yeah me personally i learned to love and appreciate MIB figures. its more beautiful to me now than actually looking at the loose figure. if i was at least bill gate's illegitimate son ill buy two of each figures, one to open and one to play with.

There are quite a few collectors that buy 2 to have one open and one MIB. I've always been a loose collector though because I love being able to pose them how I want.

If I had the money I would buy 2 of each. The only time I have done the old one loose and one MIB was with the 30th Anniversary Star Wars figures.

Take it up another step if you are this rich.
One to display in box, one to display out of box and one to play with.

I'd have every DB character ever made for me with different variations so that I could have a full collection of figures for every episode ever made

I prefer my figures in a box if at all possible (unless the box has no window at all). Since I'm not going to be displaying him out of the box, I don't really feel a need to open it. But I might one day, just to get my hands on the figure itself. But maybe not. Most likely not.
I just like to keep the the figures as pristine as I can. But I do like the look of them still in the box tbh.

Japanese toy lines do have some incredible box layouts and designs so I can see what you mean about keeping the figures MIB.
