There is a lot of dark shading on the SDCC Piccolo but you get the correct anime colors. Of course you can get the reissue now for a lot less...and I'm actually a lot happier with the manga colour version.

What do you mean by re-issue?

What do you mean by re-issue? The manga Piccolo was the very first Figuarts figure released. They are reissuing the figure for retail so you can pick it up a lot cheaper than it was selling for. Hope that kinda clears it up a bit

I think the reissue is the one I'm looking at for pre-order. It looks sick, but idk if the SDCC would be worth almost double the price.

Should I go for the regular Piccolo or the SDCC Piccolo? I like how the regular one doesn't look as glossy as the SDCC one, but that might just be the pics. SDCC Piccolo all the way. Idk what pictures you've seen, but SDCC Piccolo has an EXTREMELY matt finish, far more so than any of my other DBZ SHF's. The regular release Piccolo has a glossy, polished-looking plastic. Unless you prefer the manga colouring or you'd rather save money, I'd say go for the SDCC release. Besides occasionally the shading on the green skin (which can vary from figure to figure), I think he is painted far nicer.

That 2nd Piccolo is by far better in so many ways.
Anyhow, this is what made Irwin the best. 5 new figures every 2-3 months, even if they didn't have the modern-day articulation or the most perfect sculpts, they were still just as legit for an collector as the figuarts are. This line is the highest quality DBZ figure out there, but that comes with a major flaw and it's the same one I predicted back in 2011-12: production. It won't survive at this rate.

Those pics are both promo pics and don't really show the proper details for either of the retail versions. The red sash Piccolo looks matte in that pic as it's the prototype figure and honestly the only parts that look glossy on the retail version are the clothes, the rest is fine. The SDCC Piccolo is nearly perfect and I say nearly because the green seems a bit too dark. They're both identical aside from the colors.
oh, and one other thing for either branjita or capsulexnike...Krillin is still marked as an upcoming release in this thread.
my mistake...it seems I can finally put my mod powers to good use, I'll make the edit myself.

The paint is nothing like that on the actual releases. Trust me, I own SDCC Piccolo. His paint is NOT glossy. He's probably the most matte S.H.Figuarts figure I have from any line. If the figures looked exactly like their protoypes... SS3 Goku wouldn't look so bad. Here are pictures some reviewers and fans have taken of their regular release Piccolo: And here, for SDCC Piccolo:

Yeah, from those pics I'm liking the SDCC one. Where is the best place to buy the Figuarts from? I've been browsing toywiz.
