Hey guys, I am new to the S.H. Figuarts line. Never had an interest in getting them until now, and was curious what are the best DBZ ones to buy? I am already planning to preorder the Fukkatsu No "F" figures, Super Warrior Awakening Ver. SS Goku, and color advanced SS Vegeta...not sure if I am going to get Trunks I'll probably wait till some official images come out for him.

Coming in at this point in the line is a pretty great time due to the new "Advanced Paint" stuff coming, since it opens a door to more older figures being more acquirable. Which figures to get mostly depends on you. Some of the best figures to me at least are Freiza, Broly, and Perfect Cell right now. Not that the others are bad in any way, these just stand out for me. I'd also recommend the pair of 18 and Krillin, as 18 comes with extra parts for Krillin so you can recreate the iconic scene where Krillin can turn off the Androids. If you're looking to pick up some on the cheap, there is a company called DaTong that you can read more about in the bootleg forum here. The short of it, they made knock off versions of Vegeta, SS Vegeta, SS3 Goku, and Trunks. They just came out with the Arlian Vegeta too (SDCC Version). They will be around 1/4 or more of the price, and are great quality for a knock off. Just avoid any other Figuarts that don't have the Toei sticker (Chinese Ver.) and aren't DaTong.

Rabbit has a great point about the Advanced color figs coming out. If you are on the fence about getting Vegeta or trunks in the advanced color you may want to pull the trigger sooner than later. This line tends to prove time and time again that if you snooze you lose, especially with figures like trunks and SSJ Vegeta that many have been holding off forever to get. Besides if you buy any figs you don't like, odds are you can get your money back out of them. For me personally, I have trunks and SSJ Vegeta, but that wont stop me from buying the advanced color ones. This hobby can consume you if you arnt careful... Coot

If I were you, I'd try getting the most expensive ones first and working you're way down from there. Reason being, that the expensive ones are only gonna get more expensive. The cheaper ones are still in the process of inflating and that takes some time. Luckily Trunks and Vegeta and essentially being re-released as these repaints so you have time to get those along with that gorgeous battle damage Goku. I would recommend like Rabbit said to get Frieza, Cell, and Broly first. It all depends on your collection goals really when it comes to figuring out what figures you should get first. Great thing about this line is that when you get a figure, you can always sell it back for more than you paid for if you decide you don't want it.

I actually suggest getting a few of the cheap figures first to make sure you actually like the figures and how they're done. That way if you don't like them, you only spent a minor amount in comparison to the more expensive figures. I always find it's better to start small with a collection before going after the "expensive" stuff because you might not be too impressed and decide against collecting the Figuarts line.
I'd suggest starting with Super Saiyan Goku, Piccolo and get SSJ Gohan while he's still around. If you like them, then move up to trying to acquire some of the ones that have gone up slightly (Android 16, 17, and 18, Broly, etc.).

I'd get Broly first. In the span of a month, he went from $60 to $90. He's gonna get more and more difficult. He's the figure that got me into the series. Luckily I pre-ordered two for $55 each.
Back when Frieza and Cell came out, they almost got me into the series, but I put it off. Two years later, I paid $100 for Frieza and $150 for Cell. Also dropped $120 for Scouter Vegeta.
I just saw a Krillin end for $100. Newest member of the $100 club. It was listed as "used for disaply".

The cheapest figure in the market now is SSJ manga Gohan. DBZFanGirl2260 I suggest you get him first and see how he is, and then after that get Vegito (Assuming he is the cheapest next to Gohan, if not get someone else after Gohan). Gohan goes for like 28 or 30 bucks in BBTS right now.

Out of all the manga releases, I'd say SSJ Goku is the best. Good size, nice sculpt, and decent paint job. Piccolo could work too since he comes with a good amount of accessories but you can't go wrong with Goku. My first was Frieza and I was astounded at the detail and articulation but that was the first figure I've owned since the Jakks/Irwin days so the bar was set pretty low

Anyways just thought gohan would be good because he is in stock and very cheap, he won't go up in price for a long time.

He has a cape too so it makes sense

The SSJ Goku is actually about $22 on Anime Island with the rerelease again this month. Could get all three manga ones now for cheap.

If you only want to get ONE figure right now, Broly/Cell are my 2 favorites in the line just for how well they came out. Broly is considerably cheaper and will only climb in cost, as he has already quite quickly. Just back in April I started collecting the line and got Piccolo/Goku/Broly for $150 shipped, can't do that now.

I'd say get the cheapest figures now (Vegito, the manga releases) and than if you decide you want more, get the more expensive figures (the androids, Broly, Goku, Krillin, SDCC exclusives) and than move to the more hard-to-get ones (Frieza, Cell, SS3 Goku etc...)
