Dragon Stars - (Dragon Ball Super figures released in US)

I'm not sure I like the cape on S.S. Gohan. Looks like crap and like a bootleg, shape-wise. Krillin is easily the best one.

I think you guys might be a little critical of these three, when they actually look a lot better than most of the figures in the line to me.

I don't think Krillin needs shoulder pads. His gi is sleeveless. Dragon Stars doesn't do the floating sleeve pieces Figuarts does on Yamcha and others. The Dragonball Evolve figures have those though.

What he would benefit from, is shins shorter than his thighs. His anatomy is a bit inhuman. For some reason most Dragon Stars figures tend to have really long shins compared to thighs. His forearms are long too. If/when I get him, I'll probably shorten the arms a little, but the legs would be too much work most likely to bother with. I'd have to see a comparison shot of him with some Figuarts to see if I'd actually want to buy him anyway. It's possible they will make him way too big. Overall though, he looks pretty good.

SS4 Gogeta looks correct to me, other than the fact his fur should be brown, not red. Before all the modern artwork/video games/DB Super: Broly movie, Gogeta's pant design was always incredibly baggy and puffy, with really tightly wound ankles/shins.


The Figure-rise model is the one that comes to my mind, as being the most inaccurate. He's wearing Goku's style of pants but in white.


For whatever reason, Gogeta's pants are supposed to be significantly baggier and wider than Goku's, by design.



I think HQ DX and Soul of Hyper Figuration are the best SS Gogetas in terms of sculpt accuracy. SS4 Gogeta's pants wouldn't be much different.



On a related note, if the Cooler form 5 figure in this line ends up being golden, then I am expecting Dragon Stars will make a Xeno Goku/Super Dragonball Heroes Goku using the same legs as the SS4 Gogeta. You can't expect Bandai to not make a Goku constantly in any series of figures. He's the main character and it's just the way things are and always have been. I really have my fingers crossed that Cooler figure next year will be white and purple though.


And as for SS Gohan's cape... I don't know what you'd expect instead. The Figuarts cape is better, but without removing it, you can't even move his arms. And from a production standpoint, the curved cape around the bottom would be expensive and difficult most likely on a much cheaper figure.


The Dragon Stars one looks very similar to all of the previous, cheaper articulated SS Gohan action figures.




I kind of think it's amazing that the Dragon Stars one actually has hair that looks like SS Gohan's hair in the anime. Jakks and Irwin both failed at that, and the SBC one was somewhat ok, except for the fact in real life the figure looks like he's wearing a fancy hat. It's pretty terrible from the back in my opinion.

Personally I think The Dragon stars Super Sayian Gohan Cape Looks Good.! It’s better than a Cloyh Cape. Also Super Sayian 4 Gogeta Looks Good.

meh i dont like it either but its still a decent krillin. wonder if you can swap torso with teen gohan.

While gogetas pants is supposed to be baggy, I dont think they captured it well by just making the groin area longer.

God forbid you make him do a wide spread stance. Itll look like an icicle hanging down.

starfirebarrage Ah, I see what you mean. I think in Krillin's case, he's ok without the sleeve caps. I assume they envision this Krillin as a DB Super one, but if not, if they were to make a Saiyan Saga or Namek Saga Gohan, I'd prefer they not give him sleeve caps either. I think it's just fine to think of them as not having sleeves.




If they end up making him about the same size as SS2 Gohan, I would assume torso swapping and such could be a great way to customize different looks. Since I assume they reuse hands a lot in the DS line (I don't own many of them, so I don't know), I assume they will scale similar to the way I sized these two pics next to each other.



Does anyone here own the SS2 Gohan? If so, could you take some comparison shots? Perhaps one of him standing straight up next to the Figuarts SS2 Gohan or Figuarts Goku? I've only seen him 1 time in Gamestop and I didn't memorize how big he is. I'm curious if he's shorter than the Figuarts SS2 Gohan... which would be good.

LarryKoopa Does that mean the DS Krillin is likely to be bigger than the Figuarts one as well? I've never seen Figuarts Krillin outside of the box I don't think.


If so, I'll just be keeping my Irwin Krillin with long arms and silly eyes there in my collection. I'll eventually just repaint his eyes and the rest of his skin so he doesn't look so incorrect.
