Just a general question and i dont know where else to ask it. How do you guys extend your figures limbs? Like do you cut the limb in half then add epoxy clay and use it as a sort of glue to put the limb back together? thanks

Easiest method is to cut the limb in half, cut a piece of a hot glue stick the length you want, super glue it between the parts, and then sculpt over it and blend in. I generally save plastic I cut off figures and use that, but it isn't as easy to cut as hot glue sticks.

well I haven't actually done what Seal described but I have the general method I think...
when it comes to upper arms you undo the torso then your free to take the arms apart.. the forearms are easy anyway as you can just pull them off at the elbow joint and swap them out...
legs is more tricky I think..
im not sure on crossing vegeta and anyone elses leg joints as I haven't done it - I do know goku and piccolos knees are compatible...
the top leg joint is beyond me, it may be removeable but if it is I don't know... if Gil doesn't know I suspect 1andonly may have done it, but i'm not sure
beyond that its just the method you mentioned above of hacking up and joining together.
I don't know if that helped at all!

how important do you guys think concealing is when painting a figure. like the clear finish at the end? is it needed? can i just not do that?

Adz is right about the knee joints. Another good tip is to run them under hot water for a little bit to make the plastic softer (much easier to snap back in too). That might work for the upper hip joint but I don't know if that needs to ever be removed (?). And I'd recommend sealing the entire figure when your figure is completely dry. Testors Dullcote (brush on kind) works very well for me. (multiple thin layers works best). cleve

I consider clear extremely important when finishing a figure. I use Model Masters Flat Clear Acyrl, which you brush on. I only do 1 coat. It can be purchased from Hobby Lobby and they usually have a 40% off one item coupon on their website, so you can get it for less than the 5 or 6 dollar normal price. I used to not use anything, and I've had to go back and repaint figures from them falling and getting scratched. With the MM Flat Clear Acryl, I don't have to do that. It also gets rid of the rough, terracotta pottery texture that inexpensive acrylic paints (like Delta Ceramcoat, which I use) have when dry.

It usually takes a lot more blue than red, but I prefer to just buy the color of purple I want. Mixing Trunks' hair color can be the worst.

If it's for a custom, could you use one of the Datong SS Goku's as a base? I thought those were still cheaper. Unless, you strictly want to use only official figures.

Unless, you strictly want to use only official figures. well when the datong one cost $30 and takes 2 months to ship, i prefer just going with the official one. unfortunately, now i guess ima have to spend more >.> ugh im so mad at myself for not ordering last night
