Oh and FTR, here are the current votes after one day. This is a completely free poll where you can pick any 2 releases you want (we implemented 2 instead of 1 choice mainly to facilitate duos initially). There's nothing unfair or idiotic about it. All sorts of people vote (except they're all internet dwellers, obv).
Kid Buu/Mystic Gohan Majin Vegeta/Kid Buu Majin Vegeta/Mystic Gohan Super Buu/Android 16 Gohan (Bojack movie)/Trunks (Bojack movie) Vegito/Mystic Gohan Kid Buu/Cell 1F Majin Vegeta/SSJ4 Vegeta Kid Buu/Android 18 Mystic Gohan/Majin Vegeta Broly/Janemba (FF) Raditz/ long hair Trunks Android 17/Android 18 Long hair, armoured Trunks/17&18 2-pack Kid Buu/Majin Vegeta Kid Buu/Broly Long hair, armoured Trunks/Majin Vegeta Mystic Gohan/Broly Long hair, armoured Trunks/Kid Buu Bulma/Battle damage Goku (ssj+norm hair) Ss4 Goku/Bulma Bardock/ssj2 Goku 19+20 2-pack/1f Cell Kid Gohan/ Tien Kid Buu/ Great Saiyaman Adult(Tournament) Gohan/Cooler Goten+Trunks 2-pack/Gotenks
Agree or disagree with the results, nothing is restricting people. It's by far imo the most interesting form for a poll.

I wouldn't boycott krillin but the only reason i get two krillin is to have someone make a custom bojack gohan granted if they are the same height. The the only reason vegeta is 300 + right now is because every decided the wanted trunks in saiyan armor. He was the cheapest for the longest time so. But nappa was only show because of us input and if that's the case they could make a limited run on him for the us market I'm pretty we would get him ... The same way with the twins 17 would have been perfect for piccolo.

Trunks (Bojack) would be awesome, especially if they include a normal long and a long SS hair as well the option to take off the sleeveless jacket.

I just don't understand, if bandai really wanted to cash in on the line with minimal effort and risk I don't see y they wouldn't just rerelease ss vegeta like they did ss goku which I'm betting $ they will eventually do it's just a matter of time. Also under that same line of thought they could easily make multiple versions of characters that are already released using basically the same mold they used on the original by making said character battle damaged or in a slightly different outfit or just add some stuff to the original release like an effect piece or extra faces or heads etc. And then call it a special version of the original lol

I locked this topic last evening because it was turning into an argument. Silrean and Brown, don't do that. I cleaned it up and it's reopened. The Goku sure looks neat. It's nice to see Krillin directly next to him. Krillin is obviously to scale with Vegeta, Goku, SS Goku, SS Vegeta, and SS Gohan so the guys wanting to make Bojack movie versions of Gohan will probably be happy. Concerning boycotting buying Krillin, that's a dumb idea, because the way to show that we want non-Saiyan characters is by buying the non-Saiyan characters! It's just a shame that Krillin was made first (just from my perspective) as he's kind of a polar character to some. Meaning, some people really like him, some people really don't like him. I'm not that fond of Krillin. If they made Tien, I would personally think he'd be a better seller. Irwin made a bunch of Krillin figures and they were always the leftovers left on the pegs at the stores along with Great Saiyaman, but the Jakks Tien figures (except for the disappointing Trilogy one) were hot sellers and hard to find. Even though I'm not that much of a Krillin fan, I have to admit that this figure of him is INCREDIBLY better than any other Krillin figure ever released! Irwin didn't make good ones IMO, Jakks made an ok DB one, and there haven't been any articulated Japanese ones before other than some really small ones and some that were stuck in the destructo disk pose. This Vegeta looks neat and I don't recall a GOOD figure of him doing the final flash has ever been released. His scale looks pretty consistent with Trunks back there. I don't think that poll on sideshow is very useful since it, well, isn't a "poll" (you don't vote, you just write a reply) and requires work to figure out what people want, but I went ahead and joined and voted.

Agreed! If anything it's MORE of a reason to buy Krillin. I think there's little solid case to be made for a Cell saga Krillin, yet not a Tien. If they really wanted to single out Krillin they should've made his Namek or Buu period look. One could differ who to release first and Krillin is an overall more important character story wise, but seeing as this line does well, I agree they might as well do Tien too. I don't really mind if they completed it down the road with Yamcha either, but I can understand that might take a while. Also glad you did decide to vote Bran.

