I fell on AOT, couldn't resist on waiting so much for 2nd season, I have read till volume 14. In a few days is coming out the 15, so I will be buying it as soon as possible. The volume 16 will probably wrap up the second season. The author said the series would be composed of about 20 mangas, if so we are soon coming to an end. I hope everything will be pretty much tied up when all is said and done. That Jin looks good, but somehow he looks a bit old to me, a pity it wasn't even realised. That gif is the silent badass in him. In the other hand, I like this trading diorama most. myfigurecollection.net/picture/346287&ref=item%3A7859 Very cool. About Parasyte, Fair enough, it's a good way of explaining it. I just hated the character. serenitydarko Which was your MAL name so I can add you??

Hahahaha You love Durarara a lot, don't you? I will try to explain it tomorrow, but I can anticipate something. The way I rate them depends on many factors, like how the show itself is, how much I enjoyed it, if it impacted me enough to want to know more and buy the manga, if I would buy some figures of it, the time when I saw it, the influence I got from it, if I would recommend it to someone non-anime lover. And I also rate the shows in comparison with each other I've watched. I will put you some examples as how it works for me. For example, I have put DB and DBZ a 10 because of the nostalgia and how much the show impacted me back in the time (about 15 years ago), the story, the character designs, and I buy lot of merch of it. But if I watched it today (I don't even dare lol), I would probably put it an 8 or 9 because of the fillers, the slow pace and how long it is. In the other hand, I think I would rate the manga a 10 because it is the real material from Tori and mangas are most of the times way better because of the pace. I'm collecting the Color manga edition and it's really good. Gantz for example, I find the idea of the plot to be very interesting, plus has a bit of everything, loads of action & gore, cool gear designs, some funny moments and a bit of nudity/sex. I read that the manga is waaay better so I rate it a 6 while waiting to do so (I expect to give the manga a 8 or 9). If I had to judge the anime fairly and without involving other factors I would have to give it a 4 at most, because the anime pace is so slow, the characters act retarded most of the times, and it's only 1/7 of what the manga is (the anime was very polemic back in the day because of the excessive blood/nudity and was rushed it to end very soon (the manga was still going on), it only contains 8 volumes out of the 37, and the ending is obviously different. Captain Tsubasa was great when I was young, it's very nostalgic. I would rate it lower than a 7 (I made a bit of a trick here, I would have given it a 10 back in the day, I always wanted to be Oliver or Lenders ) if I watched nowadays, you know. One grows up. Damn, that was a brick! Next episode, tomorrow!!

Hahaha, I can understand all that. DBZ has that nostalgia factor for me too, but I've also watched it 5 or 6 times as an adult. I find it very difficult to weigh against newer anime that I'm seeing now. I look forward to what you have to say tomorrow! And yes, I adore DRRR!

About DRRR, I watched the 2 first seasons way before I created my mal account, so to tell you the truth I had a bit of a trouble to rate them because I don't remember very good. But what I was sure of is that I liked the first season more than the second. It was either a 7 & 6 or 8 & 7, but decided to go with the first. I would summarize the series as quite entertaining, pretty easy going and has quite funny moments, but overall it didn't make me 'wow' too much. The plot is not the best. I have to say that from the 3 main student characters I only really like 1 (Masaoki), I don't care much about Mikado, and I hate Anri quite a bit. I just don't like his double facet. She's rather boring. The combo Izaya/Shizuo is the best of the show obviously. I also have to say that I was pretty dissapointed how they developed the Celty character after seeing her first appearance, which I expected her to be something obscure, violent and intractable. But turned out to be just the absolutely opposite, too friendly with everyone. Don't get me wrong, the character is cool, but I really expected her to set a dark tone on this show and to share her moments of blood and gore. In the other hand I feel that the "good" guys always win no matter what, like there is no real opposition for them because they are pretty much invincible (having Shizuo and Celty in your side, what else do you need? too overpowered). I didn't see the show adult enough for me, but it's still good and entertaining and will watch the 3rd season for sure! I'm sure I left many things unsaid, just some quick thoughts, and to be honest I don't have the show too fresh in my memory.

