At this point I have lost all hope of them releasing Great Saiyaman Gohan, which is a shame because that would've been an awesome release with all the alternate faces it could have & poses we could make I can already imagine the mold. The old goku arms (with atleast fixed shoulders) but instead black, Vegito's boots, new legs, reused body from SGSS goku alongside a new longer 'skirt' part, and a new belt mold. That's it. I don't really wanna see the full saiyaman with the red cape, but that would be cool too.

I wouldn't be so sure..........let's not forget, the Dragon Ball S.H.Figuarts lines came about as a result of Dragon Ball Kai. Kai started airing in Japan back in April 2009, and having been a big fan of the series since 2000 I was quick to jump on it! Only DB figures I owned before Kai were the Medicom Real Action Heroes, which started in July 2008 and ended the same year (Medicom were premature and prior to Kai, the level of hype for collectibles didn't exist so many lines failed).
The original Japanese airing for Kai ran from April 2009 - March 2011, which was when Toei decided to drop Kai in favour of SJ's latest hype machine 'Toriko'. Notice how the regular releases (Picolo, Goku & Gohan) suddenly changed to web exclusives in late 2011 (SSJ Vegeta, Trunks, etc.). This was a direct result of that. Toei, Shueisha, Bandai, etc. probably thought they could milk more money from a new series, but after a 3 year run Toriko was dropped due to poor home video and merchandise sales (in comparison to DBK). Even the Toriko SH Figuarts were cancelled. Kai was then given a second chance with the Buu Saga.
The Buu saga ran from April 2014 to June 2015, which funnily enough is the same year we had the return of our first regular release in 5 years (SSJ Awakening Goku).
The existence of SH Figuarts is no coincidence. It's tied closely to the ongoing success of the franchise, which at the moment is RoF, Super and the array of popular arcade & DS games. Once this comes to an end (and I pray it doesn't), it will result in the end of this figure line. As old school fans our best bet is to embrace everything new, to ensure we continue to be treated to the old!

As old school fans our best bet is to embrace everything new, to ensure we continue to be treated to the old! I just wanted to add to this that the brand S.H. Figuarts started in 2008. The brand itself is relatively young and has only recently started exploding across not only DB but all series. We see more and more variety of series and characters than ever before because the brand is now well recognized and expanding. Not only that but adult figure collecting as a whole is much more mainstream than it was back when the line first started. 2008 was also the year when Figma was started and look at it now. As a collector these are truly great times to be involved in the hobby. The Figuarts brand is only going to keep on expanding, encompassing more and more licenses and raking in more and more money. In regards to DB, they'll milk the series dry which is very good news.

I believe years & years from now the line will eventually evolve into something more advanced, as new tooling techniques are implemented, etc. So the term "Figuarts" might be retired some time down the road, since the things we'll be buying technically won't even be Figuarts anymore, but something better (maybe a term like MasterArts, or better yet, DragonArts, a line solely dedicated to all things Dragon Ball and nothing else). It wouldn't make sense to classify these future figures in the same category with the dated molds we've been receiving up until now (and SWA Goku just proved that the old articulation techniques are showing their age and simply won't cut it as the years go by). Case in point, anyone remember Tamashii's D-Arts line? That came & went (RIP to their MegaMan X license), as well eventually with Figuarts but not for several several more years

Bandai's D-Arts was supposed to be mainly for video game characters. It was a sub line of Figuarts, but they couldn't really justify it being its own line anymore. So, it was officially absorbed into the main Figuarts line. It wasn't to do with engineering, articulation, or changing how the figures are made.
I don't think they will start dividing up Figuarts by license. If they haven't done it already with Kamen Rider, I'm not sure they will for Dragonball. If anything, they have simplified everything under Figuarts more than separated.

Ever try removing the helmet, replacing the hands, etc? It's a pain in the ass, for me at least. That tooling setup was extremely awkward. If they released that in 2015 then people would be like wtf tamashii

As @prodigy said, this is the start of the line, why would they raise prices, improve paint application, improve articulation, introduce Dragon Ball GT, Dragon Ball, and Dragon Ball Super, and then just leave the line in two years?

They have done this, already, with improved versions of some Kamen Rider Figuarts like Black and Shadowmoon. But, they aren't creating entire new lines just for those improvements. And, Bandai didn't merge D-Arts with Figuarts because of changes to articulation. Bandai doesn't seem to want to create tons of different lines. Their actions, so far, have supported that.

I wasn't trying to be a buzz kill btw. I was just stating that the future of Figuarts is tied to the success of the license. We have only started getting Avengers and Star Wars figures recently because of the the movie hype......Both of these franchises currently have movies scheduled until 2019. These figures will most likely continue for the next 3-4 years with volumes reducing and some becoming web exclusives in the lull between films. Dragon Ball got it's resurgence in 2009, with a few lulls in between. We've got a guaranteed anime schedule until 2017, followed by a potential new film. If after this Super is considered to be a flop however, due to poor home media sales, etc. and Toei ends solicitation, then it could well spell the end for Dragonball Figuarts. I hope that doesn't happen, but in order for it not to everyone needs to buy the blu-rays, dvd's when they're out!!

I don't get why another reissue son gohan? They could at least change the suit color and add a goten head with it lol Goten will require a whole new mold. Unlike Gohan, he has smaller body, blue undershirt, belt and non-piccolo-like shoes. So basically, the Kid Goku with blue undershirt, updated faces, and an SS head, right?

They are releasing manga Gohan, again, because people will continue to buy him. Simple as that, lol.
But, if they can keep reissuing a figure that has already paid off its tooling costs and is giving them more money to put towards newer and better figures, I am all for it. Same with SS Goku and Piccolo.
If they were going to use the Kid Goku body for Goten it would need new lower legs, arms, upper chest, head, and belt. So, it would practically need to be an entire new figure. :-/

If we don't get a confirmation or at least a hint of an acknowledgment of a little bit of a possible interest in a future Nappa release sometime in 2016, then all hope is lost. It's not happening.

This was a great year of figuarts collecting. Hoping 2016 will be just as good, the feeling of opening your box and finding the package inside it.. I hope most people know what I am talking about. An exclusive feeling that we all should feel, especially for the web exclusive ones.
