If I could get it for a retail-like price, I wouldn't mind having it, but I'm not enthused by it. Hell, I'm really behind on the recent releases that I actually want, so this thing's not really on my radar.

I actually don't mind that it's the old Goku mold but I'm really not a fan of the muddy wash. Surely some shading or something would've worked better... He just looks like an off-colour Goku to me rather than a Kaioken Goku.
Glad for those that like it I guess, I'm not one that feels the need to buy every figure so I'll be happy to give this one a miss but it seems like a bit of a missed opportunity on a form we likely won't see again (or at least not for a long while).

It looks cool, and I do like Kaioken Goku, but I won't be getting any more old mold figures.

SSJ3 Goku is a yes, but the Kaio-Ken Goku is a no. It would be neat to display it with the upcoming Vegeta, but that's about it. It's the SDCC figure all over again, just red-stained with a red Kamehameha and the Kame and Kaio symbols. For future releases I'm hoping for Tien and Yamcha after Nappa, then Gotenks and a retooled Buu, then SSJ4.

Back in the day I would've been 100% on board with this figure. It's the perfect choice for an exclusive since it's very much an optional release for collectors. Only thing I don't like about it is that they used the old body. It needs to be phased out already and the 2.0 upgraded body would've made this great release an excellent one. That said I'll still get it but hopefully one day we get a 2.0 of this since it will be a stand out figure amongst the newer ones I would prefer that any and all limited exclusives, specifically those that are more limited than web exclusives, continue to use the older molds. If this were an updated mold, Tamashii Nations would lose out on a lot of potential profit, which could be put towards the budget for future upgrades and releases, by severly limiting the collectors the opportunity to obtain the product. Idk I don't see how not using the 2.0 really saves them a lot of money. I'm sure they make plenty of profit already and using outdated molds has no real purpose. For this release they simply saw an opportunity to reuse Namek Goku and call it Kaioken. If we eventually get a 2.0, none of this would matter but because it's probably gonna be a one time deal, it's a bummer. I'm all about supporting a line and all but a little extra effort could've been used to make a better overall release.

There's no advantage in putting a little extra effort in a World Tour Exclusive that Tamashii Nations is making available for those who attend. It's a smart business decision to re-use a pre-existing mold for a very limited release that does no affect the line. It's used to supply a small market and make a profit for the company.

I'm probably in the minority here, but I want neither Goku. I'm a one Goku kinda guy, and I already have a normal Goku, I like my normal Goku, and the only way I'd want anything different than it is if they made a normal goku with the 2.0 body, and even then it's like... I already have one that's perfectly serviceable. TBH, the main reason I am 100% down with updating my Saiyan Vegeta, aside from the new head potentially working with the SS Vegeta release, is that the joints on my original figure are AWFUL. Original release Saiyan Vegeta has been constantly falling over on my shelf.

It looks fine for what it is. However I have no desire to purchase it, so I'm gonna leave Kaioken Goku alone. I already missed out on SDCC normal Goku, so to own this one and not the other would just be frustrating.
I'm more excited for SS3 Goku. The new mold looks ace and I have always liked the SS3 form. I need to catch up on SS Vegeta and Gohan... but the money escapes me...

I've actually come to terms with Tamashii using the old mold for this Goku and here's why. In their eyes, they have a perfectly good mold that they can reuse at least one more time to give us a Saiyan Saga Goku (the one that fights Vegeta/Nappa). They just have to change the kanji on the Namek Goku and presto. It just makes sense business wise. These older styles of Goku pre-SSJ use the old articulation and everything post SSJ uses the 2.0 style. The only figure that would break this is SSB Goku but I'm sure we'll get a 2.0 of that eventually.
This entire time I've been a little peeved that displays will have outdated bodies but now I'm content with this reasoning.

I think they're just using the old mold because if they used a new one, it would technically then be a new figure, not an exclusive re color. A normal Goku hasn't been released with the new mold yet. They're careful not to cross those boundaries.

They aren't unjustified in using that mold, but neither am I unjustified in disliking that mold and not wanting to buy it.

They aren't unjustified in using that mold, but neither am I unjustified in disliking that mold and not wanting to buy it.Nobody has argued otherwise. Tamashii Nations has heard the backlash of continuously re-using the old, outdated mold for character releases in the main line that consists of Regular Releases and Web Exclusives which is why we'll never see this mold re-used for either of those types of releases.
