Thanks everybody currently still working on him. I've gotten many great suggestions here to make small and yet important improvements like adding more shirt above his belt, matching the skin color of the chest a bit more, and making his gi stand out more from the chest. These will be worked on and will share my improvements soon; yesterday I only did some small tweaks to his hair which made me happier, I think looks even better. I'll post pics soon. Thanks again everybody for the comments and suggestions

Hey guys! I'm sharing another pic. Here's what changed: Shoes finally trimmed, and got some great suggestions from Adrenaline and The Great Saiyaman to make the gi stand out a bit more from the chest. I added a tiny bit of apoxie above his shoulders, just where the gi starts, and I also added shirt above his belt. I based on the pic on the left provided by Branjita for you to see the resemblence on the shirt's sculpt. It may need a few trimming here and there, but overall I do think he looks way better like that. Thanks for suggesting that. I repainted the chest as well to a more accurate color I guess? not sure but I personally like it There's a bit glosyness on some parts of the Gi as you can see, but that will be removed with the sealer. I think is pretty much done, expect for his hair from the top and back; which I've been lazy to do it lol I'll definitely use Goku's left salute hand to sculpt his Sokidan hand. I'll use the Instant Transmission from Goku for the right Sokidan hand. So this is now oficially my last WIP pic (I said that that like 2 pics ago ) but once he's done I will post pictures from the sides and back and more. Either way, I really really really love how he looks in my collection . Let me know what you guys think!

The hair is just perfect! The shirt above the waist is alright. Could be thicker, but you painted it already, so no worries. That's why when I post a WIP, it's always after I sculpt something new, so any recommended changes are easier to do, and then I'll take another WIP eventually when everything is sanded. I never paint anything in the WIP process. Only between my final WIP and final production pics. That way, it highly differentiates my WIPs to my final pics....creating a greater wow-factor on the final result. Just a little tip for you in the future. If you end up needing paint color advice, I would just paint a specific part and ask if it looks good enough, rather than the whole figure. But speaking of that, you're going to hate me, but I think you need to either paint the rest of his skin to match his chest.....or sand his chest down some, to get the layers of paint off and repaint it to best match the rest of his skin. I would do the 2nd idea to save you time and effort and maintain easier poseability. You could even try to give the chest some reddish shading like his arms have? Maybe that's what's missing. Still, he's almost done and looking very nice, juan.

I think the additions you made at the waist are sagging a bit too much and he's a little too skinny down there, so that would benefit from adjustment, but it looks so much better than it did unmodified! I'm curious to see how the hair turns out once you sculpt the rest of it. Most people haven't noticed you've only "put up a fence" around the front of his head . Do you own an electric manicure tool? If you do, some sanding would be good in some areas, but you'd have to wait about a week for the paint to dehydrate enough for you to sand it into dust rather than peel it off. If I paint anything that is a WIP, I water the paint way down so it will dry in fewer days. Sometimes it does help to paint it so you can see your mistakes. The little blobs on yours will take a few days to dehydrate completely unless you basically cook him underneath a hot light bulb for a few hours and then, still, wait a day or two. To make the chest match better, water down some pumpkin or tangerine orange paint, put some on your brush, tap the brush on a paper towel to take most of the paint out, and then carefully brush the areas close to lines you've carved. There's one thing I don't like about what you've done and it's the scars. His scars aren't black. They are the color of lips (dark flesh/pink).

thanks for the suggestions Branjita and Adrenaline I'll definitely work those and post my final pics soon. Totally agree on the scars Bran; they were starting to bug me a bit so I'll make them more natural and with the accurate color. LOL "a fence" it's actually on the sides as well haha but yeah I guess it can be called like that for now . I still have the paint I used for the chest Adam, so I'll try to match the skin, and see how it looks.

