and i dont mean disrespect towards anyone when i say what i say, I just dont like being generalized into the the mindset of collecting based a sheer value alone

i collect them for a multitude of reasons, i dont plan to resell but i like knowing that what i have is worth money, i mean im pretty much as die hard of a fan as you can be, got a dbz tattoo, spent 1200 when i got picked and given two tickets for the world dub premiere of resurrection F in L.A. I dont collect based off of sheer value alone, but i dont disregard what i have. i like knowing that all the hard work and money i spent collecting these figures isnt going to diminish. No one likes seeing what they bought go down in value. I weigh out that if i spend a couple hundreds bucks will i ever be able to get that same return if i have an emergency and need to sell them. I also spend a fair amount on acrylic cases for them and it would be a bit of a waste of money if i could just go spend 50 bucks on an original ssj3 goku when i had already spent 250. I wouldnt say that its the last thing to come to mind is value but its far from the first.

one thing a lot of people seem to forget...not everyone has been following this line since the beginning. Recolors and reissues are essential for new collectors or for people looking to fill holes in their collections. For those who already have the figure recolors may seem cheap but it doesn't mean they shouldn't come out, or even that you need to get them. If you really think about it they are still putting out new releases at the same usual rate, they just have reissues/recolors squeezed in between them. As a collector, I don't feel cheated at all with reissues and repaints! If you're judging the value of your collection by how much money it's worth than you're probably collecting for different reasons than most of us. Yes, having rare and collectible figures is a plus and a sign of "collecting history and esteem", but people tend to forget that having MORE people buying figure lines is actually BETTER for the collecting community as a whole. Bandai-Tamashii is seeing a profit and lots of interest, as long as that continues, they will keep on making Dragon Ball Figuarts. If they stuck to their usual guns and didn't do reissues or repaints, you wouldn't see the line booming like it is now. kinda a bold statement to make, i mean who doesnt look at their collection and ponder what it might be worth? but that is besides the point. I truly dont view that it is ok to continue to re-release every figure, they havent announced they are doing that but it has been a fare amount of them and i am worried it may happen to close to all of them

Why is 16 and vegetto still lingering at retail? 17 & 18 shot up in price quick. Is it because they aren't selling or somethimg else entirely? not sure i have been slightly curious myself as 16 is actually a really well done figure, vegeto is just a great character that most people want to have in their collection. But we shall see if any other release goes down the same road

This and also the fact that the PM's are a chance to give us a different version of the character (take Vegeta for instance). So far it's only been 2 PM figures and 2 more unconfirmed. Personally I have no real problem with the PM figures (yet). The figures that have gotten/are getting PM versions are actually deserving of them (except Trunks since he was fine the way he was). Now if they start spamming us with PM figures of every character before that isn't deserving of one, that's when I'll get pissed. For me, Vegeta is great since now I can have a Cell Saga version and a BoG version to add to my display. I can also have a Cell Saga Trunks by using the Jacksdo heads and my spare Trunks heads. For Trunks, I could do without the PM since I already have two and that's all I need. Cell can also turn out great since I can replace mine with what will most likely be an anime accurate version. SSJ3 Goku will probably also turn out much better or even be a BoG version. As long as they stop here, the PM's pose no problem. I mean they COULD do Krillin and unpaint his eyes and darken up his gi but that's about it. Any other character would be a waste since the current ones are already good as is. prayerzero you gotta realize that Tamashii's stepped their game up and now is actually the best time to be in the line. As everyone else has said, we're getting plenty of new characters and also getting some improved older ones as well. Sure some of these figures may use the same parts and sculpts but that's how it is in the DB universe. A lot of characters wear the same stuff, so we really can't blame Tamashii for re-using figures. Just remember that once you make the decision to sell a figure, if you ever regret it, you'll end up losing money since you'll have to pay more. These figures just keep on rising so sell with caution and be sure you DEFINITELY don't mind giving up the figure. the advice is much appreciated, i just dont know where the line is going which is causing a bit of doubt on how they will hold up. Granted still the best figures to date as far as dragonball z goes, but i hope they dont flood the market with figures that have already been released. i do believe cell deserves one but im hearing a frieza repaint? i dont think he really needs one, sure maybe the faces were not 100% amazing but i dont think that means he needs a re-release. I dont have cell yet but i also fear with these premium releases that they will be using the same box as the battle damaged goku. Hopefully not since that box irks me more then i like to admit lol

that part does upset me and granted it might be a significant quantity increase but just re-releasing figures feels cheep to me. i would prefer to have one every couple months then a ton of re-releases. im referring to ssj3 goku, cell, vegeta, trunks. one thing a lot of people seem to forget...not everyone has been following this line since the beginning. If you really think about it they are still putting out new releases at the same usual rate, they just have reissues/recolors squeezed in between them. i suppose that is one way to look at it. I guess i just feel slightly cheated, perhaps because of my fear of loosing value in my figures, not really the reason i started collecting but i like looking at them and knowing if i have a financial crisis i can sell them off but knowing these reissues could hurt that it slightly bothers me in possible price drops. i see what your saying in people being unable to afford them since i didnt start collecting until last year. but i guess i find that to be part of the fun is seeking out that rare older figure. But it does still irk me that time is spent on reissues then on putting out figures that have had prototypes displayed. hopefully my reasoning doesnt bring any negative outlooks towards this conversation as i know it is not tamashi's fault for me paying more then what they had originally released the figure for

i would sell em off to get out of the line, just because i cant understand why they arnt making new figures, im tired of repaints and new announcements, its like nothing original is coming out, i saw beerus is confirmed but i mean reuse of goku to make gohan, the re-releases of goku after goku with the same molds. it just perplexes me on why they havent moved forward and created more charecters We're getting Ultimate Gohan, SSGSS Goku, Golden Frieza and Awakening Goku all within the next 2-3 months, I don't know what more you expect. A few months ago we were lucky to be getting one figure every 3 months! But if you mean you're frustrated that the repaints are taking up new slots, then I guess I understand. that part does upset me and granted it might be a significant quantity increase but just re-releasing figures feels cheep to me. i would prefer to have one every couple months then a ton of re-releases. im referring to ssj3 goku, cell, vegeta, trunks.

i might sell off my set with all these repaints, i mean i love collecting but its kind of ridiculous to keep re-releasing figures and then to have so many variations of a select set of characters.... just don't get anything. I'm not planning to get two color variations of the same characters in my collection. Unless it's another form of it. i would sell em off to get out of the line, just because i cant understand why they arnt making new figures, im tired of repaints and new announcements, its like nothing original is coming out, i saw beerus is confirmed but i mean reuse of goku to make gohan, the re-releases of goku after goku with the same molds. it just perplexes me on why they havent moved forward and created more charecters
