I'm pretty baffled for the hate on this figure. Yes, it uses a Goku sculpt. Because it's Goku. Its got a new belt, that looks realistic, and looks like Gokus belt. I don't know what else people would want? Not to use a Gokus sculpt for Goku? The dislike that I have (and some others) is Tamashii's business of releasing a popular and important depiction of the main character as an event Exclusive and NOT as their "Regular"/Web Exclusive release. I'd gladly trade Ultimate Gohan as the SDCC/Mexico Exclusive and have this as the standard release.You, me and the rest of the world.. |

No worries sir! I won't rule out the release at SDCC until they announce it. It would be awesome if, in theory, it actually made exclusives MORE available to people. Kinda wishful thinking, though. |

If this figure is indeed the SDCC as well, would this be the first time that they made a new figure and not just a repaint? Anyway this could mean NEW FIGURES for SDCC releases in the future if he does become the next SDCC figure.

Joe, we would call "new" figures that used older parts "Frankenstein" (or "Frankensteined") figures. Commonly, Hasbro would use parts from older figures, mix them together, slap new paint on them and call it after a brand new character or one of the older characters they hadn't done before. Technically, this is an old mold that uses some newer parts, mainly the extra face (unless that face was released with SS Goku or is a new face with Ultimate Gohan since they "look" the same) and the new mold belt. I think calling it a brand new figure is a stretch, but it's fair to say it has some new molded pieces to it. However, the majority of the figure is a repaint. If you also think about it, it sort of makes sense from a business stand-point as well. Likely Ultimate Gohan will start being churned out after this...so you don't have to worry too much about re-calibrating machines and such when you already have that "Goku body mold" set up. |

I can't see this being the sdcc without being named as sdcc. Going on the whole repaint as an sdcc theme, my guess is that the sdcc will be a GT goku using the ssj God goku base.

I mean... he's a child in GT outside of the first episode if I recall. Then the only time he gets his adult body back is in SSJ 4. Am I thinking of something else? |

If I had to guess, he was referring to adult Goku before he gets transformed into a child. I would think to have a repaint like that would be somewhat soon considering the figure it would be based off of wont be released until after the SDCC. Unless they can make a really poppy/flashy looking Cell, I cant really think of what I would really want to see for the SDCC in regards to repaints. Coot |
