Haha nice! After the preorder of Super 17, I had 65$ left on my card? Found another one lying around with 41 I hadn't yet spent, for a total of 107. I decided to treat myself to a Piccolo - Super Hero <3

How many figures have been released lately folliwing a survey appearance ? I may be wrong but i don't think they really follow what the surveys show.
Cui, GT protagonist trio and Super 17 come to my mind for example. Surveys have always been a good indication of future figures since they started years ago with surveys atSDCC, its not 100% chance but I would say 80% DB GT seems to be an exception. Bandai has fallen in love with that show since Daima has been anounced (the downsizing of the characters + Goku travelling in space). But otherrwise, except Cui, there is nothing left to nocitce, i would'nt call that 80%
The DB figures we've both been waiting for years are sleeping in these suvreys for such a long time.

I get your pessimism but my dude is veeeery jarring discussing this every now and then lol Tamashii goes at its own pace and they just got out of the Namek saga and new movie fever, and now they are in a GT fever, and thats fine, be patient. Even then I'm not sure they finished Namek entirely yet. |

There’s only a handful remaining that they can squeeze out of Namek: Transformed Zarbon, Battle Damage Recoome, 2nd Armor Vegeta, armorless 1st form Frieza, and mmmmmaybe King Kai even though he was more prevalent in the Saiyan Saga, he was also involved in the Frieza Saga too

Yeah, they definitely go off the survey. It was about a year or so ago the survey had the GT crew on it, now we’re getting the GT crew. I wonder if for Z they have a backlog of data from years of surveys guiding them on what to make. It’s pretty clear they intend to make every character from Z. Just gotta get through a few more Cell figures and we’ll start seeing the Buu figures we’ve all been waiting for (4 Videl variations in a row please).

It's been a while now you 're giving me the "fever" answer, by adding new fevers to that list. In 4 or 5 month you'll tell me: and now we are on a daima fever. And after that it will be another one, but as you can see, we never have a DB fever.

Yes, I cannot wait for Tonsen’s version to come out. He’s putting a lot of thought & effort into it. I am not waiting for tamashii’s version which is due for release around 3rd quarter 2027. He is also producing Trunks from Bojack Unbound. The sexy version where he rips off his jacket sleeves, not the weeb version that dyed his hair blue from DBS |

we never have a DB fever. we did have it though, it started with kid Goku and lasted til Launch, with a total of 10 figures + some event exclusives. But I'm not trying to change your mind, just giving facts of what happened haha not gonna participed on this kind of talk anymore. |

I think the issue ultimately is that the OG Dragon Ball line, didn't sell very well. I think Kid Goku did fine and Roshi is clearly in demand but, you can blame poor choices, poor scaling, the fact they were all retail and not p-bandai or, whatever but a lot of the figures just didn't sell. King Piccolo and Tao Pai Pai (who I think were pretty obvious choices), rotted on shelves, I got my tao on clearance for like $30, you can still find them on some sites (BBTS still has King Piccolo). Kid Chi-Chi and Jackie Chun ended up being pretty poor choices that also didn't really do great. I think Launch was meant to kinda be a last ditch for the DB line, a popular, obvious character that would hopefully appeal to some of the Z and beyond collectors when most of the DB line didn't to increase sales, and I don't think she did as well as they'd hoped.
Yeah, you can blame poor choices like 2 Bulmas or not doing Bandit Yamcha and 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai Goku and Chi Chi sooner. But ultimately, the figures weren't selling. I like the DB line, I want more, but I get why they haven't done more, these things are made to make money ultimately, and a lot of the DB stuff isn't even worth much on the aftermarket (Roshi is the big exception) when retail figures from around the same time like say DBS Broly or Super Buu or even newer like SSJ4 Goku shoot up in price even with rereleases.
There just isn't that much demand, I think that's why they slowed the Super releases since those were hitting diminishing returns too, it'll probably happen with GT eventually.
I think that's also why they've held off on some of the obvious sellers like they have, they need an updated Perfect Cell or a Kid Buu or an SSJ4 Gogeta once in a while to inject some interest
It sucks but, it's all business at the end of the day
