This isn't entirely chronological, because my memory doesn't work chronologically, but I figured some of you guys might like to know some of my history.
I've been a fan of DBZ since the day when I first started watching it on Cartoon Network in 1998. I bought tons and tons of Irwin reissued SBC and AB figures back then and actually managed to fill in the gaps and have a complete set of AB 5 inch Super Guerriers (I think I was the first on DBT to manage that, at least loose figures?). I used to be really into 2 inch AB figures since not many others were and they were inexpensive to get. Those days are over, but I still have my 2 inch figure collection and I have almost every one that exists. Again, this isn't chronological, just random tidbits about me: In 2001 I joined the original DBT message board and was member 282 or something like that, was inspired by a member named Future Trunks (a customizer) and I started customizing figures myself. Eventually I was made one of the admins of old DBT, and Despotes gave me access to do News updates on the home page, and I'd do the news from Japan updates showing upcoming figures. I also did a lot of News items related to Italian and French figures. Once Irwin started making their own sculpts, I started getting those. When they went bankrupt, I started buying the Jakks figures when they started making them several months later. Eventually, Jakks figures were no longer sold at Target or CVS/Eckerds (the two places I went to), and only Toys R Us still sold them. I stopped collecting because I wasn't close to a TRU and didn't want to buy the figures online. DBZ was no longer on Cartoon Network (I think they did show 1 episode every Saturday night) and so my interest faded a lot. At some point I needed money (I was a college student) so I sold a ton of my SBC, AB, and custom figures. I also sold almost all of my Buu Saga figures since I thought that saga was uninteresting; sold a bunch of my Cell Saga figures too (I needed money!). It really sucked because I never played with my figures and they were literally removed from the package and put on a shelf. A year or so later, I had a little bit of money and I began buying back a lot of the Irwin and Jakks figures I sold. They weren't all unplayed with and mint, but most were close. Then my interests died after 2008 because the original DBT forum died, and Mike's DBT was not doing well--barely any members transferred over. Eventually I made an account and looked around a bit, but I didn't say much or look often. I was into cars at the time and having fun on those message boards. In September 2011 when I moved (almost 2 years exactly today), it was when I was unpacking my figures and setting them back up that the collecting bug bit me again, and over the last 2 years I've spent a few thousand dollars nearly finishing my collection of both figures I have on display and figures I wanted for custom figure parts. I also began customizing again in I believe November 2011, and I've been making the best customs I've ever made and really enjoy the hobby again now that I have access to better quality sculpting materials, more space, and occasionally more time than I had in college.
I have 800+ figures with a few more still to get and a few more on the way. I ran out of space on my phone to record my DB collection, but I do have it in brand new photos below.

I'd be interested to hear what tomsaiyens thinks!
This is my Saiyan Saga portion of my shelf. Eventually, (very soon) this section is going to need more space and Porunga is going to have to find a new place to sit.
This is my Namek Saga section. This section is extremely difficult as not many figures exist, and I haven't made many customs for this saga yet. This is a bit disorganized as you'll notice I have 2 Piccolos for no reason, 2 Zarbons for no reason, and Frieza's Revenge Vegeta there for no reason. I also haven't figured out what I want to do with the frogs. This saga is so difficult to collect/customize for... it's even harder than Saiyan Saga...
This is my Future Trunks Saga, Android Saga, Cell Saga display. Not very many figures still need to be made to complete this section (but that's only because I have some works in progress displayed here). Only around... 20 more characters... okay... let's be realistic... 30 more characters; mostly females. But that's not many compared to Saiyan and Namek Sagas!
Buu Saga is the easiest to collect for, and I've mostly been focusing the past two years on customs for this saga, even though I dislike it compared to the previous three sagas...
This is my Movie Character section. It's small, and a lot of the customs I have planned go here.
This is my Dragon Ball GT section. I'm happy to say that I only have like 3 to 5 characters to make for this section! Very happy about that.
This is the start of my non-5-inch scale sections. It starts with 4.5" scale Burger King figures (so cheap and so great), goes to my small HG and similar collection, then ends with the 2 inch AB figures I like most.
These are my Soul of Hyper Figuration figures. I have a pretty random assortment from them coming in lots (I rarely purchase just ONE), so if you see a character you're interested in and want to trade, let me know. I am only looking for colored versions of Zarbon, Dodoria, Frieza form 1, and then the figures from the special Saiyan Saga Soul of Chogeki (spelling?) set I am missing. I only have three from that set. I'll only trade 1-for-1 and I will not buy unless you want $3 per figure (or less). Anyway, from those figures, you can see my DB gashapons and Ramen kits along with 4 random figures on the next row down. Then there's more of my favorite AB 2 inch figures.
This is what I call HFIL (Home For Infinite Losers). When you're a figure and you're here, it's not a good place to be. It means one of several things:
-you were purchased specifically to be customized, but you're too valuable to tear apart until I am ready to customize you
-I ended up with you and kept you because I thought you might be useful for a custom, but I don't have a plan for you yet
-I started customizing you but never finished and you need to eventually be put up for sale
-you're an old custom and I don't know what to do with you
-you're currently for sale/trade
or
-you just don't fit on any of the other shelves
These are more of the same. The models are models I'll probably never finish, so if you want any of them, make me an offer. The AB Tirelire is like my favorite item and is not for sale. The Bandai America 16 inch Goku is also for sale. He's a Best of DBZ high quality bootleg that I repainted ten years ago. I'd be happy to put fresh coats of the colors I redid on him (skin-tone, black, and white) if someone is interested for the right price. He looks fine as he is though. On the far right you can see my AB Combat Sets, original artwork by Annie Wildbear, and a pretty rare Yamcha sticker I never stuck to anything lol.
This is my Puar plush I got from KK Chung years ago, he is attached to my ceiling fan and watched me work. This Yamcha sits by my computer and watches me work too.
This is my DB collection. Lots of random things here. My favorite items in my collection are actually the boxes that the Academy models came in. They are breath taking, and I would not normally say that about packaging. I have my Academy Models, some 2.5 inch scale Bandai America figures, the 4.5" scale DB collection I am trying to put together, and then tons and tons of WCF/DWC bootlegs and Chara Puchi. Some of the items are legit, but not many. Most of the Popy are legit; all but 24 of them.
This is my next shelf. These are my 7 inch scale DB figures, my rare Mattel set, and my LED sign. You can see a few works in progress here, but not too many.
This is my customizing table.
Under my customizing table.
At least 130 partially started customs.
Other customs that are either large/heavy or delicate.
Packaging I've kept.
More, mostly AB.
Stuff I have available for sale/trade.
Stuff I have available for sale/trade and have already put on ebay. The Air Bike sold yesterday though.