I don't think this counts as a wip pic haha, I took this picture a couple or more days ago but forgot to share it. Here's my WIP next to my old and very first custom Yamcha. I used to like him very much, but now it looks pretty bad lol, looks like he hasn't taken a shower in days you can even see his lower pants being a different red tone. I didn't use apoxie for that one, instead I used a regular clay that I found in a local store, which suffered from cracking. I used that one for my baseball Taitans Yamcha too, so I will have to redo that part so it can look better. His shoes look awful and I don't even remember what I used for the belt haha. I don't know I guess I felt a bit nostalgic with it, and took the pic for comparison. So still working on Yamcha guys, you will see updated and final pics soon. I went to bed yesterday at 2:00 a.m. working on him lol And started doing some tests on this guy as well. This is barely started but all I know is I'm excited for this too. I will try to follow the advices given on previous custom Tiens to make him as accurate as possible. Want to focus on making him buffed. I think Android Saga is where he was more muscular than any other sagas, so this will be a bigger challenge than Yamcha.

Well, you've definitely improved. We all have our "firsts" when it comes to customs...Tien is going to be a lot work, but I know you can pull it off. Good luck matching Cleve's lol then again, it gives you something to work for.

I want to give you some guidance so you don't have to learn from mistakes. Let's learn from my mistakes instead lol. For Tien I would suggest you actually sculpt him shirtless first, and then put the sash on him. It will be much easier to sculpt him in a believable way, because you won't have to fight the tendency to carve into the chest when outlining the sash if that makes sense. I learned that from this guy on youtube: www.youtube.com/user/clayguy1 At the point you're at right now, you're going to have a hell of a time sculpting a chest on him, because you should have trimmed the purple shirt off him first with an x-acto knife. I don't recommend painting until you're finished sculpting, because if you have to sand things it can cause rough texture to build up. If you do use paint before you're done sculpting, only use enough to be able to see where your mistakes in sculpting/sanding are. I must have painted the head of that recent Krillin of mine at least 10 times before finally getting the apoxie completely sanded satisfactory into the plastic of his head. What a chore. You'll definitely need to sculpt the eyebrows and also sculpt the shoes. Piccolo's brown paper sack elf shoes don't look right simply repainted. You're making some good progress here, but remember, you have to think through and plan things in the proper order to customize best. Specific to Tien made from only Piccolo: First step: tear down. Cut off everything you don't need. Second step: resculpt/blend things that need adjustment. These would be things like the pants, arms, chest, antenna removal. Third step: after sanding all of that stuff and getting it blended in, you can now sculpt your accessories. Things like the sash, eyeball, leggings/baggy sock things. Forth step: sanding and blending. Fifth step: If you think you're finished, now you can start painting a base coat over everything. Let that dry and make sure you don't need to sand areas more. If you do need to sand areas more, either do it while this thin layer of paint is pretty fresh, or wait several days, because if you don't, acrlic paint will stretch and peel. Hope that helps! I don't want you to have to go through such a hard time, and you're setting yourself up for a hard time!

Everything that Bran said, I reiterate and agree. At this point, I don't see you cutting off the sash you already sculpted, but you will DEFINITELY need to resand it and paint it after finagling with sculpting the chest......too bad you can't sculpt the chest over Piccolo's shirt....or could you? What do you think, Branjita? Then you could just thicken the sash you already made. Also, add a little apoxie on the forehead to make the eye appear indented; and of course, sculpt the brows. Continuing, be sure to cut down the sash on the shoulder since it shouldn't cover so much of it. Right now, it almost looks like a sleeve and it should look sleeveless. You probably have an easier time carving hard apoxie, but I always recommend doing it while it's soft, especially muscles, but we'll see how it turns out. I like the bulkness you got. I know you can paint one layer to see sculpting mistakes, but it should be one very thin layer. Just don't paint anymore until everything is sculpted, sanded, and done, or else it'll start to look clunky when you realize you have to keep painting it. Like this. I sculpted, sanded, and did everything it needed, then painted it all at once.

Adrenaline, I wouldn't ever try sculpting naked flesh on top of clothing. You'll just end up with a fat, unnatural looking creature. Speaking of which, I watched 300 Rise of an Empire the other day.
