Recently, I’ve been feeling kind of nostalgic, and have been adding to my childhood Jakks/Irwin/Bandai DBZ figure collection. For years now though, there’s been one particular Goku figure that continues to elude me: The Jakks DBZ Trilogy SS Goku (in orange GI). It looks similar to the Art of Fusion SS Goku (the Jakks version, not the great Irwin remake), but his head isn’t as huge as that figure and there’s no magnets in his chest. I know to some this figure may not seem like anything special, but I really like the colors used for his GI, and it has what is easily my favorite Jakks SS Goku head. Sadly, I can’t seem to find this figure, MOC or loose, ANYWHERE. eBay, Mercari, etc…. Nothing. Does anyone here know why this is? Does anyone here actually own this Goku and is willing to part ways with it? I don’t care if he’s MOC or loose, just as long as it’s in good shape and is the specific Goku I’m looking for. Thanks in advance!

For some reason Trilogy figures became difficult to find (you're not the first person I've seen mention this). In my opinion, it might have something to do with collectors kind of considering them to be a bit more common and worth opening, especially the ones like Tien and Eis Shenron, who came in that weird looking packaging. I'm not a collector of variations, so I don't really know much about that specific SS Goku. Looking at our Jakks checklist on DBF, that figure came out in 2007, and most of the 2007 releases are likely rare. I believe that was the last year of Jakks DB figures, and I know in my city, Toys R Us was the only place to still buy them, so it was hard to find them to buy. If you don't care about him being loose, I'd recommend just buying a Goku body and swapping a SS Goku head onto it. Most of them tended to interchange with that body if the head used was from a similar beefy body. You'd just need to make sure you steal the head from a Jakks SS Goku figure that has the same color skintone.

You sound like me from a year ago. Lol It took me a long time to find it as well. It's not the Art of Fusion Goku, but a repaint of the Saiyan Warriors SS Goku. If you have Facebook Messenger, feel free to shoot me a message and I'll give you some comparison shots. My name is Armando Castañeda and I'm part of the DB5 and Dragon Ball Vintage Collectors group on Facebook as well.

Was there anything particularly different about that Goku? I’ve had this Jakks Super Saiyan one since childhood (seen here with the Irwin version), but I always thought it was the Art of Fusion release.

futureztrunks67 I'm not an expert at variations like lasombra, but it looks like you have the Art of Fusion SS Goku that came with the SS Vegeta with the scary looking face in a 2-pack. There's an easy way to test it. It has a magnet in the torso. I doubt any other releases did. Jakks reused that body over and over and over. The one that BrolyLSSJ01 is looking for has a different head and a little bit of different colored paint work.
