Nah the Masterpiece line are the best Transformers ever I have to agree with Shiffty that nothing will ever top the die cast awesomeness of original G1. For someone like me though , who at one point had a damn close to complete G1 collection, and sold it.... You're right. Masterpiece is the next best thing, and they're DEFINITELY more show accurate. It's really funny this convo started because I just so happened to be lucky enough to find this today at my local TRU. I don't have any of the others , and really don't know if I should keep this one or flip it for a profit real quick but.... The urge to collect them all is stirring inside me. The LAST thing I need though, is ANOTHER collection I'm so torn. Btw Slimertheghost , those Cel's are freaking BEAUTIFUL man, bravo.

I have no long term collecting goals as of now. For the time being I'm just getting whatever I like regardless of the item type, country of origin or year of production. If it looks cool and I've got the money, I buy it; be it a figure, gashapon or what have you. Some characters take precedent over others, of course. I guess what I'm saying is, as of right now, I'm just cherry-picking; although I do have several high-priority wants in mind.

I love cherry-picking. You get some weird collection set ups that way

I've got myself myself the Japanese masterpiece releases of Optimus Prime Ver. 2, Starscream Ver. 2, Grimlock, Soundwave, and all Soundwave's Cassettes. Got myself a TRU Optimus Prime, Thundercracker, and Rodimus Prime. I hate to admit it, but Rodimus is by far the weakest figure. And yet, he is amazing nonetheless. Not a cheap series to collect, but definitively one I'd recommend to any fan of the franchise. Without a doubt the best Transformers Toyline out there, and I dare say, one of the best toylines out there period.

I wish I was able to get the TRU Optimus when it came out but I am quite happy with Rodimus..."Arise, Rodimus Prime"

When i was new to collecting my goal was to collect HSCF and Real Works figures, that collection is pretty much complete with the exception of 3-4 figures that i want.
My main goal is to collect HG and minifigures that scale with them of all the characters that were made, from DB to after the frieza saga. I'm probably still missing about 60 minifigures or so, and about 5 big pieces that are currently out there.
Other than that i buy anything that i like that i can find for cheap. as well unique or vintage items. I really like keshigomu figures, i have about 70 or so.

Wow M5 that is pretty cool almost completing the HSCF and Real Works figures. Can't wait to see your set up when you get everything organised again.

I wish I was able to get the TRU Optimus when it came out but I am quite happy with Rodimus..."Arise, Rodimus Prime" I actually called up Toys R Us when he came out and they put one aside for me. Ended up getting him for $70 (Canadian, regular price being $100), since he was on sale. Not gonna lie... He just might be my favorite toy.

Right now my goals for the DBZ stuff is just to get some of my favorite characters in Figuarts. I probably won't collect outside of that since well I don't have the space for more nor the money. I'm really wanting SS Vegeta, and Gohan but I can't manage to find a decent price. I wouldn't mind getting Piccolo and Trunks but they aren't a priority. I haven't decided on Krillian yet. Normal Goku is a definite. Heres hoping to rereleases so I don't have to pay above 50 for each figure.

I hope the Figuarts line goes on for at least a few more years so we can get the character releases we all desire *crosses fingers*

Cherry-picking is the best way to collect lol, I think the only goal I have is to save a few thousand, take a trip to japan and go hunting for a few days, most likely focus on rare dbz stuff but definitely other franchise items too

I thought of doing this japanese treasure hunting thing sometime too I feel that its the definitive end all collectors pilgrimage, at least for collectors like us. I mean who wouldn't want to see it all first person and be able to browse through every possible shop you could go to and find rare gems for what I hear nowadays are decent prices
