Didn't see the introductions forum before, and figured that I should probably at least post something in here, at least while I'm still new!
A long time fan of Dragonball in totality. GT, while not the best, and some of the dialogue is truly cringe worthy, even still had cool designs and concepts. Otherwise I'm totally down with all 3 series.
Loved the new BoG movie, and looking forward to this summers release!
Let's see more about myself. I grew up a little early for Dragonball/Z's release in the US, but caught it before taking a bus to middle school in the mornings when it first started airing over here. I'm a HUGE video game nerd, and have gotten into all of the Playstation 2 era DBZ fighters that were 2D fighters. Rented the Tenkaichi style 3D games several times over their iterations and just could NOT get into them. Finally it *Clicked* with Xenoverse for me.
The name Drowning Rabbit is from college. We played together as a team in Counter-Strike (1.6, calling back to the turn of the century here! ) and we had an idea to have our names be <VERB> <ANIMAL>. Well of course everyone chose something badass/deadly, like Stinging Mongoose, and Pouncing Tiger, I was more going for an amusing title, so I made a sad non-threatening name... and here we are!
Aside from my other interests, the more interesting part of why I'm here? The S.H. Figuarts line of DBZ figures. I hemmed and hawed over spending $40 on the Frieza figure for a year when it was in stock on Amazon and ultimately gave up. I recently saw the Broly that was released and that sparked my interest, in seeing how articulated they are. Well, now I'm on a quest to .... well... collect them all I guess. I'm not looking for sealed, sitting in a box figures. These figures are meant to be played with and posed. My real drive is to get them into dynamic poses, and do photography sessions with some really nice setups. Including both with a plain desk kind of display to show them fighting, or otherwise interestingly posed, and also outside, fighting atop a "Mountain" or something. My wife is a photographer and regularly does a photo a day on a site called BlipFoto, so I was looking to do something similar. Some days will be mundane, sure, just figures contemplating stuff, but other days could be epic.
I'm just starting my collection, and trying to NOT get bootlegs where it can be avoided, but I mean, I'm not going to pass up paying $30 for a figure vs. $300 for the same mold and decently similar quality. Speaking of, today I have the SDCC Vegeta "KO" version ( Datong knock off I assumed ) coming in and I'm super excited to get it. First S.H. Figuarts that I'll have! Then tomorrow, apparently legitimate SS Goku, Broly, Piccolo (Manga) come in as well. Got all this years releases pre-ordered already too. I'm diving in head first like Pete Rose!
Well I've kind of rambled enough I guess. If you're looking for someone who enjoys DBZ on Steam or PSN, my ID is DrowningRabbit in both of those places as well. However, of note, I play Xenoverse on my PS4.
