Hello Friends! Here are my first dragon ball customs. These are easy ones but i'm satisfied with them, they do the job! Tell me what you think! Piccolo without cape  New belt for goku battle damaged and goku kaioken  Turles (No paint job for now; Raditz is pretty rare and expensive in Europe so i want to be able to roll back my custom if i need to)  Gohan with saiyan armor (I think i'm going to make some battle damaged on the armor in the future) He is tall, i know, i just want him to be the same size as my others Gohan from Cell's saga  Gohan from Broly's first movie (2 different size)

Two new customs. Trunks and Trunks ssj from GT. A simple head swap (i used what i had; two trunks GT with big heads and 2 trunks to tall for my collection, i combined them  ); Now i think Trunks fits pretty well with my dragon ball GT 5" action figure collection. Take a look!    |

Very nice work! Irwin and Jakks customs have gotten very expensive to make in recent years. Even I am hesitant to chop them up now, because even characters that used to be worth nothing are now around $20 each thanks to the cost of shipping. I'm not sure what Raditz sells for right now, but I can only assume he's around $50.
I do plan on customizing again this summer though. I'm excited and can't wait! Hopefully my paint and Apoxie Sculpt aren't all dried up!

Branjita , You should definitely get back to it! Your collection and your customs inspire me  EDIT:Previously i showed you a Gohan custom from Bojack's movie. Here is a variation, using bandai SHF gohan's heads. I used "patafix" (Blu-tack for you?!) to try it so no worries It's pretty cool, i think.   And here is just a little improvement, I removed the earings of my Gogeta

Hello friends, I want to share my last customs. Trunks mirai ssj saiyan armor with tied up hair (a simple head swap):  Nail, i use my armor turtle neck from before (from my gohan). Same as always, no paint job for now, i want to be able to roll back. On my shelf his legs are hidden so it's ok! I want to make the vest but i don't know how yet. So for now it's just Nail during his fight againts Frieza.  Frieza first form. I find a chara puchi to swap the head. The originaly one is sooo big, i truly hate it. For this one i'm going to paint the new head (white --> light grey) because Chara puchi can be sacrified! I don't care! haha! 
And here is my best custom so far. Yamcha from cyborg/cell saga. Really happy with this little work! I use super dragon star krilin for the body and chara puchi head yamcha (a bootleg one i think) for the head. I had to machine the head but it was worth it. Easy but great (in my opinion) I want to do something similar for yamcha saiyan saga (with long hair)... But I have to find the perfect head!   |

It's incredible (and surprising) that Dragon Stars Krillin's body works for well for a 5 inch scale Yamcha!
I'm not aware of a good 5 inch scale Yamcha head. The easiest option would probably be finding a Demoniacal Fit Yamcha/Tien accessory set, because it came with a Yamcha head for late DB.

jibi Adverge unfortunately all have too small of heads for 5 inch scale bodies. Even the bootlegs of Adverge (which there isn't a Yamcha that I am aware of) is too small. The HSCF Yamcha's head is a little small too. The one JuanJorman used was a bootleg DWC Yamcha head (DWC was what WCF was called before it was called WCF). Specifically, Dragon World Collectible = DWC and World Collectible Figure = WCF. I consider it too large, and the style of it doesn't blend in with Irwin/Jakks very well. This one is the right size for a 5 inch scale body: www.ebay.com/itm/314347520531. And as an added bonus, you'd get the Cell Saga hair and face, and I'd say it's an upgrade from the Chara Puchi head, even though the skin tone won't match DS Krillin's body whatsoever.  For whatever reason, some Demoniacal Fit heads can be perfect for 5 inch scale bodies, or just 1 to 5% too large. In some cases the hair can be too long to look right on a smaller body, despite having a nice sized head (this is especially true for Goku heads--the hair looks too long). The same is true for SH Figuarts heads, though I think they are at least an addition 1% larger than DF heads, or... exactly the same size. The Popy/Plex mini big head Yamcha head would be the right size too, but the hair on these figures is not long enough to look right on a full size body and they need quite a bit of engineering to fit since they either have no neck, or a little tiny neck. In this case, there's no neck on any of these. www.ebay.com/itm/125793841348 Naturally, the SHF Yamcha head would be the perfect choice, other than being maybe 2 to 6% too large. But you'd have a very expensive time trying to buy one off someone since the SHF Yamcha has become a very expensive, desirable figure.   I own the DF and SHF, so if you need side-by-side comparison pics, I can provide those.

Branjita thank you for all these explanations So it was a DWC Yamcha! Sorry for my mistake. I had found a bootleg one on a french website for 5 euros, i though it was a good idea. Maybe not! The problem with the demoniacal fit is, like you said, the skin color. And I don't think I can handle the skin recoloration... Arf, I have to think about all of that! Thanks again

jibi the DWC bootleg Yamcha has three problems, in my opinion. The head is too large, the face doesn't look like Irwin or Jakks products at all, and the quality of that particular bootleg is really, really, really low quality. A lot of the DWC bootlegs are great, but the Saiyan Saga set is really hard, poorly molded/casted plastic, with very bad paint application. I'm not sure if I have my DWC Yamcha bootleg or not. In theory I have the head... but I haven't seen it in years. I'll try to remember to take a comparison photo for you tonight. I do have the Popy/Plex Yamchas and some of the other things I mentioned above.

Branjita thanks for the pictures! You are right, the demoniacal fit / shf heads are great. Before buying, I have to make some painting tests. The krillin super dragon star skin color is pretty light so i have to manage something... for the heads or for the body! I have another idea, what about gohan form cell saga? Need to add some hair, of course, but the base is not bad in my opinion. I have 3 of them so i can try something. (you should finish your cell saga yamcha! )

I've seen several people over the decades use Irwin series 5 SS Gohan (the Cell Saga one) heads on Yamcha customs and they can look alright. Yamcha's hair is difficult to sculpt, so that's what makes it complicated to use that head. I don't think I've seen anyone use the Jakks SS Gohan from Cell Saga though, if that is what you're referring to.
The DWC bootleg Saiyan Saga Yamcha might be okay if you are willing to do a little bit of sanding and repaint his eyes and hair. I shouldn't dismiss that figure so much, since you might not be as picky/particular as I am. Trimming, sanding, and repainting easy stuff (like the hair) would be a lot easier than trying to match the skintone of Demoniacal Fit Yamcha to Krillin's body.
It might be hard to tell in the photos, especially since I already trimmed and sanded that Yamcha's hair a little bit, but he's MUCH lower quality than the DWC bootleg of DB Yamcha in those photos. That Saiyan Saga set was the only pitifully bad quality set of DWC bootlegs made during that ~2010 time period. The casting was bad (sharp edges) and the painting was terrible quality. Every other DBZ set was really good. The first DB set (with kid Goku and Bulma in pink dress) was not as bad... but it is lower quality than the other sets too.

Yes, i am talking about that gohan irwin jakks serie 5 ssj! I took some pictures. The head look a little big because I put it in front of the neck, just to "visualise"!    There is a lot of work to do like machine the inside of the head, add long hair, the paint job but... i think i can do that. About the DWC bootleg Saiyan Saga Yamcha I asked the seller for more pictures to make a decision. I will keep you informed! Maybe it's the easiest and the cheapest thing to do, not the perfect one but good enought... We will see! EDIT:
