SSJ Goku was my first, followed by Datong Vegeta. Since then I've managed to get a lot of the more expensive figures like Cell, Frieza and Broly. Now I have:
SSJ Goku, Cell, Frieza, Broly, Vegetto, Teen Gohan re-issue, Ultimate Gohan, Datong SSJ Vegeta, Datong Base Goku, and Datong Scouter Vegeta.
just ordered another Teen Gohan to do a custom battle damaged look, and 2 more SSJ Vegeta's to customise.
Getting Piccolo re-issue and #18 off my gf for xmas, cant wait!

The box looks pretty awesome. Are you going to have it fully printed out on cardboard stock to fold it up or just make decals to put over a different box? I'm thinking decals. I honestly have no idea where to begin with this stuff. I literally just got an idea in my head and then started measuring the box and creating layouts in photoshop. I'm sure I'll find something online for custom decals to be printed or how to make them myself. Here's where I'm at right now. Threw in a pic of MV in the plastic box to see how it would look.

More work on the box art The white space shows the box window. The block of solid colour on the left is just excess I can trim away. I'm going to design the sides and back of the box separately too.

Working on my box art for my custom Majin vegeta. The halftone effect was so difficult to get, doesnt look right small but click for the larger image to see the effect better. I'm still not a hundred percent happy with it but it's getting there. Just deciding on a colour scheme for the box. I'm thinking blue and platinum blonde right now.

Hi everyone, im looking to make a custom ShFiguart yardrat Goku but cannot seem to find points to the right direction. Im wondering as to how I will be able to sculpt the upper torso. As well as what paint I could use. Im also considering a Majin Vegeta, battle damaged or not. To start with make sure you have plenty of reference pics of the outfit you want to make. Check whether or not the outfit on the figure can just be painted over or if you need to sculpt over it. If you need to resculpt then consider sanding off the outfits details with a dremel hand tool so you have a flat base to work on. You'll need to prep the figure for any sculpting so that means giving the figure a quick warm water soapy wash to get rid of any factory oils on the paint job, and also give the area you'll be sculpting on a light sanding down. This will help your sculpting medium adhere to the figure better. After that it's just a case of taking your time, going back to your reference pics when needed, and adding pieces to the figure. For sculpting I have used milliput in the past which is an epoxy putty. I've heard good things about Aves epoxy so I've ordered some of that to try. Through trial and error I'm sure you'll find a medium you prefer. And for paints you will really want to invest in some good acrylic paints made for miniature modelling like citadel, tamiya, or mr hobby. Regular acrylic you might use for painting a picture isn't very durable and will chip or rub off easily. Check youtube out too, there's lots of cool vids on figure customising out there.

My current collection. Some bootlegs and my customs included. Still got the boxes and they'll be kept in them until I get a proper display cabinet for them. One of my scouter vegetas will either be a jeice custom or turned into namek saga vegeta. Piccolo and Android 18 will be xmas presents. I'm hoping for ultimate gohan this month, and then I'll try and pick up some of the older figures until the advance colours come out. Attachment Deleted

I'm still getting it. At that price I can't complain. No way am I shelling out £250+ for the original so this will do for me. I'm just glad to get him in my collection.

so you get the preorder more or less the next month? Or is 15 in days? Well i'll be pre-ordering from Nippon Yasan as soon as he's up. Not sure when he'll go up at NA stores. I only started collecting SH Figuarts this month, so missed out on both Vegeta and Trunks first time around. Hoping to see SSJ3 Goku next........... Yup I'm hoping to catch Trunks on Nippon too. Just hope I get to pre-order in time. I missed out on the awakening SSJ Goku from there. I have got Vegeta on pre-order though.

Yeah it's not the da tong version, its the cheaper bootleg which I wasn't aware existed. I've swapped the arms round and also added the sleeves back on and it does look a lot better. Just waiting for Branjita to do some more emblem sheets and I can call it finished. Ordered some paints you suggested last night too so I think both customs will be due a make over when they arrive. And hopefully my new da tong saiyan armour vegeta will arrive soon so I can either do namek vegeta or a jeice custom

nice work ssjgrintygood job on the feet personally i would have left the shirt sleeves on and maybe taken a little more off them apart from just the t shirt bits also i think you got the arms the wrong way cause the peg holes are showing at the front, or maybe thats how the bootleg was? i might have misinterpreted your question on my thread so just in case: thers no easy way to match up the colours to the existing ones, in some cases it may be easier to just blitz the original colour with your own to save any obvious mismatch Yeah I've still got the shirt sleeves so I can put them back on if needs be, and I think the arms were put on the wrong with to begin with. The Hips were backwards so I had to swap the legs. Thanks for the advice Painting is the hardest part of customising for me right now.

Goku w/o weighted clothes done. At least until I can get some decals from Bran Really enjoying customising figures. Almost as fun as collecting them! Think I'm going to resculpt the chest on my Majin Vegeta next. Then probably buy a bootleg saiyan saga Vegeta and try making a Jeice like I saw in some thread on here. Very cool! Let me know what you guys think

Yeah I'm trying to learn more colour theory for mixing. Theres a lot to take in though lol. Thought it would be easier to know what specific colours were used for mixing, cadmium red, lemon yellow etc.
