I need a Vegeta reissue, Im starting to get into this line, I got Gotenks, Gohan Special Color and Super Saiyan Trunks, and Im looking to get Frieza. Congratulations, you're about to have all of the best figures in the line. The rest are pretty lack-luster by comparison, at least in my opinion.

Does anyone know anything about this reissue of the SMSP Tones? It says end of August, but are they re-issuing all four, or just that one? It seems like they are releasing the SMSP Tones version as an "Overseas" version as well. I had ordered (or at least that is what I thought) the "Brush" and the "Tones" versions and the seller recently contacted me to inform me the "Brush" was the overseas version instead.... he said the tones might be the same. In other words, same figure, different box. They are still re-issuing the other four in September.

I am still waiting for confirmation from the seller, but he is not located in the USA. I assume that if they are releasing that overseas version, it should also be available in the USA. I'll post as soon as I hear something about it.

why bother making different versions of the same exact mold and character when they could make other characters.

Because reusing the same mold requires less effort and still makes money, and that's what businesses do.

If they made different characters they would make a higher profit. Not really disagreeing, but the profit would probably be around the same. They'd save money because they wouldn't have to hire a sculptor to make a different mold, wouldn't have to make different castings, wouldn't have to go through the time consuming process of getting sculpts approved. They actually save money by making one character and releasing it with different paintjobs. For example, a lot of the regular MSP Gokus used the same parts, but minor things were changed. For example, the exact same body sculpt was used for SSj Goku and regular Goku. The only thing that was changed was his head sculpt. The Trunkses used the same body, the SSjBlue Goku and Base DBS Goku used the same body. Vegetto had the same pants sculpt as the Gokus, and the arms were simply changed and the head sculpt was different. The Vegetas, Freeza, Gohan (before the recolor) and Gotenks were the only ones with entirely different sculpts than the rest of them.

If it makes around the same profit, I think it would be better to make different characters and attract more people into the line increasing the chance of making a higher profit. It just seems illogical in the buyer's point of view to have the same charcater costing +$100 and just changing the color schemes. For instance, lets say there is only one goku on the market right now, and there are 20 buyers. All the 20 buyers will buy that goku. If they make a different goku most people wont get it because they already have a goku, so lets say 3 out of 20 get it. Now if they made a Vegeta all the 20 people would buy it. A higher profit whithin each release and attracting people into collecting the line increasing their customers. You might be right though...

Because they don't care about the collectors. At the end of the day they just care about the money. They can say that they care about the collectors all day long, but most companies are money hungry, and Bandai/Banpresto are one of the worst at this. There are smaller companies out there that will really work with their customers; they'll change sculpts if the customers are unhappy, put out characters that the collectors want to see, etc. But Bandai/Banpresto definitely do not do that, and if you're a DBZ collector it really sucks because that's basically the company you're stuck with.
