Dragonball Kid GokuDifficulty: 2/10 How to make: I didn't want to spend a ton of time on this custom, because I just don't have as much time as I used to. I used the body from the Bandai America 1995/1996 2.5 inch Goku figure, cut off the head, and cut off the base. I used the head from Chara Puchi Goku, and I drilled both to accept articulation, and used a peg to make it work. I repainted the hair on the head so it would be black instead of charcoal. The body was really poorly painted like all of the figures from this line--really sloppy, so I repainted the skin on the body so it would match the face, then repainted the blue to cover up the sloppy flesh, brown, red, and white colors. I didn't redo the white and only touched up the red. I didn't do the shoes. It turned out pretty cute I think, and my quest to continue making 4.5 to 5 inch scale DB characters continues! i975.photobucket.com/albums/ae234/Brangeta/IMG_4480.jpgi975.photobucket.com/albums/ae234/Brangeta/IMG_4479.jpgi975.photobucket.com/albums/ae234/Brangeta/IMG_4478.jpgi975.photobucket.com/albums/ae234/Brangeta/IMG_4477.jpgi975.photobucket.com/albums/ae234/Brangeta/IMG_4476.jpgi975.photobucket.com/albums/ae234/Brangeta/IMG_4475.jpgi975.photobucket.com/albums/ae234/Brangeta/IMG_4474.jpgi975.photobucket.com/albums/ae234/Brangeta/IMG_4473.jpgVery happy to have this group of 3 created now. He's the last Goku I plan on making for DB, so my DB Goku collection is complete! Those of you who have Magnet Action Goku will notice I used one of my stickers I designed to cover up the inaccurate white and black symbol that figure had on his shirt.

That blue Goku on the cloud was the first DB toy I ever got, way before I even knew what DB was lol. Nice job on those.

That DB Bulma custom is really awesome... mad props on her! Makes me wish IF labs could have produced more variations of dragon ball characters when they were around. Do you ever sell your customs or are they simply a hobby that eventually become part of your collection?

Bulma and kid Goku are perfection! Agreed, and it always makes me wonder why the figure/model companies choose the same designs or similar poses for characters when we the fans would like to see more diversity such as this.

Goku looks really cute! Very simple, but very effective. I love the group shot with Bulma and Oolong! The early episodes with those three are some of my favorites in the entire series.

I only sell things when I have made something better to replace something old, or I get stuck with something I purchased and it has damage that needs repainting. I do have some custom commissions that are in progress, but I don't take them on anymore, because I've been working on these commissions off and on for over a year. Only Dark Gohan has the patience for that, which is who they are all for. I don't generally enjoy doing commissions because I don't get any satisfaction out of making the customs, I just get satisfaction out of having the finished figure on my shelf .

Yeah, I can understand that... I don't have the patience for that kind of stuff period. I mean I built a few gundam models back in middle school but never got around to painting more than one of them.

That such a perfect little goku figure bran and the head looks great on him plus I always enjoy Ur paint work I don't think people know just how long a hard it can be to paint a figure really well. That figures pose is so great with one hand in his pocket it just makes for a great db goku look

Haha, thanks Shiffty, it does take a long time. To be fair, this little Goku is not up to my usual standards! I got away with using only 2 layers of blue, which is at least two fewer than I usually would use! I think that head is a big improvement over the original head. It was difficult to convince myself to take his head off. These Bandai America 1995/1996 figures are not easy to find anymore, though I don't think they are particularly valuable. When the Chara Puchi Chi Chi from cmakhk arrives, I will do the same thing to the Chi Chi. Her body is slightly larger than the DWC Chi Chi's, so it's perfect for this scale I'm trying to create.

Well I can't tell that u only used 2 coats also I saw a while back where u asked someone about how many coats of model masters it takes as I think u thought u wouldn't have to use as many coats with it and I can tell u from using both delta and masters that there really is no dofference except in the quality of the paint and by that I mean master is more durable it dosent wash off like delta and it's also goes on smother IMO. But with the lighter colors like white yellow etc I feel like it acually takes more coats of masters than of delta. I usally prefer masters to delta but it's close and I've said this before but the best paint I've ever used is/was called polly scale I think model masters acually made the paint but is was made specifically with or for army figures in mind or at least that's what I was told by a guy at a local hobby shop back in the day and u could kinda tell just by the colors they make. It sucks that masters stopped making that kind of paint cuz I swear 2 coats of almost any color and it was like putting on 4-5 of masters or delta. You can still find it on eBay but only in limited colors. I'll be sad when mine is gone. I used Polly scale on the blue red and I think green on the ss bardock I just sold on eBay.

What a fantastic head swap! That figure looks a million times better without the matted down hair, stand, and dumb expression on his face. Adorable and perfect. Great job! I'm loving your DB lineup so far, and your Goku lineup just as much!
