Thanks. I think it's more that his pants are higher up than his legs being long, and as you said yesterday, a lot of characters have their pants above their belly button. Then we see that his elbows match the waistline of the pants, and so it looks fine to me. Definitely not worth a few extra hours of doing whatever nonsense it would require lol Maybe for a main character.

Thanks.
I've recently been working on some sculpting for three of Branjita's customs in exchange for the book designs he made for me, so I will post an update on those when I finish what they need. Then I will move on to my next project. I plan to be done with what I am doing now by the end of the week.

Just some quickies.Future Trunks (DBZ Movie 8 ) Date: August 2014 Creation Time: 5 Hours Difficulty: 3/10Head: Irwin Series 5 Future Trunks Body: Irwin Series 3 Future Trunks Modifications: The head got a complete repaint because the old one looked sickly. Thus, I had to repaint all of his skin. I had to trim some hair away on the sides, so the head could rest and fit on the neck. For the body, I took off the sword and carved away the strap on the shirt. Then I sculpted over the remnants on his back. Repainted, cleared, done. You know what's interesting? Trunks was never wearing only his tank top with normal form long hair. He went from this form, straight to SS without the jacket, because his transformation basically shredded the jacket off right before he fights Broly. He is seen later, all battle-damaged in his normal form with long hair and the tank top, but never without the rips, cuts and bruises. SSFuture Trunks (Androids Saga)Date: August 2014 Creation Time: 3 Hours Difficulty: 2/10Head: Irwin SZF SSFuture Trunks Body: Irwin Series 3 Future Trunks Modifications: I realized the other day that I needed a SSFuture Trunks for my Androids Saga display, since my other one is in the Trunks Saga. 3 years apart, got to be different lol It was a simple custom, though I had to use apoxie to fill in a crack on his neck from boiling and popping his original head too soon, so that was an extra hour of work. Other than a head switch, I had to repaint all of the skin to match and repaint his jacket and undershirt, because they had scuff marks. Good as new now.

The original head on that body is no treat, so these look really cool.

Today is August 26th and 2 years ago, my first son was born. With a strong desire to name him after a DBZ character, it was tough to convince a wife that didn't really care much for the series at the time. So I ran down a list of names and got a lot of "no way" answers from her lol Finally, "Taiken" hit the nail. She really liked it and I didn't argue. I liked it too. I wanted a name that was unique and that no living person that I knew, had. It was perfect. Even though the english anime version only refers to him as Master Chin, Chin Taiken is his real name. To make it better, he kind of looks like an older version of myself or my son eventually. It was just fitting.
So, in honor of Taiken's 2nd birthday, I made him a fully customized Chin Taiken action figure! He may not be able to play with it, but will be able to admire it for years to come. Hopefully someday, it'll be on display in his home and he can tell his grandchildren about it lol "Your great grandfather named me after a cartoon Martial Arts Master....and then made an action figure of him."
Master Chin Taiken (DB-Fortuneteller Baba Saga)Date: August 2014 Creation Time: 17+ Hours Difficulty: 6/10Head: Dr. Slump Mini Figure Body: Irwin Series 3 Master Roshi Legs: 1984 Kenner Ghostbusters Winston Shoes: Deagostini SS4Goku Arms: Irwin Series 7 Goku Modifications: I think this custom might go under the radar as one of my best works. About 50% of the work went into the head/face. As you see, the original head needed work and more than you think. I carved some of the back hair off and made a new hair line back there, while sculpting the neck as well. His head was shaped like a Chara Puchi head, so you customizers know they require additional head sculpt and a designed neck. I had to cut away some more hair where his hair 'parts' in both places above the ears for accuracy, then had to sand it like crazy, because that soft plastic does not sand smooth easily. Onto the face, I sculpted new eyes, a new mouth, and new cheek bones, which were the toughest of all. Only the eyebrows and nose are original. After adding his little bang, front hair strand, and lots of more sanding, I painted it all. That was a tedious task, but I must say....I think I captured his look quite well! Very pleased. I gave the neck some basic articulation too. For the body, I had to get rid of the folds that ran down the center of the Irwin Roshi coat. As you see, Taiken only has the straps there. For the arms, the shoulder-to-elbow pieces are from an Irwin Roshi too, but I added apoxie to the shoulders to add some much needed width. The folded sleeves that were originally at the Irwin Roshi's wrists are now at Taiken's elbows. From there, I used Irwin Goku's arms and had to carve away his wristbands, then sculpt apoxie down smooth to give him wristband-less arms. I like how I made his arms pretty thick and muscular because Taiken had some jacked up forearms anyway The arms have tiny screws inserted at the elbow for articulation and poseability. Moving on, his legs were the easiest piece. Coming from a 1984 Ghostbusters Winston figure I got in a recent random lot on ebay, they matched what I needed (FYI good legs to use on Murasaki eventually too). I only had to carve away at the hips, so they could fit Roshi's leg inserts (which reminds me that I had to make the peg holes wider too). Then I just got rid of the shoes and added new ones from a Deagostini SS4Goku, which needed some minor shaping (one was bigger than the other) and I gave them articulation just like the elbows. It was one of those glossy, low quality Deago figures. After all of that, I painted every single spot on the figure except the white lines on the shoes because they were already there (probably painted 10 coats on the coat) but just to make sure I matched the colors the best I could. I am really proud of this custom, even for a character that was only in one episode. I'm really glad I was able to make him now, and just in time for my son's birthday. I hope he'll cherish it as much as I. Enjoy! BEFOREAFTER

It turned out awesome, dude! It looks like the elbows still have articulation?
And congratz on your son's 2nd birthday!
Also, I'm curious, what were some of the "NO WAY!" names before settling on Taiken?

Yup, it has elbow articulation, so the arms can twist.
For the names she couldn't stand that I had suggested, there was Gohan, Pigero, Aka, Atla, Forte, Ipana, Kogu, Katas, Korin, Nam, Shin, Sky, Tapion, So for the first 4 or 5 months, we were strongly considering Tien. Then my sister and her husband met an Asian waiter named Tien and that went out the window. She liked Leon (the huge Lion in GT) and so did I, but I guess the name is interracial lol not that it was an issue. But Taiken ended up being favored. She also liked Ledgic.
Now, our 2nd son is coming in December and we're very strongly considering Zeshin, one of the kids who manned the invisible ship that Gohan and Krillin helped.

Wow, that's cool. Maybe Taiken will become an avid Martial Artist someday and name a move of his "The Phantom-Star." I'm sure mom would like that last part, lol.

Dude, you knocked this one out of the park! Taiken was pretty cool from what I remember, and you made a great representation of him.
