It's more orangy now, and not too red. I painted the rest of the shirt (shoulders) but those are not pictured. So I'm officially stuck, and cannot move forward until I receive my apoxie lol... pending would be sculpting the chest, make the hair, make the lower pants, finish his shoes, add the scars and add King Kai logo on front and turtle on the back. I didn't care for the leg swap with Piccolo, since I won't necesarily have Regular Goku (when I get it) standing next to Yamcha, and might even have them in their fighting poses so... I think I will try Branjitas' suggestion about the eyes, but most likely I will swap this face with Regular Goku's in the end. This will look better for Goku. Hopefully a local store will have him in stock this weekend so I may get him tomorrow. Looks cool though, but still a bit too mad.

Not bad there. What paint are you using? I ask because it looks glossy already. Did you add clear?
Also, are you going to sculpt more shirt above the belt?

Thanks Adrenaline! actually it looked glossy because the paint had not dried entirely but I applied a paint sealer which gave him a matte finish, and now looks great Some more WIP pics. Goku is finally part of my collection and I decided to steal his serious face to use it. shifftymking thanks man! I actually ended up using Regular Goku´s face instead. This face rocks! I´ll probably work a bit more on the X scar to make the edges more pointy, but overall looks nice. Scale is not perfect but honestly that doesn´t bother me right now lol Tomorrow I will finally get my apoxie and work on what is pending. I cannot express the anxiety I have to finish this. I am definitely excited for this and can´t wait to see him finished. I need to get the symbols as well. Let me know what you think
