Dragon Stars - (Dragon Ball Super figures released in US)

I don't normally buy Dragon Stars but that Omega Shenron is a must have especially for the size. I'm glad we're finally getting larger figures for this line. I hope they will make a King Cold.

I got the Dragon Stars Super Hero Vegeta. honestly, he's not quite as drastic of an improvement imo as the Goku was.  
Some improvements are: bit of better proportions, more crisp sculpt, a tad more in scale maybe, slightly improved range in the neck, legs, and waist (not much in the waist though)
However, one major con is that the ankles now have worse range than prior Vegeta, they sculpted a bit of the boot up the joint and there's not enough space for it to move much, unlike Goku where they actually made more room for it.

I no longer have most my Dragon Stars Vegeta figures, so I had to compare against the only other one i still have, the Power Up Pack one.

I tried swapping heads between the two as well, it only kinda works. Might be good for a Majin Vegeta, but now that they have the body it's only a matter of time before they make one.

Also ordered Gohan, he's supposed to be here tomorrow, so expect some pics/review of that too lol

Yeah, that actually kind of ends up bringing up a good question, because previously bigger figures were either a build figure or were smaller to fit in a regular retail box, which meant more often than not they were around 5 inch scale.

However now they have Omega shenron on the way, and if the solicits are correct he's going to be bigger, which means he's probably a different sku all together.

The question is, if they do other big characters will they end up being standard releases or bigger deluxes?

Either one ends up having its caveats, on one hand if they continue to be small then they're not in scale with the dragon stars but it does give us good-sized 5-in figures.
But then, if they do make the figures going forward bigger than that means there's less figures to go well with the 5 inch lines, and a lot of the older figures are going to look really really tiny.

I think another giant character that would be great for the 9" scale would be Super Garlic Jr

Alright, had the Gammas arrive today. Mini review.

Boxes are your standard Dragon Stars.





Naturally both Gammas are basically the same body mould and accessories aside from the heads and paint apps. Guns can store away decently enough although the holster does mess with being able to get their right arms down by their side.








Range of articulation in the elbows and knees is very good. Sadly though due to the skirts the range on the hips is limited despite using drop down hips like old Figuarts. They're not hard plastic but definitely not as soft as soft rubber usually is on other figures that use it. Ankles are also terrible and basically have next to no range at all apart from some bare movement going forward and back.





Overall they're an okay set of figures. Probably the weakest in comparison to the other Super Hero Dragon Stars figures but if you really want the characters and can't afford the Figuarts then they will do the job okay enough. Just don't expect any great posing out of them.
