So, do I get this right? I could buy 4 boxes for $13 each and could end up with 4 of the shenron explosion effect pieces?

Those bootleggers really deserve some credit. It never occured to me that a simple brown piece of string could make a saiyan tail for 5" figures.

Apparently the figures have been released these days at some selected Walmarts. MORE INFOIn addition to the regular 11 figures and the BAF Shenron, some exclusives have been added. What are the "random prototypes"? Does the "1/48" of the metallic SS Goku and the "1/96" of the metallic Trunks mean that there are only 48 and 96 pieces respectivley worldwide or does this imply that there is a 1:48 and 1:96 chance to get one? I hope someone's got some more details.

The line is actually called "Micro Collection in Box" or "マイクロ コレクション イン ボックス". Here's the lineup of the second set. As far as I know, the Goku from the first set is around 4 cm in height.

The actual title of this series is "Figure in Box" or "フィジュア IN ボックス" in japanese. Sounds amazingly creative doesn't it? The series was released in 2007 and consists of 5 characters. Krillin, SS3 Goku, Final Form Frieza, SS2 Gohan and SS Goten. The lineup is as creative as the name. Unfortunately they are relativly hard to come by nowadays. On ebay, you can get Frieza and Gohan right now.

Duuuude ... This beast just looks fantastic. Why did you remove the base?
As for the SS4 Vegeta, is it custom as well?

This Metal Cooler is definitely one of my favorite customs of yours so far. Great work. Can't wait too see the other 999 Metal Coolers.

They both wore this outfit combination when Krillin joined Goku and Bulma on their Dragonball hunt during the Red Ribbon saga. Additionaly, they both appeared like this on the cover of the second Dragonball Movie "Sleeping Princess/Beauty in Devil's Castle". In the movie itself, Goku is still waering his blue Gi. The figure itself is based on this artwork. As you've already said, Goku is always having the "Kame" logo on his gi, which he is missing on the figure. As a child, he never wore the orange gi without any logo.

It's lame that Golden Frieza wasn't painted entirely in metallic paint. He looks really weird the way they did him. His hips are funny looking too. Agreed. This line has so much potential but they keep doing cheap short cuts like this.. On the other hand they at least delivered a really nice Kamikaze Ghost with Gotenks. Kudos for that.

Very nice A17. Finally got him in my collection and fits perfectly with the others. Now all I just want is a good A19 to complete the most popular Androids. Great size comparison. Now I really feel like getting that SCultures Android 20. What 18 is that?

It's a real shame that the first wave with Super Saiyan God Goku does not scale at all with the rest of the line.

So the Shenron turns out to be a Build-A-Figure ... any idea how the pieces will be distributed? I really don't want to get all 11 characters and end up with 11 Shenron legs.

The paint jobs are really not much of a surprise. Can't wait to see some pictures of the real deal. For me, Piccolo is clearly stealing the show so far.

The figures itself are really beatiful and I think it's really refreshing to have a line that focuses on artwork and not only on Goku in his orange Gi, epic super saiyans or angry characters in cool fighting poses.
Unfortunately I feel that the line is not worth the money ... the sculpt and paint job is great but the size is not really impressive and some of the pieces are just too fragile. I already have broken parts on Gokus bike and the dinosaur.
I prefer the Mecha Collection as an alternative.

What a huge disappointment. We got 3 characters in the SMSP line ... battle damaged Frieza saga SS Goku, generic SS Vegeta and battle damaged Frieza saga SS Goku. Way to waste a great potential. Maybe it turns out to be not part of the SMSP line but a new/different line.
At least the base is a nice touch. But apparently they can not even be bothered to put a different number of stars in the dragonball which refers to the number of the color version....
