Too many Gokus, and not enough Vegetas.

Goku is the Dragon Ball's main character, we all know that. But as market and business values show...the "main character/s" always sell better than everyone else. Even if they were to release Tien and Yamcha..two secondary characters who have been with the series for a LONG time, their sale numbers will not be comparable to Goku. Why has Regular SSJ Goku been re-released numerous times? Because he sells...VERY well.
Japan is notorious for also "favoring" the main characters over the secondary ones, even more so than the West. They also favor the good guys more so that the villains. But we do it here too, look at Transformers and the countless Optimus Primes/Convoys or at G.I. Joe and how many times they've done Snake-Eyes over and over. They sell and that's why there are going to be MORE Goku's to come.
That being said, I do agree that we need more Vegetas and other secondary characters. Even more villains would be a plus. Hopefully with this renewed focus on DBZ by Tamashii we'll finally get our wishes granted.

Definitely more of an advancement than the Vegeta and Trunks repaints we're getting. For real, nothing advanced about those guys at all. Glossy lightly shaded hair and inaccurate boot tips for Vegeta smh. I hate people that say "smh" but..... Complaining because we're finally getting a re-release of Super Saiyan Vegeta (that actually looks better).....? Smh.

I already have the original Vegeta and Trunks and they look much better than these. I mean I'm happy that people that don't have em can get em but they leave a lot to be desired especially for supposedly "advanced" repaints. I'm not complaining for the sake of complaining but they do look much cheaper than the originals (less shading, duller paint job for Vegeta). This Goku though hits it out the park. It's damn near perfect.

Truth is, I'm really happy we're getting these repaints and I'll be buying them even though I already have the originals. It's just when we heard "Advance Color" we were expecting something that was actually an advancement over the originals. Instead they look very similar to the originals but with less shading and detail, which I thought would be the opposite. They just picked the wrong name for these versions. Perhaps the "Advanced Color" just means they switched to slightly better paint. Perhaps the hair glows in the dark?

I'm not complaining for the sake of complaining but they do look much cheaper than the originals (less shading, duller paint job for Vegeta). This Goku though hits it out the park. It's damn near perfect. No, they really don't. Trunk's non SS hair looks good on the original version, but both him and Vegeta's SS hair have completely overdone shading that looks bad in every photo i've seen of them. I always hated the white tipped hair, and while there some shots from the anime that show the Super Saiyans with orange shading on parts of their hair, it looks awful on the actual figures. I mentioned before when explaining what went wrong with the infamously fugly SSJ3 Goku figure, the way the characters are shaded and given detail on the show doesn't really translate well on a physical 3D object because they don't actually have an aura that casts light on them, making the shading completely nonsensical. They're better off doing a flatter paint job and let real lighting do the job. They both also have awful shading on their skin, par for how the figures looked in earlier releases and in Vegeta's case makes him look like a jersey guido cosplaying as Vegeta because it's too orange. I'll trade the shading on Vegeta's jumpsuit (along with the weird glossy finish it had) and Trunks' jacket for faces and hair that doesn't look like crap. There's a reason I don't own them, and it's only partially because of the price. If they actually looked good like Saiyan Saga Vegeta, I would have no problem spending $150+. I am currently bidding on a Saiyan Saga Vegeta with a max bid of $145 even though it's loose with no box. I don't expect to win, so i'll probably buy one of the BIN auctions with a box that are going for closer to $200. On topic, this non promotional shot of Awakening Goku shows that they're learning and not blasting aero spray paint in uneven coats to shade them, but doing a far smoother and lighter paint jshading and letting actual light cast shadows and accent the sculpted detail. Broly was a huge step up in this regard too. Stop splitting hairs, the point I was making was quite clear. We begged for it, we got it, no need to complain.
