Thanks! I'm really pleased with the scaling. It's a pity I'm basically having to make almost all the characters from DB in 5 inch scale, but luckily these smaller ones can mostly be achieved with Chara Puchi heads and Bandai America 1995 bodies or DWC bodies. I'll need to work on Yamcha soon, but he's going to be a lot of work compared to some of these other figures that are 90% done.

Mercenary Tao (Tao Pai Pai)Difficulty: For my portion, 8/10; for Adrenaline 's portion, I'd assume probably 10/10 This was another figure Adam did the sculpting on for me in 2014 to 2016 while I did some design work for him. This was a big one! I'm really glad and thankful that Adam agreed to do the sculpting work on this one for me, as this was quite a lot of work for him. But his custom was one of my favorite custom's of his, and he sculpts clothes so much better than I do, so I really wanted one like his. I was doing some pretty difficult, time consuming work for him in exchange, so he agreed. In 2014, I provided him the Chara Puchi Tao head, and I provided him the Mystic Gohan body already cut down to the size I wanted him. I shortened the legs and reattached them. I used my dremel and took off the shoulder pads and sanded under the arms on the torso so his arms could hopefully go closer to his sides. I think I glued some craft foam onto it to act as something Adam could sculpt on top of for making his robe. I modified the Chara Puchi head's sculpt a bit, but Adam still had to do more work on it. If I remember right, I removed the eyebrows and mustache, and drew where I wanted the eyes to be and what shape I wanted them to be. I think I trimmed his nose too. I mailed it all to him, and he got to work on it. Once he finished the sculpt, he did the base coats of every color on him. He looked pretty similar to Adam's Tao, just without the symbol on his shirt, the sealer, and the black latches on his shirt. He was basically done, but I like shading figures too much, so I did more work.
Here's Adam's custom next to the earliest work in progress pic of my Tao (that I can find) with mostly just Adam's work on it still. I'm showing this just to show you all how much work he did, as well as how much I changed it over the past couple of weeks.
I ended up repainting all the black clothing, because I discovered that Tao Pai Pai actually wears dark purple pants and sleeves in the anime. It's a detail that my brain (and probably most people's brains) lies about--that he's wearing black. It's the same reason most people (myself included) think Future Trunks is wearing a blue jacket, but it's actually purple... Anyway, I ended up repainting almost every single thing except the shoes. I even repainted the underside of his robe white, since I saw in the anime that it is white. Thankfully I discovered I have the same red and pink paints that Adam used, so I was super lucky and didn't have to repaint every little pink and red detail. I dremeled the joints on the arms hoping that they wouldn't lose paint when used. Once I assembled everything and epoxied the figure together, I was too nervous to move the arms after all the time I spent on this figure, so I didn't bother to try them too much. The shoulder sockets are just too tight. The symbol on his shirt (front and back) is from the sheet of stickers I designed (and still sell on ebay). I tried to blend them into the figure with some paint. I probably should have just tried making a stencil out of the KILL YOU! on the back, but I didn't think about it till it was too late. Once I got the symbols on and blended the paint, I finished clearcoating everything and he was finished.

Gohan from Bojack UnboundDifficulty: For my portion, 3/10; for Adrenaline 's portion, I'd assume probably 3/10 Adam did some of the sculpting and painting on this for me in 2014 while I did some design work for him. I remember he and I both had the same opinion about this figure--just get it done; there are better characters to make than this. I like the Bojack movie a lot, but it doesn't hold a candle to Cell Saga as far as Gohan is concerned, so I just wanted to make it without causing myself a lot of misery. I looked back at my WIP topic, and the only notable thing I found was that I wanted to make this one a happy one, and that I sculpted the neck on it. The body was a SS3 Goku if I remember right... and I have no idea what product line it was from. I do remember he came on a small base with lightning bolts on it. The head is a Chara Puchi Goku head. I believe Adam sculpted some shirt modifications and I know he did all of the head modifications to turn it into Gohan. He also fully painted the figure as far as base coats as concerned. Like so much of the other stuff I've been finishing, this has just sat in a container with bubble wrap on it, waiting to be finished for almost ten years. I ended up not liking the face, so I looked at screenshots from the movie and repainted the face to match the scene where Gohan is in the vehicle sending him to another part of the planet/stage/whatever. I then shaded and repainted everything else except for the boots. Adam did a perfect job on the boots and I didn't want to mess them up, so I simply clear coated them.
I was okay with this body being a bit taller, because we know Gohan is older in that movie than he is in Cell Saga, but I don't know how much older. I considered him being taller okay. It's a lot of trouble shortening legs and blending apoxie into plastic. I may have intended on his head being swappable with the other two bodies, but it doesn't quite fit right. I honestly don't mind, as this Gohan will never be on the same shelf as them. This time I finally took a picture of what the figure looked like when Adam finished it, so it could be in my Before and After shot.

