Just going to address some things in the last few posts.
I think with new Zelda characters, it's either Impa or nothing at this point. Ghirahim was pretty popular both here and in Japan, but he's been confirmed to be an assist trophy. And like with Skull Kid during Melee and Midna during Brawl, he probably didn't become playable since he's most likely a onetime character(not counting Hyrule Warriors).
No cuts between games would sure be nice, but it's not realistic. The characters from Melee that were cut in Brawl were planned to be in at first but due to time constraints, they didn't make it(and that's with the game already getting delayed 2 or 3 times). So that's probably the case here in regards to a couple of the characters like Lucas and Wolf. They were simply low priority characters. As for the others, Sakurai has stated that because of the limitations of the 3DS it's possible that Ice Climbers wouldn't make it in. Ivysaur and Squirtle were only ever in because of Charizard, so since transformation characters were made separate(again due to the 3DS's limitations) it would make sense they would be cut as well. Snake is probably cut because Konami isn't bringing the new MGS games to the Wii U. It wouldn't make sense to basically promote a game on competing systems.
I'm fine with DLC and hoping for it. It would be made after the game already releases and would allow them to add anything that had to be cut, so I don't see the problem with it. At least Nintendo doesn't do DLC the same way some other companies do like having the content already on the disc making you have to pay just to unlock it. Brawl didn't have DLC because they didn't make it able to when they were making the game.
Also, this looks pretty cool but it's only slated for arcades in Japan right now.
