I have seen that myself too..... but I am way too paranoid to say it first lol. Hot Toys are the best action figures though I lost my mind when I saw the Rambo III figure from Hot Toys.
I always chalked it up to collectors with kids or collectors without.... Please don't blast me if you have awesome toys and kids, good for you and your kids.

Why is this always such a topic for argument lol. I remember I got some people mad because I was hoping for a product like this with a cheaper price point like Marvel Legends and saying the Figuarts are too expensive. TMNT, DC, Marvel, Star Wars, and more all have several lines of figures in different sizes and price points but DBZ has to be astronomically expensive and imported from Japan to be worth buying.... Why? I like Figuarts figures but they aren't perfect either, so either I can spend $20 on something less than perfect or spend $100 on something that's less than perfect..... decisions decisions. Buy what you want and can justify paying for, but why the hate over which plastic people I like more than the plastic people you like more. We are all right in our opinions. I honestly feel that it's a way for them to show off how much money they have (same as those who call Hot Toys the best action figures available and calling everything else "cheap" or "looking like bootlegs.") I may be wrong, but a lot of people I see on the internet who buy expensive things seem to borderline shame those who don't. I can only speak for myself here, but I don't make very much money but still collect Figuarts. I mainly collect figures that fit in scale-wise(or close enough) with Irwin and Jakks figures(which were hardly expensive at the time). But only one of each character/form/outfit, so I had no need for any of the figures in the first 2 series. But I'm looking forward to Hit, Zamasu, Trunks, and Fusion Zamasu. I'm not a hardcore Figuarts collector though. I skipped quite a few characters that I already had figures of, even if the Figuarts versions did look better.

Mark my words. This line will die out FAST.
Trying to be too much like Figuarts will be their downfall. Considering their scale is close to Figuarts, they are still expensive like Figuarts (40 still too much for 1 figure), have similar articulation/sculpts, and even have similar packaging....this series has NO chance to survive, and I won't be supporting it. The whole line was a bad idea, even if they look decent.
Give me basic articulation, basic sculpts, 5 inch scale, and retail it for $9.99, then we'll talk.

I agree, in a way. Making the Dragon Stars figures the same size as Figuarts was a bad business decision in a way, because it put Dragon Stars closer to being direct competition for Figuarts, which can cannibalize sales of Figuarts. What makes it kind of odd is that Bandai owns both, so they are competing with themselves. If the figures were two completely different sizes, then people wouldn't have (for example) 2 highly articulated Beerus figures to choose from to fit in with their pre-existing Figuarts collections. One for $20 that looks pretty decent and one for $40 that looks really good and comes with more stuff. So with a direct competitor, people have something to compare something else to, and that makes it like car shopping, which is bad for toy business. Let me illustrate that... using some somewhat made-up comparison rating numbers using stars. Figuarts Beerus: Price: ★★★★★ Aesthetic looks: ★★★★★ Size: ★★★★★ Articulation: ★★★★★ Durability: ★★★ Dragon Stars Beerus: Price: ★★★ Aesthetic looks: ★★★ Size: ★★★★★ Articulation: ★★★★ Durability: ★★★★★ So you have a figure that costs about half as much as the other, looks ok, is nearly the exact same size, is just lacking a little bit of articulation, and is less fragile than the more expensive option. It's basically Maserati GranTurismo ($145,000) vs. Jaguar F-type R ($99,000). The Jaguar looks similar to the Maserati, but it's inferior OR nearly equal in every measurable way, but makes up for it by being less expensive and more durable. There are rich people out there who would buy a Maserati, but because the Jaguar exists, they buy it instead, because it is "good enough" for about half the price. So instead of ending up Apples vs. Oranges, you end up with Honey Crisp Apples vs. Gala Apples. One is $2.99 a pound, the other is $0.99 a pound. One tastes amazing. One tastes alright. Which do you want to buy? One great tasting apple, or two alright tasting apples for less than half the price? I would have preferred 5 inch figures, because that way there wouldn't have been any competition for the product... people wouldn't compare them with Figuarts hardly at all... and they'd truly be Apples vs. Oranges or Mazda Miatas vs. Maserati GranTurismos. Which is to say... they would be something everybody can afford, but the Figuarts people wouldn't really be interested in, because they'd be too small to fit into their collections and they wouldn't be articulated enough to really be something so similar. With all that said, it's obvious why there's a market for Dragon Stars. There are customers who want Jaguars who have no interest in Maseratis (because they can't afford them or don't want to spend that much on fragile figures) and there are people who have Maseratis who wouldn't mind adding Jaguars into their collections. There's also a whole lot of Maserati collectors who scoff at the idea of buying a Jaguar. And then there's some of us with huge collections of 10+ year old Mazda Miatas who wish they could be customers and buy some freakin' Miatas IF ANYONE WOULD EVER MAKE US ANY! Give us some 5 inch DB Super figures Bandai!!

Could someone be so kind as to take a pic of a Irwin or Jakks Goku next to a Dragon Star Goku or Vegeta figures would be fine too. If you have figuarts , Dragon Stars and a FiguRise Model that would be awesome to see a comparison pic of the 3 lines.

Considering getting a Figuart in Canada is $100, $30 is an amazing price for the Dragon Stars as they at least do the job of being well-articulated Dragon Ball figures. The line may very well die, but it'll be because only the Figuarts line is good enough for collectors - NOT because they're bad.

Perhaps. But I never said they were bad. The decisions behind making them were bad.
