Geez I'm tired of all the Gokus....
Reminds me of how the Legend of Zelda only gets Link crap.

You know, that 2.0 Goku head is leaps and bounds better than the 1.0 Goku, but I'm starting to sour on the Dragon Stars line. First, they announce the SDCC Super Saiyan Broly, which is fine and all since it's an exclusive, but it's a bit irritating that I had to spend $120+ on six figures to complete his Build-A-Figure. Second, they announce 2.0 Goku, which means the 1.0 Goku is now obsolete. Do I really want to spend another $20+ just for a better Goku head? And third, a lot of their waves include either a Goku or Vegeta. Give me more unique characters and quit rehashing the same ones over and over again.
I've never collected the Figuarts figures due to their cost, but with Piccolo 2.0 and Bardock on the way, I may just have to jump on their bandwagon. And once I do, I'm afraid I'll love them too much to ever want to go back to collecting the inferior Dragon Star figures. RIP my wallet.

I'm under the impression that the next wave is going to be Goku V2, Vegeta V2 (similar to the SS and SSB one but with black hair), and Gotenks. I'm not clear on whether that wave is 17 or 18. Amazon has Janemba's wave labeled as 18, while Entertainment Earth labels it 17.
I'd rather see new characters too, but you have to keep in mind that there are kids/teens/new fans buying this line of figures who wouldn't dare buy Figuarts because of the price of them, and thinking about it from that perspective, I would have been upset ~18 years ago if Irwin wasn't making both a SS Vegeta and a non-SS Vegeta, and I was having to buy two SS Vegetas and repaint the hair myself. The Dragon Stars line is kind of cool in that they use darker colors for the clothing on non-SS characters just like the show did. Jakks, in particular, was not very good/consistent about that at all, and I don't recall Irwin recognizing that fact much either.
Anyway, with that said, I hope that this will bring us closer to the end of recycled Gokus and Vegetas. I assume we're at the end of versions of these characters they can make. And with luck, and hope, they will start producing characters that have not yet been produced in this line. A Tournament of Power Tien and Master Roshi, for example, are very much needed, as well as Android 17 and 18 in their ToP clothing. There are a lot of opportunities to make people very happy!
Also, if anyone would seriously collects this line (buys every figure) would like to volunteer to make a Dragon Stars checklist, I am looking for someone to volunteer to do so. This line is obviously successful and will continue for quite some time, and with approximately 57 characters in the line already, this checklist needs to be made before we can no longer find the release dates (or even release years) for the characters. That's a regret we have with the Irwin and Jakks figures, so let's learn from our mistakes.

I decided to buy him. He was $38.98 after tax and shipping. That's at least $17 cheaper than the BAF version sells for right now on ebay, so quite a bit of a bargain.

I'm no customizer, so I'd suck at trying my hand to make a Super Saiyan version of anything off of a base form, but when you have Ultra Instinct Goku and Instinct Goku (Sign), followed by 2.0 Goku, it gets a little irritating when there are so many other characters that deserve attention. That's one area where I think Figuarts is finally starting to excel when you look at their recent lineup of announcements with the likes of the entire Ginyu Force, Bardock and Cooler. Just a little more variety from Bandai in their Dragon Stars line is all I ask.

After my mini-rant last night, I decided to buy Broly too. (Thanks for the side-by-side comparison, Branjita!) I also ordered the Final Blast Super Saiyan Goku & Cell and the Figure-Rise Standard Frieza since he's on sale and I still needed to add him to my Figure-Rise collection. Just curious though as to Bluefin's shipping time-frame. Since I've never ordered from them before and since some of my order includes event exclusives, when do they typically ship?

I'm not sure when they ship. This is my first time ordering from their site.

The shading on his skin is VERY well done. I like the skin on the Event Exclusive better than the skin on the BAF. I haven't decided if his clothes are shaded or if it's just the pearl/metallic paint that is making it look slightly shaded. I haven't removed mine from the box yet... trying to decide which I'd rather keep for my collection... the exclusive... or my '93 SBC Broly. I'm not a variation collector, and I only need one for a stand-in for Movies 8 and 10. I do like the BAF the best of the three though, even if his jewels have a hint of purple to the blue.
To be honest, I'm going to have to rewatch the Broly movies and see just how green tinted his hair actually was or if his clothes were a different shade in one of the movies. That'll help me make my decision on who to keep. It's very obvious that Broly's forearms, boots, and necklace were supposed to be shiny gold, so that's one strike against SBC Broly. I don't know which movie some of these screenshots and cels I've saved over the years are from, they might all be from movie 8, but in some of them, his waist wrap is clearly burgundy and not red. He also doesn't wear silver pants, so that's a strike against the event exclusive.

These scans of the daizenshuus (or some other, similar books) show Broly being differently colored in the movies. Neither one really has green hair though...

If you could swap their hair, I think you'd have close to the perfect Super Saiyan Broly when it comes to the Dragon Stars line. As for his clothes being shaded, I think they are, but like you it's hard to tell with the metallic paint. His silver pants I just chalk up to that being the color they had to go with to try and get the metallic white they were going for. When it comes to Broly's green hair, and maybe it's just been so long since I've seen movies 8 and 10 that I need to go rewatch them, but I never remember him ever having green hair. I feel as if that didn't really become a thing until the new Super movie dropped a couple of years ago.

Namekian Dragon it definitely had a green tint to it in the first movie, but it was still bleach blonde colored. It was just green tinted compared to everybody he was fighting.
