Yes, they changed their terms of service and added a ridiculous amount of ads, making the website a pile of hot garbage:
1. You can't do 3rd party hosting unless you upgrade your account and pay them hundreds of dollars a year. (So no picture posting on forums unless you upgrade) 2. Older accounts that may have gone over the bandwidth limit are locked unless you upgrade. You cannot even access it to retrieve your pictures.(So basically users are locked out and their accounts are being held ransom.) 3. And the ads. The website has become a slow pile of hot garbage with all of the ads that they added.
So yeah, basically they just drove most of their users/traffic elsewhere. I highly recommend using Imgur. It's free. You can host third party pics to post in forums, same as the old PB. Also, no ads.
All the best

All the best I'm confused, though... why use a website to hold your photos when you can just have them saved to your computer and hit the "Add Attachment" button?

DBF is definitely the exception to the rule. And also, some might prefer to post the whole pic instead of a thumbnail.

Still, that's a massively unneeded extra step in most cases. When posting directly to this forum, you can enlarge the photo to its full size so I don't see why people would do that here.

There's a limit to the amount of pictures that can be added to the forum via the add attachment button I believe. Bran would have to delete older pics to allow space for new ones.
I never really liked Photobucket to begin with, always preferred Imgur.

Speaking of attachments, we have a very, very limited storage amount here. I am going to have to delete every picture this weekend. The attachment storage here is only for temporary purposes. It gets full--I delete all. We're at 93%. Photobucket is $399/yr now. The only reason some of my accounts are working on here is because they are linked to my AOL accounts and AOL had a deal with Photobucket a couple years ago to do something or other for AOL members. Long story short, skipping all the details I don't remember, my hosting through those accounts will die this December supposedly.

Fees, storage limits... it's all a bunch of nonsense.

Photobucket recently started requiring a premium account to host images, or something to that effect. So they are now going to way of the imageshack?
