The head is the only thing that I would consider anime accurate for this figure. The darker shade in the hair and eyebrows appears to be directly from the anime. Specifically when Goku first transformed.

The problem with the term "Super Saiyan Blue" is that it fails to denote how significant of a power increase this new form entails. By just calling it blue, I have no way of knowing where it ranks among other forms; I just know it is the blue form. I agree with that which is why I'm going to always refer to it as either a Super Saiyan God (for short) or Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan. The significance of this new transformation is the Saiyan being able to tap into the god power. Super Saiyan Blue does not reference any of that. It only references the color of the hair which makes it horribly generic. It would be no different than renaming Super Saiyan as Saiyan Yellow.

the SSj3 Vegeta prototype shoulda been SSj4 Vegeta instead :/ Nah, Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta prototype was better to see. It showed Tamashii is willing to go into different designs that aren't part of Dragon Ball, Z, GT, and Super. Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta is bound to happen once this guy comes out and sells like crazy...

The only tidbit that's making me kinda doubt this rumor is the part about Yamcha; I don't exactly see him as a priority, I don't see him being discussed in the ranks of Majin Vegeta & Kid Buu. There's no doubting that Tamashii will put out popular 1st & 2nd tier characters, rarely will they ever visit a 3rd tier character (and lets face it, placing Yamcha at 3rd tier is still being generous). Yamcha has a niche audience of fans (myself included), and yes Tamashii can make literally any DBZ character & we would eat it up, especially Yamcha since it's an extremely easy release, but Tamashii doesn't think the way we do. Yamcha is an easy, believable release because it can use the Goku body with a head swap. That's my guess. That's my thinking, as well. Cut off Ultimate Gohan's bang, add scar decals to the faces, and you're really not that far off from a Android/Cell Saga Yamcha. They would have to create a new mold for the body but they could do that by simply sculpting away the blue undershirt from the Goku body. I believe the only thing left are the shoes.

I'm glad that they fixed the knee joints but the hair over the shoulder looks strange now and not that natural. I disagree. It looks natural if you pose it correctly and, as we can tell, who ever posed this figure didn't really look at the figure before they posed it. (The arms being backwards is horribly obvious.) Hopefully the ball will fit into the socket better to get rid of the showing peg. The added articulation to the hair was a smart idea though to have the head move around easier and not leave space underneath it if you decide to have Goku in anything but a downward look.

GT Adult Goku: I believe this is mostly what most of us collectors call a "Frankenstein" figure. Meaning it is a combination of previously used parts to make a "new" figure. And why not? Tamashii has essentially released most of these pieces already! Personally, I love Goku's GT outfit outside of his pink wristbands. I'd love to add this figure to my collection. This is actually a great way of using the previous parts to create a new incarnation of Goku without looking too much like a cash-grab like Ultimate Gohan.
Yes, someone besides me that loves the figure! I will actually be sad if he doesn't get released because I think it looks great! angelo2113 I agree with you. There's no question that Kid Goku, SSJ4 Goku, Trunks, SSJG Goku, and Whis will be released. I think you're right about Champa and Vados but they might want to wait to see fan reaction to the characters before going all gung-ho with them for now. They didn't show Jaco, so that may have indicated that fans weren't that interested. People here say he's a great character though (I haven't read the manga)! I don't think Angel Goku will get released; I think they were trying to make a quick way to make the Goku shrine look more symmetrical. I think it looks sweet for the display! GT Adult Goku looked great. I'm hopeful that he'll get released specifically because, as Bardoon mentioned, it's a combination of used parts to make a new figure and it's Goku. It's an easy sell for Tamashii and, at some point, it will add another Goku release in their product line up. That's true. They may be early prototypes just to show the fans that they are willing to release new characters from Super if we're willing to purchase them. I think Jaco, along with the Buus, are being geared up for release/announcement soon. I don't know why I think that. I just find it odd that they're not at the showing along with Premium Colors Super Saiyan Vegeta and Future Trunks. I don't care about Jaco, personally. I'm not interested in reading his Manga or seeing more of him. I would gladly pass on his release and I never thought I would say that about a Dragon Ball character. Yeah, the display is absolutely stunning. I'm tempted to display a shelf of all Goku now.

