So my photobucket says my images cant be used for 3rd party hosting unless I pay an annual fee of 399$ I googled it(photobucket/500) and other people are talking about it. But im still not sure. Am I the victim of a scam or something? Can other people see my images? If not does anyone know how I can edit the links to make them work without rehosting the photos on a nother site and editing my posts?

Noticed it on some older Figuarts threads (I've been transferring many images to Imgur long before this happened), thought it might have been a temporary glitch...doesn't seem to be the case. Photobucket Breaks Image Links Across the Internet"Want embedded Photobucket images to continue loading in forums or on your website? Be prepared to pay $399 per year."Rough estimate, this may have blocked out one or two thirds of the images here. I'd recommend switching over to Imgur for future posts.

I had thought photobucket had already tried to pull this crap years ago and the. Relented. I moved off to Imgur years back for that reason!

I am so furious about Photobucket doing this, that I'm beyond words, and having trouble typing. Every checklist on DBF as far as I know is hosted on Photobucket and every single picture of my custom figures and collection certainly is.

They have to reduce the price significantly. This is absurd 399$ is an absolute joke. Is there any service that allows you to change the host of a photo by editing its link? You know like kinda hijack it and rehost it?

timone317Once I've hosted an image on Imgur how do I post it as a photo? I can only find the option to copy the url link.

doomprevails88After uploading an image, right click it and "view image". Copy the url from that.

You know like kinda hijack it and rehost it? Some web developer may come up with something like that in the future, we can only hope, but as far as this web developer (me) knows, it would just have to be a manual process that would be a major ordeal. It might theoretically be possible for me to write some jQuery to change URLs automatically, but in order for it to work, the folder structure and file names would have to be absolutely identical to what they were on your photobucket account, and I honestly don't think I could make it work. A partial URL change isn't something I've had success trying to write in the past.

Bit of an update on all of this, I logged into my Photobucket account a few days ago after leaving it alone for roughly a year. Doing so seems to have triggered an automated email (received it tonight) stating some features on my account will be disabled due to excessive third party hosting. Once I saw this I checked out my old posts on the "Catch of the Day" thread (just because there are a large number of my images there) and it looks like my images are no longer visible. Many other Photobucket images still display in the thread but that could be because a lot of users haven't logged into Photobucket for a long time.

Read this blog.photobucket.com/please-review-latest-changes-photobucket/and particularly this blog.photobucket.com/photobucket-launches-unlimited-3rd-party-hosting-plan/tl;dr: surprise, surprise, their site that is so full of ads (that it could make my Firefox crash), isn't a sustainable income for them anymore because so many people are using adblock and ublock origin. Coincidentally, I installed ublock origin specifically because I kept crashing and occasionally getting messages about malware from my virus scanner, as a result of going to photobucket's site. They can't afford to do that anymore, so they came up with the worst plan in history, to ruin their business and piss everyone off. Also, I would imagine that my 2 working accounts, that are connected to AOL accounts (where AOL had some sort of offer to upgrade our photobucket accounts for free) are likely to not work anymore after December 31, 2018, as I imagine they fall under a "Plus Account." So at some point, I'm going to need to move every single DBF Checklist (that I hosted... and see if I can manage to download the ones other people hosted) to some other image host. I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I don't want to move them to the DBF Photobucket, which is linked to an AOL account, as it is implied that it won't work after 12/31/18. Though that would give me one more year to do it... Boddah and Capsule x Nike hosted a lot of the images that likely don't work anymore, so I may need to get with them about obtaining their pics or something. I don't know yet.

It really is horrible cracker lost his checklists too it seems. Atleast the udm. Ive been reluctant to post anything or edit any of my old posts with rehosted images til i settle on a good hosting site that seems fast and easy. I downloaded imgur to try it out last week. Ive saved atleast 3000 awesome pictures from this site and others Branjita if you need to request images from former users relevant posts, or new images for redux checklist projects, I may have some of them.

Thanks for the heads up, doomprevails88. I received the email from Photobucket the other week, but I too have been waiting to see what a good alternative will be. I don't have that many photos, so I may just end up using Imgur.

Hey everyone, it's been a while, hope you guys are all doing well. I'm aware of this bs with Photobucket, and I'm working on a way to resolve it. I have everything backed up on my hard drive just in case I have to host them somewhere else. Also, I can send the pic backup to the admins so I'm not the only one with access to them just in case something like this happens again in the future.

What's with all the Photobucket usage on here? I can't look at 90% of the photos posted even if I visit the site.

I don't know why so many people use it, but Photobucket recently started requiring a premium account to host images, or something to that effect.
