Question. Can a seller cancel a winning bid for any reason? I won an auction, paid for the item, and now the seller wants more money for shipping because it's going to cost more than they thought ($6.70 more on a $10 item). This is domestic, mind you. I might be a bit more sympathetic to an international seller. Anyway, can they cancel the bid if I don't pay extra?

They had the set price and shipping on the auction, you've won that auction and paid, so now the seller is contractually obliged to send that item. At least that's how I understand how Ebay works.

The seller can cancel I believe but you will still be able to leave negative feedback I am pretty sure, so that will probably deter them from doing so

Thanks guys. I sent back a reply reminding this person of ebay's policies and that since I've already paid I can't, and am not obligated to, send more money.
If I do end up sending more money and the postage on the parcel does not say as much as he's asking for, you better believe I'll be leaving my first negative feedback in almost 100 purchases.
Last week another seller sent me a private email outside if ebay asking for more money for shipping. I ignored it but they eventually mailed the item anyway. WTH is wrong people?!

Is it something really heavy? I've had to ask for more money before, but it was years ago. If they take a picture of the receipt or something I think it's fair to pay more, but I also agree that usually my bid is dependent on knowing that shipping price. There's some dummy on eBay right now with some figuarts for a cheap buy it now and inaccurately cheap shipping rate of like 6 bucks for a small flat rate priority box (that they'd never fit in) and if they asked for more money I would be angry if I was the buyer. It would be different if it was something cheap and they were a dollar off.

The figure is big but not heavy from my understanding. In the listing they stated flat rate shipping of $10 to Canada and the US. God forbid a US buyer bought it and the seller asked for even more.

The message I sent to the seller worked! He said he's packaged 13 up and will let me know when he ships it. He also thanked me for my professional reply. No need to be a dick online just because someone doesn't keep their explicitly stated word sometimes.