I would have preferred his Saiyan/Namek saga outfit too, but I understand why they went with his Cell Saga boots since most of the characters they've made are from that saga. Plus, if they made him in Saiyan/Namek Saga outfit, I'd basically have to demand a little kid Gohan figure be made to go with him. Also, I edited my post a tiny bit after you quoted, but I had another thought to share too, and that's that the reason the Irwin Krillins may not have sold that well is because they were not very good. They're all okay (except for the destructo disk one which is horrible and definitely the one that sold EXTREMELY poorly), but they are a little long armed and their heads are huge. That might have affected people from wanting to buy him, but it wasn't like he was the worst selling figure. I remember Babidi sold worse, Pui Pui definitely sold worse, and the Striking Z Fighter Great Saiyaman might have been Irwin's worst selling figure (you'd go to the stores and see him, come back a month later and he's still there! ). This Figuarts Krillin looks like it's probably almost the same size as the Irwin ones, so it's the clear winner. It might be taller, but I'm having trouble figuring that out.

I understand Saiyans sell, but like all other DBZ lines, the Figuarts will fade into dust if they keep giving you guys Trunks, Vegeta, Goku, and Gohan. Who released the most figures in a scale above 4 inches? Irwin. And who made some of the most wanted non-Saiyan characters? Irwin. Even though they skipped an orange gi Yamcha and only made plans for Tien, before Jakks released their sculpt.

I've got a neutral question for ya all. Let me state a few facts first. The line is doing well, so worries about it ending are currently ungrounded. The line caters to two markets one of which apparantly is very main hero centred. Tamashii has and continues to express a willing interest in american market interest. And lastly fan input remains below in hierarchy to their own extensive research.
Now, as fans we can speak are mind. The question is will and if so how can we be influential? The question I have is would you rather not try to be influential and accept whatever tamashii deems sellable and throws at us, or would you rather have at least some influence, possibly limited to getting a character like kid buu released or not?
Because what it comes down to is realism imo. Branjita voted in the sideshow poll and spoke words with which I agree: common traffic supports the community as a whole.
It's my strategic estimation that only numbers can make a real impact. We can each therefore choose to add to those numbers, or not. Isn't it always better to have SOME influence, then none at all? And isn't it true that if tamashii startsbtaking us into account, it opens up the door for them to do so again in the future? Once say, majin vegeta is released people can't vote for it anymore.
My concluding point in the form of a rhetorical question is isn't it smarter to join forces, make ourselves heard, in the hope that, even if this timeyour preffered character doen't make it, it might in the future? Isn't any chance of a possibility of minor characters solidified by a continual support of the line AND ANY effort by the community to gain influence!?
I urge everyone to base their choice to vote in whatever poll anywhere on your answer to these questions...

I think most of the hate Yamcha and Tien get is from fans who... 1) haven't seen DB 2) have only seen DBZ Kai and not DBZ. Kai not only cut out a lot of their scenes, but also made Yamcha in particular the butt of some (as far as I know) English dubbing-only jokes. 3) didn't grow up watching DBZ on cartoon network, and thus seeing rerun after rerun of Saiyan and Namek Sagas (as well as the movie Tree of Might) while waiting for Funimation to take over and dub episodes. It's because of #2 and #3 that I really like Tien and Yamcha. Tien is practically the most "fan likable" character in Saiyan Saga in my opinion. You get to see him do some really unusual techniques while fighting Onion and Brock (the two semi-nameless Saiyans) in the Pendulum room, show up like a badass and immediately defeat a Saibaman, fight Nappa even after losing an arm... he just completely kicked ass. Yamcha ended up volunteering to be the hero, succeeded, but then unfortunately died. In the series, as well as movie Tree of Might, he's basically the only male character in the show that actually has a relationship with a woman other than Goku who's married, so I like him for that too. He's a more well-rounded character instead of being single-minded like Tien, Vegeta, Goku, and Piccolo. It's because of #1 that I really like Yamcha best. I saw a lot of myself in his personality, and noticed in DBZ that he's often the voice of reason in the show and puts things in perspective. Unlike Krillin, who is usually the first to say "We'd only last 10 seconds in a fight with those guys", Yamcha is usually the one who really paints a picture of what's going on and/or is willing to try. He's really useful in that he's used to develop the plot and emotion. In DB he knows things about the other fighters, and tells stories. In DBZ, like when Frieza and King Cold arrived, he was the character who made their arrival actually seem like a threat. Concerning making figures of them in their DB outfits (instead of DBZ outfits)... I hope not! IF Labs made an extremely, extremely, extremely good Yamcha figure in his DB outfit (it might be to scale with Figuarts? I just measured and to the tallest part of his hair he's almost exactly 7 inches tall), and there is a Scultures figure of him in the same outfit coming out next year. Tien doesn't have any DB figures made that are large, and his appearance isn't much different from DB to DBZ, but I'd rather own a little beefier looking DBZ Tien than a skinny DB one. I'd prefer he be shirtless, but I think the green sash actually makes more sense with the rest of the figures.

