This is something I've been very curious about, what kind of music do you guys listen to? Anybody make music and/or play instruments?
I'm currently really into Daft Punk's new album, as well as the new Boards of Canada album. Also been listening to a lot of Mr. Oizo lately. I play the keyboard/synth, guitar and bass, and also make music with Gameboys. Hoping to release some tracks soon, and eventually want to do some DBZ themed tracks, using samples from the show and some of the old Toonami beats.

I listen to almost exclusively Vocal Trance (a genre of electronic music), but when I'm not at home I listen to Country. I'm really passionate about music even though I do zero research on artists/bands and don't go to concerts.
Here's an example Vocal Trance song I really like that's relatively new to me:
I just heard this one this week, and I love it too.
Our European members might actually recognize the stuff, but Vocal Trance isn't exactly played on radio stations in America.

Gonna have to check that out when I have time bran, vocal trance sounds interesting. I listen to tons of stuff rap, r&b, pop, country, rock, etc. If it sounds good and has great lyrics I'm down for it. Plus being mexican and knowing spanish opens up a whole new world of music. Usually I listen to stuff after its popularity passes, idk why. Stuff I hate would be like metal and scream, any space bar music like techno, electric, house, dub step etc.

Ah yes the Beatles..... We all live in the yellow submarine.... I need to listen to them again! As for today's/this era's "music"... Is it even music? Auto tune voices, no actual good lyrics, no meaning, and tunes being reused. Don't get me wrong though, there's still some people out there making good stuff.

Stuff I hate would be any space bar music like techno, electric, house, dub step etc. Says he needs to check out vocal trance then Says the above quote^^ You're a special one Z. Music for me is pretty much life.... My tastes are very varied. Grew up listening to hiphop and metal, started DJ'ing and going to raves so all genres of electronica are high on the list for me. Also spent many years going to hardcore and punk shows.... I have grown out of these genres a bit, simply because alot of my favorite bands have broken up or don't play out anymore, and the newer generation is just a bunch of half ass knockoffs of the bands I loved. As far as making music goes , my focuses in the studio are hiphop, dubstep, trance and electro. I write, produce, engineer and compose with a friend of mine. Definitely been known to kick a few bars as well. Our newest project is pretty much a fusion of the 4 genres I just mentioned , pretty stoked to get deeper into it. I think the only person here who has ever heard any of my stuff is Boddah .... I'll try to change that once I get my new Pro.

Check out the videos I posted they'll tell you what vocal trance is better than words can put it. I haven't listened to this recently, but I noticed it on my favorites list on youtube, so it is probably worth checking out if you want a variety of vocal trance mixed into half an hour.

I listen to a lot of goth metal. Also classic 80's through 90's rock. I used to be into Rap when I was younger. But in general I am very eclectic with my musical tastes. I'll be listening to Type O Negative one minute then the soundtrack of Wicked the next. So far my iPod has over 4500 songs that cover pretty much most genres. One thing I can't stand is Dance/Club/Techno music.
This is what I am listening to at the moment:
Steelheart. If you have ever watched the movie Rockstar this is Miljenko Matijevic who did the vocals for Mark Wahlberg. His voice is incredible.

Finally...an excuse to post this song. I could go on for days about my love for music but I'll stick with this for now. I regularly watch a channel called ShortsHD on DirecTV, they play a wide variety of short films. During an animation block they played a stop motion short called "More"... I was interested in it so I dug around for some info on it. A musician by the name of Kenna used the short in a music video for a song called "Hell Bent". Apparently the music video version was shown on Toonami's Midnight Run back in 2001 so maybe some of you have already heard it. I just thought it was really cool how all my interests seemed to collide like that...and the song was really good. Other than that I've been listening to an online channel that plays songs from anime soundtracks and some Japanese pop rock. Radionomy - Subarashiitiming is too crazy. In the process of typing this post the Subarashii channel started playing the Super Mario theme. Weird coincidence. (I also write my own music and can play piano and guitar but I won't go into it.)OMG. Today is incredibly weird. After I posted this a song (Brightdown by Nami Tamaki) from one of my favorite shows (D. Gray Man) started playing. Something tells me I need to buy some lottery tickets today.

Very interesting responses Bran, I had never heard of genre name vocal trance before, but I've heard (what I believe to be) vocal trance DJ's at raves. Not too bad, good dancing music. I don't really listen to trance/dubstep/techno too much, but I've been to a ton raves/festivals like EDC, Nocturnal, etc. and listen to other electronic genres. Going to concerts and festivals is what I used to live on. I've met a few of my favorite bands and have a bunch of autographs, but not from any really big names. My music taste kinda changes with the seasons, but my all time favorite bands that I always go back to are Nirvana, The Misfits, MGMT, HORSE the Band, Led Zeppelin, Boards of Canada, Crystal Castles, and Beck.