Man both of these are SO good! I’ve always envied your painting ability - it’s so unique and adds so much depth / texture. I’ve also always wanted to know how you go about sculpting faces. Did you carve Gohan’s mouth and then just clean up the edges with sculpt?Sanding??

Thanks Dakota! Using these as practice to reteach myself painting has been really helpful for me. I can already tell that my ability to paint is better this morning than it was yesterday--I'm figuring out how to get back into the zone and paint more with my "mind's eye(s)" instead of my eyes. You'll hopefully be able to see that when looking at Guldo's armor soon, because the stripes on them were done much quicker than you're probably guess. They're not perfect, but I remembered how to paint like I did back when I made Burter about halfway through them. Anyway, this Gohan figure already had a smirk sculpted in, and because of the way it looked, it seemed like I could just paint the open mouth directly on the face and make it look right. I started with opaque red, painted black on top, cleared it, and then mixed some black with my clear and painted the top half of his mouth with that to make it look deeper, glossier black. That's why it visually has a bit of a 3D quality, because it's kind of a shadow. Normally I would have sculpted such a thing on the face, but because this figure was so far along, it was too late to change the mouth sculpt as well as the neck/head issues. The head is slightly off center and slightly tilted, but I didn't want to take an X-acto knife to either one. Overall, I'm not thrilled with how this one turned out, but it's done, and there are a LOT of better things I can be working on.

Guldo
Difficulty: For my portion, 5/10; for Adrenaline 's portion, I'd assume probably 5/10
I'm not 100% sure, but I think Adam helped me with this figure in 2014 or 2016 in exchange for some design work I did for him. I used a DWC bootleg Guldo head and hands, arms from something (that I can't remember), a WCF Dodoria body (that I believe Adam did the resculpting work on), and I engineered the arms to be articulated. I believe Adam did the base coats of paint on it, and I fully detailed and repainted him. To finish him off, I applied one of the stickers I designed (that I still sell on ebay).
Someday I'll need to finish my Recoome, Captain Ginyu, and the other Jeice I started.

Thanks for the compliment!
I do have some work-in-progress customs started for all of them, but they are honestly very, very, very, very low on my priority list. All three are also a terribly large amount of work too. I think my lowest priority customs I've started are Neiz, Doore, Salza, Future Gohan, and 13 year old Future Trunks. I saw them when I was digging through bags of WIP customs and was like nahhhhhh.
I'm not 100% sure what I will work on next, but ideally, I want to finish the customs that are just waiting on their paint jobs to be finished and very minor sculpting work. I know I have a Tien, SS Goku, and SS2 Gohan like that.
I would like to start a few new customs too, but they all require a lot of sculpting, and I need to work my way up to that again. I'm still rusty, and this type of stuff flows wayyyyy better when skills are really fluid. I'm not ready to, for example, jump right into sculpting a head for SS Caulifla right now. My Master Roshi has been teaching me just how rusty my sculpting and sanding skills are right now--not good.

Super Saiyan 2 Gohan (SS2 Gohan)Difficulty: 15/10 This custom figure is something I worked on, reworked, reworked again, etc. so many times in 2014 and for several years, that I never thought I'd finish it. The recipe is one that nobody could duplicate, just because there's still (even after 9 years of time) no suitable head for this custom figure. It's a Real Works SS Gohan body, HSCF bootleg Goku arms modified to fit, and a Chara Puchi SS2 Gohan head. I spent at least 200 hours sculpting and sanding the hair on this guy over the years. Not only was it really difficult, but because Gohan's transformation to SS2 is my favorite moment in DBZ, I wanted to do it as much justice as I could. I'm not sure if I reached my level of expectations with this figure, but I'm happy I've finally finished it. Given that 3D printing now exists, I really don't think people can appreciate how much work goes into hand sculpting something like this, unless they've tried it. But hopefully you all like how it turned out.
Although it doesn't serve a lot of purpose, I added waist articulation and neck articulation. And his head is swappable with my custom SS Gohan.

Here's some old work in progress pics of SS2 Gohan I found from 2014. This shows how much sculpting work I had to do back then. Sanding each strand of hair was such a chore...

Excellent job on SS2 Gohan, I wish all Super Saiyan 2 would have been so cool and peculiar with such wide hair.