I can definitely agree with all 3 points, but it still doesn't mean adults now are willing to spend 50 $ on a figure for them though... But yeah I still remember kids who immediately went for t&y during roll playing. Too bad to hear about Kai, but then again I pretty much dislike any and everything I've seen or heard from it so I couldn't care less.

I actually watched Dragon Ball Z Kai first, because I couldn't get into the original at first. I still have the same problems with the original, and really had to push myself through it. However, it didn't feel tedious at all for the "filler" episodes, because I thought those were well paced, it was the main story's pacing I had a problem with. I love all the filler, even the hated orphanage one. I watched them twice this year and still enjoyed them. That's what I miss about it. My best experience was going through Kai and then watching the "filler". I used quotes on filler, because I hate calling that, because I think they're important to the characters developments and help create the universe. I love Kai and just finished watching it for the third time this year! I liked it even more in Japanese.
Yeah you're right though. I would much rather have the Dragon Ball Z looks it's just Dragon Ball had my favorite moments of them. I can watch the series for that. I was referring to Yamacha's later look anyways, like 23rd tournament, not his early appearance. I don't want that look at all!

It's a smart idea for everyone to participate in every opportunity to voice our opinions. So I would encourage that if someone really wants a certain character, to request it. Vote in the DBF polls, tell the Pwn guy on sideshow who you want in his topic, tweet Tamashii, Facebook Bluefin... etc. I'm not going to go back and look for the exact quote, but I believe what Pwn heard from somebody he was working the event with was either taken out of context or given out of context by who told him it, and also taken out of context by many people interpreting what Pwn was reproducing. I work in marketing, and although I'm on the creative end and not the research end, I pretty much know how the research is done. To find out demand, market researchers pretty much look at EVERYTHING they can get their hands on. Specific to DBZ action figures, researchers will look at everything they can get access to and find semi-easily to arrive at what characters their target market will buy. Polls and popularity contests are really good for that, because they cut down on the amount of work the researcher has to do. It's a business, and they want to make money by making products that most of their customers will buy. Will they specifically cater to only us? No. But will they take our opinions into account? Of course. The only problem we are likely running into is that Tamashii's research team may only be in Japan. If it is, then our influence is less, as the amount of influence we have is limited to how much Bluefin will share with the Japanese portion of the company. Our polls here, particularly since I brought them to the attention of Tamashii on Twitter, are just as important as anything else for the American market though. If we had 5000 votes in them, they'd be even more important, but that's unlikely. It's unlikely they'd get any sort of results like that these days. I guarantee you that our opinions are more useful than those from random passer-bys at Comic Cons who vote in their official polls. Somebody who votes in their poll may only collect Godzilla or Power Rangers and have a vague understanding of DBZ and just decide "Oh.. I don't know, I don't want to leave this question blank, they should make Goku since he's the only name I recognize" and vote for Goku or whatever the case might be. I don't know if Bluefin gives out freebies to people who vote in their polls at the events or not, but if they give free t-shirts or something away at them, then people who don't even give a crap will vote just for a free shirt. Also, I don't remember how many choices you were allowed to vote for in their poll... wasn't it only one choice? If it was one choice, then it is no wonder Buu would be questionable to produce. There were more interesting characters in their poll than their generic "Majin Buu" choice. If you base some of the research on old video games and old Japanese action figure lines, it's very obvious which characters we'll be getting if there's a Japanese-only influence on the figures. The Japanese market has always been very focused on three things in my opinion: Saiyans, Bulma and/or Android 18 (even though they didn't make SBC figures of them), and Fat Buu. The American market has always seemed to be a bit more diversified, but with a heavy focus on Goku, Gohan, Piccolo, Vegeta, Future Trunks, and Cell.
