Did Irwin create a Tien figure? I am really big into collecting the Irwin/Jakks line and I was wondering if they created a Tien figure.

A prototype was shown but never went into production.

Possibly the reason why it never went into production then.

Possibly the reason why it never went into production then. Or because Irwin went bankrupt not too long afterwards.

It's almost certain the Tien figures that Jakks released were actually Irwin figures they got when they took over the Dragonball license from them. Many of their first figures were actually Irwin figures like Pikkon.

All of their figures represented their characters quite well, minus some with large heads I.e. Krillin, Dende, Yajirobe. I am sure that Tien would have turned out just fine .

Those particular prototypes were literally made of clay as far as I know, so you really can't judge them harshly. However the Recoome prototype had a great looking face. Much better than the one Jakks put on the body.

Yes. They made that striking fighter Tien and also that Buu saga one, which Jakks later reissued. I don't think they ever made him in his signature green gi though...

Jakks' early Z Tien was fortunately decent, though their farmer's-tan Tien was hideous.

Many of their first figures were actually Irwin figures like Pikkon. Yeah, I recall that Irwin released pictures of the models for series 12 that included their original picture of Tien. After they went out of business, Jakks took up the mold and released it. This image is from japanimation.com from the web archive way back when. In the middle was the prototype for the Tien figure. Sorry it's so tiny!
