I have to disagree that Super is to the lines detriment. The line wouldn't have even existed if it hadn't been for Kai. Tamashii aren't catering these to the old DBZ fans of the 90's. They're trying to appeal the new Kai and now Super fans. It's always been about what's current.
As far as why Whis is an August release, I guess they are already re-releasing Goku in June, and like many said before, July is SDCC. I wouldn't actually be surprised if we get a Beerus and Trunks re-release before the end of the year. Also, if you look at how much Tamashii are actually pumping out recently I'm actually shocked we're getting this much.
We're getting Star Wars, Avengers, TMNT, Kinnikuman, Saint Seiya, Sailor Moon, Ramna 1/2, Godzilla, Kamen Rider, Ultraman just to name a few!!
Tamashii are making so many fans happy right now they're knocking it out of the park!!

I have to agree with kanji, we all want the Buu figures but the other Buu saga figures seem like they did poorly, Ssj4 Goku would be awesome but GT was lackluster so if figures from the Buu saga didn't do so hot they my be more hesitant to release GT figures. DBS is really hot right now but I don't see the figures selling out like with the older Sh figuarts releases I'm not sure if that has with over production or lack of sales. I'm just happy that they are still producing the line and growing it.

Im willing to bet mostly adults buy these expensive figures and we grew with DBZ... I know I will be losing interest if for the next year there are nothing but Super releases.

I've only watched four eps of Super and the two movies, which are basically the next couple of episodes of Super. I don't have much interest in Super characters. I don't mind getting Beerus and Whis, despite them not being much of a preference, but I'll be annoyed if they start releasing those other prototypes over classic Z characters. Jaco, the girl, the fat bunny. Don't want to see those get released any time soon!

I don't doubt Super is going to take the center stage for the line for the foreseeable future just due to the fact that it is what is in the minds of most fans of the series right now. As for getting super releases instead of old releases, I'm just going to be glad we're getting more releases. If you look at the history of the line, it was putting out 2-4 figures tops for the years up until 2015. Now we have a release almost monthly!

I gotta second what kanji said. Tamashii aren't targeting the figures to the old fans who want their good ol' characters (or, not only to them). But more so to the Kai fans, who are now watching Super. Basically, they are releasing the ones who will sell the most, which are now the Super characters. And I won't be surprised if Monaka/Frost/Hit and etc. will get a release soon too. I'm sure the Boos and the rest of the Boo arc characters will be released once the Kai Boo arc will get to the US, when the Boo arc will return to the hype.

If Hit and frost (for example) have a big part in the next arc, I can all but guarantee we will see them late 2016 or early 2017.

Tamashii are making so many fans happy right now they're knocking it out of the park!! The line would have also been cancelled if Tamashii continued to focus on the Kai fans in Japan. The line continued because of the popularity it had in the Western market. I highly doubt that was due to Kai and had more to due with the already well established Dragon Ball Z fan base. Broly's pre-orders alone, a character who was never part of the Kai series, should have been enough proof to Tamashii that the old Dragon Ball Z fans have a very significant role in collecting this line. Tamashii appealing to the new fans could potentially be history repeating itself. Even though it wouldn't be as as damaging as before, it could put them at a disadvantage with the fan base if they focus the majority of their attention on Super when Super hasn't aired in the United States and sales there are doubled that of Japan's. I have to agree with kanji, we all want the Buu figures but the other Buu saga figures seem like they did poorly, Ssj4 Goku would be awesome but GT was lackluster so if figures from the Buu saga didn't do so hot they my be more hesitant to release GT figures. The Buu Saga figures could have potentially sold better if their counterparts would have been released shortly after. Same.

There is a lot of conjecture there bud. Kai went through the Buu saga because of its popularity in the western market. This has been sourced in several interviews. As for why they are dragging their heels, that is a different issue. To say the line isn't for Kai fans, that is purely your opinion, which may or may not coincide with Tamashii's opinion. It is not a big leap to say that the popularity of the line in the west and Kai's popularity are linked. However both the Buu saga for Kai and Super have yet to come out in the west. Both movies featuring Super character however have been released.
If they are going to try and boost the lines popularity in Japan, I don't doubt their focus would be on Super though, as that is what is most relevant in all of their marketing that has been shown for the franchise.

(I'm not precisely sure on how the timeline between Kai episode releases in Japan/Western market line up with the S.H. Figuarts releases in Japan/Western market so you'll have to excuse me.) The Western market labeling speaks for itself. Once the line went into web exclusivity, every Western market release has had a Dragon Ball Z sticker over the Dragon Ball Kai *label, right? I don't necessarily see how, since then, the Dragon Ball Kai fans have been the target market.

I think it's highly likely that even though these things sell better in the West, Tamashii treats Japanese interests with priority. Whether those 'Japanese interests' are what Japanese fans actually display interest in, or what Toei says the Dragon Ball brand should market heaviest, is conjecture. In any case, it's the reason why DB Kai/Super could be called the main market, even when that isn't that big here.

I think it's leaning towards that way at the moment but Tamashii may be testing the market so they can create a balance between the Japanese market and the Western market for the future releases. According to the recent photo of his packaging, Beerus is the 1st official Dragon Ball Super release in the line. It will be very interesting what logo they use for the Western releases. Specifically the United States. The release after Whis will give us more insight on Tamashii's plans. There's still the rumored updated Vegeta sculpt and Premium Color Super Saiyan 3 Goku and Perfect Cell. Releasing Premium Colors and an updated sculpt every so often gives Tamashii the time and resources to focus on Super.

I don't think that they'll be releasing any premium colors any time soon as theres no high demand for other characters that badly like how was Vegeta and Trunks were. And they won't do any updated sculpts as that actually cost A LOT of money to do. Which is why they kept on using the Goku body many times now. Consumers complained about the knees and other things here and there, but nope, the figure would come out and it has the same issues. Once its out and if they can use that same body, body part, they will use it just as it is and not do any updates. Best example, VEGiTO'S OPEN PALM HAND! They just painted white over the flesh!!!!! Unless its like within their budget, but none has showed that. The only figure I can think of that they actually updated it is SS4 Goku. During its showing at a con, it had the horrible knees, but fans complained, gave input and they actually listened and now at their recent showing the knees look way better! WAY BETTER! That's the only time that they actually did a updated sculpt. But as far as them doing it to like if a Premium Color SS3 (which they should do BADLY) or Perfect Cell, expect it to be the same body and sculpt. We'd be getting SS3 Goku in Premium Colors, but with the same knee gaps and such problems.

What I expect out of the PC SSJ3:
Same coloring or even body as Namek Goku except for the belt (to give those of us that have the OG a reason to get this as it makes this a BoG version) Same color/finish of the hair to match PC Trunks and Vegeta (not saying I like the PC hair, but it makes sense they would do the same for every PC) Removed aura effect MAYBE inclusion of one set extra hands
Judging by the current PC's, Tamashii can only add or take away accessories that are currently already existing, as in no new hands, effects, or faces can be included. Also, they cannot change the body sculpt whatsoever and are limited only to paint changes. Basically, no retooling allowed.
