Okay. SonCockrot, listen, you had gotten down to 6% trollism. You were doing so well. Did you wake up and realize that life was getting too relaxing? Worried that people were starting to like you?
Ugh thanks for bombing my thread.
In response to your post (not your initial post as I've heard) I believe Bran's cover does my book justice just fine. In fact, he basically just designed what I had wanted. So coming from someone who actually wrote the book, it has to represent it well and does. So far, I have gotten nothing but compliments on the cover. My oldest sister wrote her first book last month and she put the design in the hands of what she thought was a professional and got a rather bland cover. My other siblings looked at our books and instantly preferred my cover style. Granted, she only spent hundreds, not thousands, and I literally paid $0....just 19 hours worth of customizing I am doing in return instead.
Why in the world would I pay thousands? Seriously, for a book cover. Yes, it's worth a thousand words, but it's 5 x 8 inches and frankly, for a book that is mostly for the ages 8-28 (everyone can enjoy it too) the cover captures a younger audience. Ever see some of the Harry Potter covers? Nothing fancy. The kid, a representational setting in the back, and title. You're thinking too much. I'd like to see you spend thousands as you say I should have. Sure, the money spent wouldn't matter if I created the next Lord of the Rings series or Hunger Games, but the fact of the matter is, I'm not expecting that. Would I prefer it? Of course! I already have the next two books written and ideas for the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th planned. And no one would deem this cover as failing to make it to the beginning level the series is at.
The opinion of a fan is more noteworthy than an opinion of a wannabee-critique who woke up on the wrong side of the bed. I'm sure my book will get negative feedback, of the real kind, whether about the plot, characters, the tournament style I chose from DB, or whatever, but that's part of it as you said. So far, I've only heard good things about the artwork. People even want posters of it...
Anyways, I hope your time is well served and you return like an Uub.
