I was at toys r us yesterday and I found figuarts. At first all I saw was xenoverse trunks but then I went around the corner and there is a whole section of figuarts. The only other dragonball was the new vegeta but they also have other figures and effects. I took pics but having trouble uploading them from my phone

Hey guys sorry if this topic has been done but I just watched the latest episode of part 3 and it was amazing!
Anyone familiar with this series knows there is a huge and sudden change in direction after part 2. The first two parts of the series (phantom blood and battle tendancy) focus on hamon energy which is very similar to dragon ball ki. After that things change.
Stands (a spirit manifestation of sorts) becomes the primary means of combat. After seeing the first two parts I couldn't get enough and part 3 had not yet been.dubbed so I started reading the manga. I was very dissapointed with the new direction the story was taking and I never finished reading it.
However, toonami recently started airing part 3 and although the first few episodes are a bit slow this latest episode (silver chariot) completely blew me away. If you have not seen this show you should check it out.
Any jojo fans here? Whats your favorite part? Did the change in direction turn you away or did you find it to be better?

Interesting. I don't think I've seen these prototypes before and if I have its been many years.
Piccolo and ginyu look the same, ginyu is just position oddly to fit in the packaging. Frieza's blow up doll mouth I guess is because they changed the blast to his mouth rather than his hand but it does seem odd. I don't recall anyone other than nappa and buu shooting energy blast from their mouth.
I have all the old beckett magazines somewhere. There might.be something in there about this. Ill see what I can find.
Do you own any of these? I really like the ones I have (ginyu, piccolo, frieza). Ginyu is my favorite of this line.

Wow! Im just now seeing this. I have resisted this line for the longest time but db is my favorite part of the story and I honestly don't think I can pass this up especially if they make more dragonball characters.
A telescopic powerpole would be awesome. Idk how practical that would be but if it can be done it would probably be the best accessory I've seen for any toy ever.

Thesupernamekian, I apologize for derailing your thread. I will delete my posts that add nothing of value and I'll keep future discussion to the topic at hand.
And ikki, I know we have had our differences here but in the future I hope that we can discuss figures without this incident being a factor. Bran is right. We are all on the same team, the dbf team.

I remember when these came out. Never was a fan and that reverse buu annoyed me but not as much as how the base figure was so much smaller than the shell, which it had to be but I think these could've been decent with more fitting character selections. The only one that made sense from a size standpoint was trunks into super trunks.
kid buu in a super buu shell (still reverse but a small character to a big one) First form frieza in a 2nd form shell Broly in a legendary ss shell
Those would have been a lot better character choices for this particular gimmick imo but they still probably would have not been very popular

Probably lol but iirc he was also notoriously hard to pop. Supernamekien, what method did you plan to use to tighten the shoulder? Couldn't you apply clear nail polish to the loose joint without opening him up?

I dont really have anything of value to add just wanted to say that my son managed to perfectly pop open striking z piccolo which I had tried myself in the past using various methods with zero success. He's only 2 so maybe let a small child play with the figure? Lol

Just found vegeta and beerus at toys r us tonight. While vegeta looks a little off beerus is amazing. I only got beerus and I can upload pics if anyone wants a scale comparison. He is a little tall for 5" scale but it's not too bad and he would be easy enough to shorten at the shins if you felt the need to do so. The back of the box shows the next wave which will be ss vegeta, base goku, and Frieza (possibility of golden frieza variant??). Really happy to see these. I hope they sell enough to justify making more as I have been waiting for a north american line since jakks stopped. I couldn't agree with you more on the long wait! The Vegeta is definitely a little off, but I honestly don't think he looks too bad (especially that gorgeous face sculpt). I can't provide you with any in hand oics at this time, but in person that vegeta face is... Off. I plan to buy him eventually and maybe I will be able to show you what I mean (maybe not im not good at taking pics) but I know this for certain; I did not buy vegeta because I thought his face looked off. Could be a qc issue who knows

I'm going to do a pictoral review the best I can. My camera is not good and it may be hard to do this from my phone but I will do the best I can to convince the rest of you to support this line. If you want to see any pics I do not provide just ask and ill see what I can do! The hardest part is getting pics to show what I am talking about so I will go ahead and list the pros and cons and update this with pics as I go (its dark and hard to get decent pics atm). scale: (sorry I don't own any real figuarts and my Irwin goku is the one with the wonky legs, still should serve as a decent point of reference) Originally I thought he was about 5" scale maybe a tad bigger but after comparing with other figures he seems to be right in line with figuarts. Still modifying this particular figure for 5" scale should be easy Attachment DeletedArticulation: as far as I can tell he has all the same minus abdominal crunch. I do not own the figuarts version to compare but this one does include a thigh swivel in adition to the ball joint. The tail moves as well. Accessories: 2 spare hands. He has a closed and open fist for each hand. Also each figure in this line comes with a piece of shenron. Beerus comes with the 2nd most bottom piece as well as the base (which may or may not be useful for other figures). originally I said I thought frieza may be a variant in the next wave but now that Ive taken a closer look, I think it will be goku since you need his "base" figure twice to complete shenron Attachment DeletedPaint and accuracy: this figure imo fully captures the anime look. Everything looks great minus 3 small nipicks and 1 big(how widespread these issues are I do not know). 1. There is a messy spot on left shoulder where a slight bit of white paint is on the skin. 2. There is a dark purple spot on the right ear (barely noticeable). 3. Paint is chipping off both shins. 4. There is a giant hole in the back of his pants where his tail goes. I am almost certain that is not accurate but pics incoming Attachment Deleted
