Funny thing is a girl got me into dbz, not funny because she was a girl but funny because nobody knew what dbz was at the time, it was in the 3rd grade and she had a bandai ssj3 goku mini figure, one that I was lucky enough to acquire. That weekend I went to japan town sf to find some dbz figures of my own, I found sbc goku, ssj goku, ssj vegeta, and trunks. From there I was hooked. I still go to the same shops till this day, nice to see them still around 20 years later.

I don't even remember the SBC figures ever being released here in Australia That's very unfortunate, well at least they're available to you now somewhat, I remember buying them for like $12 per figure back in the good ole days lol. I'm sure you can find some for under $20 on some sites, depending on the search.

Right on, well I keep telling ppl, if there's something worth owning either it being currently released or has already been released and you can afford to, snap them up now. The trend in collecting is that prices never tend to go down. I'm sure you already know that though, I'd hate to see you miss out on some awesome stuff

My sbc collecting started in 97 when bandai put out a line of toys.
Having only seen the ocean dub up to the beginning of the namek saga I was intrigued more about the super saiyans and knowing what else went on in the series.
I bought all the bandai 97s and took to he internet to download clips of video. With my new 56k modem I could watch these 4 mb clips in about 10 minutes unless someone picked up the phone or called.
I remember seeing trunks kill freeze and gohan turning super saiyan 2. I looked further and found the super battle collection from Japan and learned there was more. My collecting of this series took about 8 years always upgrading to yellow hair if possible. For a long time it seemed like just a rumor that 12, 13 and 17 were even available as a yellow haired copy I finished 00-27 a few years back.
I didn't know that the 92s were a thing until 5 years ago. I ended up always wanting a 3 pack but could never afford one.
I'm now 4 92s away and have a 3 pack thanks to capsulex
If it wasn't for the sbcs/ 97s I wouldn't have researched and watched all dbz and wouldn't have collected anything in the first place

i started watching dbz back in 94 or 93, my cousins introduced me to the show and ive been hooked for the last 20 years. like evryone, the sbc lines were my earliest figures. and proud to say its my very childhood toy, it has brought me a lot of nostalgia which made me collect it the moment i started last year.
man, im blessed that it took me only one year to complete the sbc series (by complete i mean 100% out of 150% (originals including the yellow hairs), the other 50% is the 92 versions and the re-release, i consider them optional TBH). i just recently started on the re-release collection, the 92's are pretty damn rare as it is so i know they wont go anywhere, im gonna collect the re-release just in case they spike up in prices in the future.
