Maybe its just my imagination, but anyone else think broly looks kinda smaller compared to the figuarts version?

Im really feeling the figure rise line lately, I understand that saiyan sells but I hope/wish they at least make like different versions of the figuarts versions, ex: figuarts ssj goku/ figure rise super saiyan 2 goku, frieza/ figure rise mecha frieza, vegeta/ battle damaged vegeta. Nappa/ non armor nappa.

This line sure is getting a diverse variety of characters. If they happen to make Yamcha, I'm sure I'll buy it, even though I absolutely hate building model kits!
It'll be interesting to see if they end up making some of the large villains! I'll just quietly hope that they go crazy and make Dr. Wheelo.

cmon figure rise, step your game up, figuarts just released a bunch of new prototypes make different characters please, or at the very least make different versions of the characters you want to compete with figuarts with.

And those Figuarts will cost more than twice as much despite the similar size, articulation, plastic count, etc.

To be fair you can’t really compare the pricing of Figuarts to model kits. The Figuarts are obviously a much higher quality figure all around and don’t need to be built

I actually enjoy building figure rise figures. My main complaint of them is they always match what their figures with the figuarts line. If youre going to do that, at least make like different version of that character. ex: figuarts released sword trunks, figure rise should at least make their sword trunks with the tank top and without the jacket instead, figuarts released frieza, hey figure rise make a cyborg or a 100% frieza instead. etc etc etc

Bandai ain't in the business of competing with itself. They are catering to two very different markets with their figures and model kits, you can tell by a lot of the figuarts fans constant bashing of these model kits, some people feel the need to hate on them unnecessarily. Yeah we get it, you think Figuarts are the best, you see someone give a decent review of a figure rise on YouTube and all you see is comments saying they aren't as good as Figuarts, buy Figuarts instead! Figure rise has only been around for over a year or so now and the line is going strong, they've released 16 so far, I think? But, they are obviously making all the most popular characters in their most iconic forms first. You don't start a brand new line with obscure characters. They do make clever use of reusable molds for certain characters, to maximize profit/efficiency and hopefully in turn encourages them to make more unique/one off molds that can't be reused so easily, like Androids 17 & 18, and the upcoming Broly.

As a long time Gundam collector, I can tell you that Bandai Hobby and Tamashii Nations really don't care if their lines overlap. For example, in October 2010, Bandai Hobby released a model kit of the Sinanju in the High Grade Universal Century line, and then just a month late Tamashii Nations released their Sinanju as part of the Robot Damashii line. Also, in general Bandai Hobby won't reveal a bunch of prototypes that may or may not get made the way Tamashii Nations does (although I guess they did when they launched the Figure Rise Standard line last year). Most of the time, when they show something off at a hobby show, it's in the pipeline and will be out in a few months.

Im fan of both lines. Im speaking as a fan, if you collect both line like I do you will feel the redundancy. But yeah I like them both, just wish as a fan they make at least different versions of their figuarts counterpart. I dont know, i feel like they are competing with figuarts. I think what they are selling is that they are cheaper than the figuarts hence why they have similar figures.

Yeah we get it, you think Figuarts are the best, you see someone give a decent review of a figure rise on YouTube and all you see is comments saying they aren't as good as Figuarts, buy Figuarts instead! It's hardly unnecessary. If trash is trash, why should people pretend as if it isn't trash? If I hate the model kits, it's because I had high hopes for them. I love building model kits and always enjoy inspecting the designs. Throw in optional parts and make it so the heads can go on multiple bodies, I'm very happy (it's mostly why I'm still a fan of the Figuarts line despite the many flaws - optional heads/hands/faces have become essential to me). I see that the variant Gokus are all compatible with each other. The skin tones don't match (which is bad) but it's amazing that if you have five different Gokus with different heads and gis, you can swap the heads around and have automatic variants. That's great. BUT...but...then you see the model kits and how awful they look, and all enthusiasm goes out the window. Frankly, I'm surprised I haven't seen more complaints from model kit fans. As far as I'm aware, Bandai model kits typically have superb likenesses. (and, even if that isn't always the case.....) A figure/model kit can be well designed (as far as the engineering goes) AND an aesthetic failure (which is what the model kits are, and that's exactly what they SHOULDN'T be). I said this earlier and I'll say it again - I don't want to buy interpretations, I want to buy accurate (or at the very least, expertly crafted) recreations. I believe the FR kits are designed digitally and if this is the case, subpar designs are unacceptable. Digital design has made it VERY easy to achieve amazing sculpts. Since the standard Figure-Rise line has such terrible sculpts, something Bandai would have to go out of their way to make if the kits were made digitally, just what is the reason for that? Is it so they can double dip and return to the Master Grade line in the future with better character accuracy AND higher prices? Well, I don't think anyone would argue that this is a good thing. TL;DR - I'm ready and willing to buy DBZ model kits but not when they look bad.

well at least in figure rise's defense, they have been stepping up their quality. The krillin and the goku i really like. The broly and the ssj blue seems to be in the right direction as well. although their figure rise mechanics is the ones that got me on this line.

TL;DR - I'm ready and willing to buy DBZ model kits but not when they look bad.The thing is it's all subjective. What you think is trash, I think look pretty good. Like to me, Figure Rise Perfect Cell looks like a way better representation than the figuarts one, which is too small, too skinny and has a weird looking face. Same goes for Krillin, the figuarts one just looks.. off, like krillin has a case of down syndrome going on. To me most of figuarts, except for the newer releases that have recently came out in the last year or so(Nappa, Tien and Yamcha all look amazing), look nothing like the characters, which is why I'm surprised to hear someone like yourself complain about character accuracy when many figuarts look god awful. That's not to say I don't have criticisms of Figure rise either, there are things about some of them I dislike or wish they did differently, but nothing can be perfect, not Figure rise, figuarts, or banpresto. But that's just my personal taste, you might think they all of figuarts look amazing. I'm just trying to get the point across that just because you think something looks bad, that doesn't mean it is.

Im gonna have to agree with Timone on this, figuarts i think still has the better quality overall, thats not to say figure rise sucks, it is still head and shoulders above jakks irwin etc. however, like you said, personal preferences.
