What's going on with Daima? The newest thing about it I can find is a trailer but all it shows is Goku eating and fighting some alien-looking new characters (some of them remind me of Bergamot, Basil, and Lavender, and some of them look a lot like Piccolo's demon children)

I just want to touch on a few points just so people don't think I'm ignoring their comments. But I'd heavily prefer if this was the last post on the subject. You're welcome to PM me if you need to, but I'd request everyone just take a step back and ask themselves if some of these topics are really appropriate for a forum children have access to about DB action figure collecting.

To be 100% honest, Roshi's behavior is something I've edited on posts in the past. Fortunately, his behavior isn't mentioned that much, because most posts on here are (naturally) about figures. And despite whether or not it exists in the manga and anime, just like how most people have progressed to not find LGBT relationships as taboo, I believe most people have (hopefully) also progressed to realize that Roshi's behavior is not acceptable. I know I laughed at his actions as a kid, but now when I watch it 25 years later, I cringe and hate it. 


I think "ethical" is the wrong word, but overall, you're somewhat covering an opinion in line with my own. But I think you sprinkled this with some rather rude language ssjtrunks. Please be mindful that there's another person on the other end of your message, and hundreds of people witnessing what you're saying to them. If the shoe were on the other foot, you'd most likely feel attacked (or at least bothered) by what you said if someone said it to you. 

Where I do agree with you is: there are definitely topics that are not appropriate for discussion here, and many of those topics are one's I'd classify as "personal" topics. And what I mean by that, is topics where if someone disagrees with another's statement, they are likely to take it personally, because it is felt as an attack. This stuff happens accidentally all the time, but we (all of us... and I don't just mean on DBF... I mean all people in the world) need to be aware that there are personal beliefs that are sensitive and held close to every person's heart. Is it appropriate for these things to be brought up on a child-friendly forum? Not usually.


The reason I wanted to address Kleo's post is because it was a gray area post, in my opinion. It had a lot of room for  interpretation (and some interpreted it very negatively), but Kleo didn't post anything blatantly inappropriate. If anyone posted a fanart image of that (which no one did), it could have been something clearly inappropriate for children to see on DBF, which is part of why I brought it up. I haven't talked about what's ok vs. not ok to talk about on here in a very long time.

Technically freedom of speech is something that the US provides wherein people have the right to speak their opinions and ideas without retaliation or punishment from the government. DBF isn't run by the government. People can mostly speak their mind here, but I have censorship on certain words because this site is supposed to be appropriate for children. I'm not going to tell anyone that they can't believe what they want to believe, but I can (and will) request that they not discuss it here, if I think it's harmful for the purpose of the site and for the harmony we try to maintain here.

Truly, this should always be a place where people can login daily/weekly/whatever to enjoy themselves and be surrounded by DB content. It isn't a place to make others feel uncomfortable, attacked, provoked, etc. It's a place to be happy and discuss DB-related stuff with other friends who are fans of the same stuff. Let's please keep it on that focus. 

I would assume they would scale with DBGT Goku and Pan.

I think Daima will be a slow seller for the first few months or year when they start making figures for it. I'd predict that they will sell poorly, and then 5-10 years down the line, if Daima continues, those first few figures (that aren't Goku) are going to be rare, expensive on the used/collector/scalper market, and hard to get. I'm not sure what the Japanese collectors think of Daima so far, but most American collectors seem to be negative about the show and/or skeptical. I'm in the skeptical group. 

In my case though, I've been collecting since 1998, so I'm not a new fan. Even if the show was amazing, I'm not sure I can urge myself to collect Daima figures, whether they are SHF, WCF, or something else. I suppose if there was an Evolve line of Daima figures that were legitimately 5 inch scale (so these kid characters would be like 2 or 3 inches tall), I'd buy them since the price is so low for Evolve... but... pre-order and pay shipping for some Daima figures? Nah...

I don't have an empty shelf for Daima, so that doesn't help. However, if they made some figures that would help me complete my DB shelf by mildly customizing them, I might buy those... 

My deepest hope is that the series will not be like so many American series. Specifically, I don't want Daima to not be canon with DB/Z/GT/S (to the extent that all of these are relatively canon with each other if you consider DBZ branching out to GT and S separately). I don't want this to be like... I don't know... X-men Evolution compared to X-men the Animated Series and X-men 97; I don't want them to start from scratch and mess with the past.

I feel like Daima will be something of historical importance as the last DB project Toriyama worked on, but that will be the only thing making me watch it. The premise doesn’t interest me much and I don’t really understand why they went for it instead of just continuing Super or remaking DB even. I’ll watch it and see. I almost definitely won’t be buying any of the figures though.
