I'm honestly looking forward to it. I still feel a bit strange supporting bootleg products as if they were new releases but if they continue with the hair parts I'm all for it.

(irrelevant note, now I'm getting bummed out because I'm going to have to rethink some things regarding popular opinion after that "insightful" post)
As I've said...you should have been here three years ago. I only speak for myself and I have negative opinions on Jakks figures now that I've seen Figuarts figures. Standards can change, you know. VERY LITTLE of what I say is fact and I openly admit this...EVEN when I see plenty of evidence to support one of my claims. Matter of fact I think my time on this forum is the reason why I try to speak so suggestively. Anyway...for all I know maybe you're right, maybe someone at Jakks became possessed with motivation and suddenly decided to make a completely new Recoome figure just slightly based on the Irwin figure because they knew deep down they could do better...but I highly doubt it.
I...ha. wow. I can't even keep going. I'm starting to think you're a troll. One sentence you call us all pricks, the next you claim someone lacks the ability to tell when they're being rude. I was going to say this earlier and this is all I intend to say on the pointless subject...if your goal is to make everyone become hostile towards you and completely ignore you then you're doing a great job.

pretty much. honestly I'm more bothered by the heavy shading on the hair, I can't tell if that's customized or if someone wound up with a bad hair part.

It's starting to seem like you don't want anyone to talk to you. Everyone is trying to be accommodating but it's as if you insist on turning this into something it isn't. Must I remind you where you are? A forum for Dragon...ball...figures. FIGURES. Regardless of how you feel about whatever particular figure at the end of the day it doesn't matter because we're talking about FIGURES, which we all like to discuss, that's what we're here for, but it doesn't change the fact that this is about figures. Completely inconsequential and hardly - no, NEVER worth fighting over. We aren't here to leap on other members and act hostile for no reason. The way you've been talking to me I've been ready to defend you and vouch for you with no other incentive to do so, but if that results in "f you all" then by all means, you're free to leave.
@bran I highly doubt that since this is Irwin we're talking about but I'm seeing that in my head and I bet it would've been incredible, certainly much better than the legs on the Super Buu that came out. it could be a cool custom idea, just get a Gogeta model kit (for the white pants) and sculpt until it's Super Buu, I think the height would be OK since the model kits were pretty big.
@shifty there's nothing anyone can post that can prove it as fact but I think it's a safe assumption. I mean this is Jakks we're talking about...I just don't see them going through too much trouble to make an entirely new Recoome when they already have a perfectly good prototype to modify.

Articulation is irrelevant...if you look at the last few Irwin figures they also had high articulation. Irwin was right in the middle of improving their figures and whatever improvements they made carried over to the Jakks figures. It's impossible to say which improvements but when Jakks took over they didn't start from scratch, they took a lot of things Irwin was working on and kept moving. It's the main reason why I think the Frieza figures were Irwin creations. Sure, this prototype may not be the best and looks very little like the figure Jakks sold but I have no doubt that Irwin was in the middle of improving it before the release and they had a figure prepared before the bankruptcy. Jakks likely found the prototype (and many others) and produced it. old thread where this was discussed. www.dragonballtoys.proboards.com/thread/131I didn't realize it when I first saw it but this is surprising...a set with an Irwin Super Buu and SS3 Gotenks (images of course but images of prototypes). These packs would've been incredible. Come to think of it I can easily see the final form Frieza figure and the battle damaged SS Goku in a pack like this. --- I really don't see why you feel you're being attacked. This is a simple discussion. There aren't any insults being thrown, no one is being blocked...hardly a big deal. The thing is we've all been exposed to figures better than both Irwin and Jakks figures (there are some gashapons out there that are mind blowing). You feel the Goku head isn't big, fine, it isn't like you're going to be banned for thinking that. If you like something fine, facing a differing opinion is no reason to stop liking something. Another thing is...you've been talking to customizers. We spend (maybe a bit too much time) over analyzing every small detail of these figures and some of us try to make our collections adherent to a universal scale that can be considered consistent with the anime. Goku never had a huge head in the anime so of course some people are going to focus on it. eh. I don't know what else to say.

SuperVegeta111 Funny you bring up the demand from three years ago...I was going to say it's a shame you weren't on the DragonballToys forum around that time. Thing is...I'm still not entirely sure what was made by Jakks or Irwin. Some are obvious like the Irwin remakes that Jakks made but then are some like Recoome. Jakks came out with an incredible Recoome, it was damaged but it looked great and was one of their best. Well...Irwin showed off a Recoome prototype identical to the Jakks figure in 2001. Who knows which Jakks figures used to be Irwin prototypes...but I think it's safe to say the final form Frieza and Cyborg Frieza were Irwin figures. I wouldn't be surprised if the two pack figures were actually Irwin figures. These two...these are Jakks figures, and they're mostly all I remember when I think about Jakks figures (and you have to understand, I'm almost at a point where the only DBZ figures I have are Figuarts figures). Regarding that Art of Fusion SS Goku...I really can't get over how cool it is. The Irwin head on the Mystic Gohan body, the pearlescent hair...the legs sucked but it was an awesome figure IMO.

I'm telling you guys I really think it's going to be majin vegeta. Also on another note, anyone else preorder goku from amazon? They keep pushing his release date back. I don't know...I'd be willing to bet the retooling refers to new armored boot tips for a Cell Saga SS Vegeta. If they make Majin Vegeta, awesome...I just don't see it happening.

What about them was not to your liking? Regarding series 12...just the lack of the Irwin paint job. Any other complaints I have for Jakks figures has to do with the awkward sculpts. The Art of Fusion Goku and Vegeta figures (NOT the Irwin remakes, those were incredible, the larger figures with horrible heads) immediately come to mind. Armored Krillin...Series 13 SS Vegito...ALL the GT figures...just not very satisfying. It's so weird complaining about something that happened 13 years ago but I wish Irwin had never went bankrupt. They weren't perfect either but they made some very nice figures (loved everything from Series 6 up to 11). barely read everything else but I caught a few things. I have no complaints on the skin used on Jakks figures, in fact I liked it quite a bit, I thought it looked great with the painted clothes, but I also really like the completely painted Irwin figures. The dry brushing was hit or miss but I think every figure was more enjoyable to look at when they were painted from top to bottom.

that's a bummer...I just trashed one of those Goku figures a few weeks ago. ah well. I'm at a point where I'm thinking about just adding on to an SBC belt with a little putty.

I need a bit of fodder advice...I've been discussing a recipe for a damaged Figuarts SS Goku with another member. It will be a bit similar to this one shown earlier. Now...I'm having a lot of trouble figuring out what to use for the belt. Taking the Figuarts belt, chopping it down, adding some cloth tears on top of it and then adding belt strands to it (as shown in the image above) is always an option but if something better is available I'd like to try it. I've already tried to use an SBC Goku belt but it's too small. I'd really like the belt to be pliable but I'm mainly concerned with hiding the lower ab joint under the shirt. Anyone have any ideas?

I wish Irwin had made Series 12 (Vegito, Tien, SS Gotenks, Mystic Gohan, and Super Buu). I don't think it was ever confirmed but it seems all those figures were about to be released before Irwin went bankrupt and then Jakks got their hands on them. They still came out OK (I think Irwin had the casts prepared for all of them except SS Gotenks and Jakks simply produced them) but everything after that series had a very distinct Jakks feel. I think a Jakks Future Trunks with elbow articulation could've been pretty cool...and although it would've been a cheap mash up of other parts I still would've liked a Jakks Yamcha. Outside of that...hm...Zarbon...Cooler...more five inch movie villians...I'm not sure what else I would've liked.
