I bought a 12" Venom for Hildegarn. I only took off the jaw from its head with nothing add on it yet from the picture I show. It's easy to find one on ebay around twenty something, a cheapest choice for 12" figure. Not sure if that's the same venom but bran was/is making that.

I was talking to Branjita about possibly using some Chara Puchi heads for some Figuarts customs. He pointed me towards his checklist thread which has pictures and has suggestions for what heads may work with 5" customs and what won't. It was a really good start. He also suggested I start a thread to see if anyone else had some helpful information, too. Hopefully, some of you have a little experience with this. At the moment, I was wondering if I could use some of the heads for Goku, Gohan(younger), Yamcha, or Tien. I know some of them might be a little small. I was, also, thinking about making a few customs using the Datong Vegeta body as the base. I noticed that, with the exception of some notable major characters, the majority of soldiers/henchmen that you see from Frieza and other aliens are around the same height as Vegeta. I love having all the major villains, but it would be great to have some canon fodder that I could have the Z Fighters tearing through. Random henchmen gives me the freedom to make up characters and expand to a lot of other Chara Puchi heads. Does anyone know if all the Chara Puchi figures are about the same size? Branjita suggested the DWC figures, too. I was thinking about using some of those for extra Goku heads. I like the SSG Goku head. I know people have used the DXF SSG Goku head on the Figuarts Goku, and it looked pretty good. Does anyone think other DXF heads would work well for custom, too? I was looking at one of the DXF Kuroko's Basketball figures for the head. It was listed at 6.3" compared to the Goku figure which was listed at 6". But, the head on it looked a little on the smaller side. So, I thought it might still work. Any helpful information would be great! Does anyone else know of any other figure lines that would work with Figuarts? Maybe we could put together a nice resource for heads that will work for figuarts customs? Thanks, everyone!

The DWC Yamcha head would likely come close to working well with a Figuarts Goku body, the only problem would be the hair is too short. The bootlegs of that head are pathetic quality, so you'd need to repaint it for certain. Tien... I can't think of anything except the Popy Mini Big Head one on the orange base. There are two of them, maybe three. I have the two DB ones. Their heads are a little bigger than Jakks' Tien head so they should be ok, but they don't look mature since they are DB. What saga Gohan? Goku heads are too numerous for me to try to think about lol. Most Chara Puchi heads are 5 inch scale or smaller. Based on this image you should be able to get an idea of which ones might be acceptable and which ones won't work. Here's the Popy mini big head checklist. Most of these are 5 inch scale or smaller, with few exceptions. dragonballfigures.com/thread/35/popy-anime-heroes-visual-guideThe ones on white bases (see M5's post in that topic) of characters in ultimate technique poses, are much larger than the orange base figures, and range from probably good to too big for a Figuarts body. I only own the two Yamchas from DB and Tao Pai Pai, so I don't have a lot of reference. Basically all of them are too large for Irwin/Jakks 5 inch scale customs. Here's the DWC checklist. dragonballfigures.com/thread/7/banpresto-world-collectable-figure-visualThey range from 5 inch scale to, gosh, probably 8 or 9 inch scale. If you ask about a specific character I can tell you most likely how big it is. You're stuck with bootlegs for most of these characters because the legit ones are rare and very expensive.

Hey everyone, (I'm not sure where to post this) but I have a question: Has anyone thought about making a custom Nappa out of the SH Figuarts Broly? I've been looking at doing it but I'm not sure if it will work or not. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

I don't think it would work using broly's as base body. Broly is big and wide compare to nappa's body proportion. You'll have to shortened him, you have to sculpt from scratch his lower torso and the hardest part is thinning him down for example making his shoulder less bulky.
Personally I wouldn't mess with broly, with his price going up so fast you can make a profit out of him in just couple months(that's just me always looking for $$$$). Plus since his sale is really GOOD, chances are we will start seeing the big characters like nappa for example.
I have seen someone made nappa using zangief from sota sf line his probably a good size. Plus it's probably wouldn't take a lot of work for him since his body mold is straight up almost naked.

Thanks gil. I was thinking the same thing with his shoulders and biceps. I'll probably wait on it. And that's a good point about Broly's value. It seems it will only go up from here.

i agree with gil. if anything i would use android 16 as a base once its release. Some of the armor shapes are all ready done and you can bulk him up which would be easier.

I've been wanting to make some customs of Goten, Trunks, kid/teen Gohan, kid Goku, and maybe even Chiaotzu. I'm scouring the internet looking for bodies that could be in scale and work with Figuarts. Would a hybrid action SS Goku work for a Gohan? For Goten and Trunks I was thinking of possibly using the new Shodo candy toys, or the 66 Action figures might be better because they're smaller? I just don't know about the sizes. I can't seem to find any good reference pictures for the sizes compared to Figuarts or the older American figures. Any other possible ideas? Thanks for the help, everybody!

16 would be a good idea for Nappa! A bit tall, but at least he isn't wearing pants!

Thanks, Branjita! I was looking at some different heads, anyway, so it's nice to hear that the body is at least an ok fit. I'll keep looking around to try and find some more scale information on other bodies.

I've been cleaning the custom section and moved some recent question threads about custom bases and head sizes to this old thread that I believe is suitable for this kind of research. So going forward, go here for custom base help. Thanks!