Guys - take a look at the figure placards in the photos. A lot of the newer figures have the typical "Display Only" line which draws back to the fact that Tamashii is once again displaying prototypes of figures that they probably have little-to-no intention of releasing other than just using them as demonstration pieces as we've seen with Shenron and Nappa and even the Super Buu figures.
Honestly, there's only two figures here I actually see Tamashii being serious about and that's TRUNKS and KID GOKU. Mostly because those are totally new sculpts and why would they put so much work into that if they weren't going to release them? Coupling with the fact that there are "two" Trunks figures displayed and Kid Goku has his own diorama piece, I'd say those are guaranteed "coming soon" pieces. I hate to say it but I think Tamashii is playing their usual games with most of the other figures.
I noticed that as well but I disagree on Tamashii having little-to-no intention of releasing these prototypes. Vados, Champa, and Whis will be released. That goes without question since Tamashii is quite invested in the new films and "Super." All three of them could use some updates though. Super Saiyan Trunks will be released. Interesting to see if it will either be a regular release or not. Super Saiyan God Goku and Super Saiyan 4 Goku will be released. Tamashii went above and beyond for each of these. They created an entirely new sculpt for Super Saiyan God Goku and they updated the sculpt for Super Saiyan 4 Goku. I don't believe they would invest all that time and effort with no intention of releasing either of them. Kid Goku will be released after some updates done. Although your comment about multiple displays was interesting and makes me feel it's very close to release. Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta was used to see if there's any interest in those types of releases. I feel they were successful. A lot of people were skeptical but I've seen a lot of people change their minds and growing fond of it. I would love to see that released at some point. Angel Goku won't be released as either a regular/web exclusive. Unless it's Tamashii's idea of a SDCC Exclusive which, as we discussed before, may be the best option since it's not a highly desired variation of the character.

rayd Your post is very well said. For specific points... I agree about the Super Saiyan God Goku. I don't necessarily care about that specific transformation but I'm surprised and thrilled that Tamashii went through with making him look the way he's supposed to look. I want to reward that dedication with purchasing the product and Super Saiyan God Goku was very low on the totem pole for me. Super Saiyan 4 Goku is phenomenal. I can't believe they improved his sculpting but it looks even better than the first prototype which I didn't think was possible. I'm hoping quite a lot of GT will be covered down the line. To add to your list, Kid Goku, Majuub, Baby Vegeta, Android 17, a few Shenrons, and Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta. Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta is Tamashii's way of showing us that ANYTHING is possible. That had to be one of the least expected designs. I'm disappointed in the negativity about it but I'm not necessarily surprised. Along with Majin Vegeta, I think a lot of negativity is also "that never happened" arguments as well. To each their own. I'm open to any design and I'm liking Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta more each time I look at the pictures.

One question. Is vegetas head piece interchangeable ? Or is it like ssj3 goku? ...That is a very good question. I would imagine it's similar to Super Saiyan 3 Goku. Specifically because the head will be slightly heavy and Tamashii would want to keep it tightly secure.

It's not an entirely new sculpt, though. It's mostly a reused PC Vegeta. That's why the boots have no lines. Yeah I noticed that too. The upper portion is brand new though and the arms don't seem to be repaints of the old arms. The abs look very detailed and they wouldn't just use this sculpt for SSJ3 and call it a day. We can already see how if they can re-use a sculpt, they will. Our beloved Vegeta will get his in due time. They're the same arms. Just painted flesh color. It does surprisingly make the sculpt of them appear different though.

I was quite upset when I found that out. I'm not sure why they would stop sending them over when I know there are a lot of collectors who like the brown shippers. They work great as a protective cover for the figure's packaging.

They actually did create a new hair sculpt but they forgot to add the striation detail they had for Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Goku. If I'm not mistaken, SSB Goku's hair didn't have the shading until recently. SSB Vegeta is still months away, I'm sure they'll update his hair. You're not mistaken. SSGSS Goku's hair was a difference in shading which was applied after the figure was produced. I'm not so sure they will update SSGSS Vegeta's hair though because that requires work before production. It depends on if they're already in the process of casting the mold.

I'm tempted to preorder this, but I don't know if I can look past the simple repaint of the old hair sculpt. It just isn't accurate. I don't care about there being no inclusion of a non SS head, as I have scouter Vegeta; but that dang on hair sculpt! Unfortunately, I'll probably get it anyways because it's Vegeta... They actually did create a new hair sculpt but they forgot to add the striation detail they had for Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Goku.

Job well done by Tamashii. They really know how to keep the momentum of this line grow.
I'm glad to see they're allowing him to be a regular release. I wonder how they determine the qualifications for future regular releases. Beerus is probably the most significant character, along with Whis, in the new story line.

Attention all S.H. Figuarts fans out there Tamashii Nations event will take place 10 days from now. Hopefully they will have new figures to showcase for you all, perhaps give word on Buutenks, Buuhan, last but certainly not least SS4 Goku. Just wanted to let you all know what is going on, for those who weren't aware of it. Here is the link: www.dbzfigures.com/figure-news/tamashii-nation-2015-event-is-in-10-days/ Given that the event is coming up, what is everybody's predictions for what new figures/characters we might see? Here's mine: Nappa (Armored) Premium Color Cell Premium Color SSJ3 Goku Buu Saga/Majin Vegeta Whis First Form Frieza Kid Buu Hercule Buu Saga Vegeta Kid Trunks. I think the Resurrection F focus will be done with Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Vegeta and they'll go back to Buu Saga. I don't expect more than 3 since they'll more than likely have Buutenks and Buuhan out and hopefully an official release date.
