Nice call. I can totally see Cell as a Super Saiyan. Since he has the powers of Goku and Vegeta and was evenly matched with Goku during the Cell games. It wasn't till Gohan went SS2 that he was outmatched. I wonder if he went on would he have evolved like the other saiyans?

It wasn't till Gohan went SS2 that he was outmatched. I wonder if he went on would he have evolved like the other saiyans? It totally makes sense if you re-watch all the episodes. When he powers up, his aura is clearly similar to that of a Super Saiyan-like state. He is also able to transform between his regular and "SS" state at will - just like a true Super Saiyan can. When he comes back from "death" and beefs himself up to full power, that can either be interpreted as being a similar state to that of an Ascended Super Saiyan or harken back to Frieza's 100% transformation, perhaps even both. He does have both Frost Demon and Saiyan DNA in that purple blood of his, which might even be part of his Namekian heritage. Cell is SO fun! |

I too have realized the distinctive traits in Cell that have made me believe that he is a lot like Vegeta and Piccolo in the sense that if he had been given the time and opportunities, could have turned into a good guy.
Also, when Cell returns from self-destructing, that is his "Super Perfect" state which is equivalent to a Super Saiyan 2, hence why he had gained electricity in his aura and had proven to be a struggle for SS2Gohan.

Of course. Since he had saiyan dna he would also have the ability to get stronger after having a near death experience.  |

I never thought of him being super saiyan, that's an interesting observation. Its funny I've actually always thought the same thing since the first time I watched the Cell saga. I don't know if it's what Toriyama intended but I definitely think of Cell being in a super saiyan state. They definitely imply it with the aura's he's shown with. |

I do have the Irwin 17 but he's just too darn small in comparison. I was thinking of doing something with the Jakks second form Cell and 17, when they release him.

Perhaps, but I do love how Vegeta is currently displayed with 19. I'll have to buy some more stands, so I can put Vegeta in a more accurate position.
