Does anyone have a method for removing the goku gi symbols?
has anyone tried it? i am far too scared to try without a tested method, so i wondered if any of the customisers on here had tried it??
i would like to have the new super hero goku as super saiyan Goku from DBZ, but obviously the gi symbols are there. i presume the sash will fit on from the offical SS release, so its just the symbols stopping me.
i dont want to have to paint over them, so i would like to know if they could be rubbed off some how??

No special method, you can use a knife to scrape the surface lightly.

I'm afraid I don't have a solution for you, but I believe I have seen attempts at this before. I don't know for sure but I think I remember someone rubbing off the symbols with a cotton swab dipped in some kinda chemical solution. And I've seen others cover them up with repaints or stickers.
Quick question - am I the only one who has never cared to pay attention to what symbols are on Goku's gi? I can't read Japanese so I never really thought much of them, which is especially weird since I'm a very particular and detail-oriented person. But I just don't let an inaccurate symbol bother me (like if I put a Frieza saga Goku in a fight against Raditz or Young Piccolo, I wouldn't care)

But I just don't let an inaccurate symbol bother me (like if I put a Frieza saga Goku in a fight against Raditz or Young Piccolo, I wouldn't care) about the symbols, i can instantly see the difference between the turtle symbol and the kai symbol, so by default recognise the goku symbol aswell. it was a big thing when he trained with king kai and got the new symbol so it just stuck in my head.. it doesnt make a difference if youre ok with it as that is what matters and if your far away from it enough it doesnt really matter i dont think. but in the intance of shf frieza saga goku fighting raditz it still works even though the symbol is different because the boot colours and belt are correct.. after that the colours switch on the boots and he wears the sash.. which is a point we havent had a 2.0 later Z goku. yet. I'm afraid I don't have a solution for you, but I believe I have seen attempts at this before. I don't know for sure but I think I remember someone rubbing off the symbols with a cotton swab dipped in some kinda chemical solution. And I've seen others cover them up with repaints or stickers. yeah thats what i was thinking if there was a a particular chemical solution that would do it without destroying the paint/ plastic underneath it. but i would need to know what it was... i havent painted or custiomised anything for a long time but maybe its paint cleaner / thinner? like i say i dont want to experiment as i dont have multiples of the figure but i would buy one if i knew there was a good chance of removing it ok. in this case i dont want a symbol at all , i want it for 'full power' goku as i hate the one they released ( stupid colour).

Non-acetone nail polish remover might work potentially, because that's what I have used on Hot Wheels to remove the tampos (decals) that Mattel puts on them. It damages the plastic parts waaaaaay less than regular nail polish remover, especially if I wash the Hot Wheels with soap and water after I am done rubbing off the tampo with a Q-tip. But... I'm hesitant to suggest that since I have never tried it specifically on a Figuarts figure. I asked timone317 if he can chime in, because I bet he knows.

I talked to Tim about it, and like me, he is unsure what would do it without damaging the underlying paint. Seems risky. You need to talk to Ferrytale Customs or someone who specializes in Figuarts customs.

i wonder if there is underlying paint or if the orange colour is the colour of the plastic itself??
it does seem as if painting it would be the safest easiest way, but its just getting a good colour match would be the gamble.
anyway, if i ever find out i will share with you all