Thanks for the detailed reply! Sorry it took a couple days to actually sit down and read it ><. The overall vibe the series has combined with the humor (both overt and subtle) are my favorite parts of the series. And ShizuoxIzaya of course. The plot is not overly complicated but the way it is presented to the viewer in pieces and from so many different perspectives was very compelling for me. The simplicity of the plot works really well with the way it was executed without bogging down the series by having it be too complicated. Masaoki Kida is my favorite of the three students so well. Anyone who can pull off saying boobylicious gets a pass in my book haha. Anri is annoying (but I find 90% of female characters annoying) and Mikado is dull for the majority of the first season. he has his moments, but he's nothing special. But I don't think he needs to be. It goes without saying that the bad blood between Shizuo and Izaya is a main draw for DRRR. I've discussed their relationship and motivations at length with friends and I love them both as complex characters. They seem pretty basic at first glance, but their is much more depth to them when analyzed. As for Celty, I went into DRRR not knowing anything, other than knowing what the 3 Alter figures looked like (and really wanting the boys). When we're first introduced to the black rider I too was expecting her to be some badass, ruthless character who was merciless. However, I LOVE the Celty we actuaclly got. She is downright adorable and so childlike in her inexperience sometimes. The juxtaposition to her actual character and the way outsiders view her is fantastic. She's still a badass, but she is a real character first and foremost (unlike, say Mikasa or Saber from the Fate series). DRRR for me isn't about "who is going to win". It's more about the journey and watching Izaya's plans all unfold. It is his game and we're merely spectators. I think you have to watch it more like how you'd observe a game of chess, not for good vs evil, but for the turn by turn strategy and bigger picture . Anyway, that's my rant haha. I also LOVED the OST

Np. And yes, I forgot to say that one thing I also like is the way how the episodes are edited and how the story is unfolded later on and everything is connected. Also got me confused at times. The phone messages, inet conversations and so on was pretty cool too. Everyone is connected on the networks. I haven't read the novels and have only watched the first 2 seasons, but Izaya is supposed to be something like a god? He's everywhere, knows everything and has all kind of contacts. Even when he would not stand a chance against Shizuo if it was cause of pure strenght, Shizuo is unable to produce him any damage, he's like an squirrel. Also is very smart. Many time have passed since I watched the show, not sure which one I like most of these 2, but I'm lining towards Izaya. What do you mean by saying Celty is a real character unlike Mikasa? Didn't understand that part sorry. Yeah I know, for me isn't about that either, that's why I say this show is defined by bringing pure entertainment above all. But still you know how fights are going to turn out when it happens. Agree, the OST is quite good, and I like all the op's and ed's. 'Trust me' is lovely.

Izaya is just a normal human. Or as normal as a human can be in DRRR's universe (which also includes Baccano! haha). He has omnipotent like qualities but it's all part of his schtick. He loves humanity more than anything, which is why he's always playing these games, too see how his pawns will react to his grand scheme. He despises Shizuo so much because he doesn't view Shizuo as a human. More like an animal running on base instinct. So when Shizuo shows signs of intelligence that thwart Izaya's plans, he gets even angrier at Shizuo. Perhaps Shizuo can't damage or kill Izaya because they secretly love each other but just can't come to terms with it yet As for the Mikasa comment, Celty is a more fleshed out character than Mikasa. When you ask someone why they like Mikasa they usually say "she's a bad@ss" but can't actually name any distinct or endearing qualities about her as a character. Take away her bad@ss titan fighting skills and why do people like Mikasa so much? Most probably wouldn't. Whereas with Celty, she has so much character and is simple adorable AND she's a bad@ss.

I see. Well, I still would not discard him being one type of a superior entity, let's wait and see how it advances. If not, he's just as overpowered as Shizuo, but with it being omnipotence and intelligence. I concur with you that Celty is more fleshed as a character (the differences btwn both stories also help being that way), but I still like Mikasa way more than the headless bug, sorry

Every time I think I know who I like better, the other one does something awesome or sexy and I'm back to being indescisive. So I'll compromise and just take both
