Guys, my apologies for the late reply (busy at work) but I finally picked up this Sheron and I'm so pleased with it! I know its not as 'complete' as the earlier one.
However, I really prefer this version as it looks more menacing and I really dislike the black stands on first release. The 'special' effects gives it a more 'mythically' look too!
My next target will be the Oozaru but I need to let my wallet recover...

LOL! That's how I feel now! By the way is it safe if I buy a Sheron or Oozaru from Japan? Am I correct to think that auctions selling the items should be genuine if they're from Japan?

Dude that sucks to hear about the Taki Shenron damage, that Shenron is my favorite figure of the character. Taki make some of the coolest stuff out there, I have the Taki Pilaf Machine and it's fantastic. I'd love to get Porunga as well. Bran do you mean the Hui Poi lottery Shenron? it looks completely different than the 09 Kuji, only the pose. I believe that the 09 Kuji Vegeta Oozaru was the only Oozaru to be bootlegged, not the 08 that have his arms in the air. www.ebay.com/itm/Dragonball-Z-Vegeta-Oozaru-VS-Goku-Pre-painted-Resin-Kit-35cm-super-saiyan-/220669377119The Goku oozaru has actually been bootlegged. Unfortunately when we first started collecting again, DG's brother purchased a KO one from china. The box was for the most part the same with a few subtle differences, it smelled bad and didn't fit into it's stand well. I'm assuming it came from the same factory that was popping out the bootleg shenrons. May I know how to distinguish between the KO and genuine Oozaru?
Bran - I really seriously couldn't smell anything funny with the Oozaru and Shenron! LOL!

Oh man, I feel so demoralized reading that Goku Oozaru has been bootlegged...the worse thing is I threw away the box years ago after buying it...is there any way at all to distinguish between the genuine and KO?
Curse those bootleggers!!! Makes me feel like giving up collecting DB stuff!
My oozaru is in storage but I recall that it doesn't smell and when it pegs into the base quite securely.
M5JagDragonPanzerIV - yeah, the Taki Shenron is indeed a beauty. I didn't but anymore of the Taki stuff because my priority at that time were the main creatures such as the two dragons and the apes...

Weird, did you take the Kuji one out of the box? Because I didn't know he stunk until removal. I believe there is a bootleg of the Oozaru with his fists in the air. Yup, I did take him out. Maybe the smell wasn't that bad for me? LOL! Wait there's a bootleg of the giant Oozaru? The one in the red box? Drats...but I recall reading on this board there is no bootleg for that?

I don't know of a bootleg either, you just have to be careful if buying it loose, because there is a much smaller version of Shenron in the same pose, just without as many swirling effects, and it's less than half the size! Fortunately the smaller one is much rarer. I wish I could afford the Taki one. There was one on eBay with a damaged mustache and I believe no box, but the seller wouldn't accept my offer for it. Does your bootleg kuji Shenron smell bad? I thought the smell on mine would eventually go away, but it hasn't. Smells like enamel paint that won't dry. Surprisingly the KO Shenron I bought had no smell at all. But it has the features you listed - the lack of brown on the underbelly etc. The import shop I bought it from didn't even know it was a bootleg and I believe him because I'm a regular customer and even bought the Oozaru from him too - and there's no bootleg version of that right? I'm feeling quite cheesed off with these bootlegs as its really sucking out the joy of collecting! LOL! Here's the kicker...I actually have another MISB Shenron but I haven't determined if its a KO also as its my folks' house. Most of my collection is in storage so I would really need to dig them out. I got the Taki one when it was first released so it wasn't that painful on the wallet. The break on the fender is pretty bad and even after gluing it looks bad... The Taki version is nice only because of its size but I don't like the position of the Shenron's head and the base is distracting. I think I have the Taki version of Porunga also but I didn't open him up all these years. I have been distracted by other toy lines (such as Transformers, Marvel Legends) but after picking up regular SH Figuarts normal Goku, my interest has been rekindled! LOL!

It looks authentic, and as far as I know the 09 don't have bootlegs out there. Does it have a Toei sticker? Yes, it's on the top if the box. I really appreciate the feedback and help you have given me, dude. I've been hunting for a Shenron ever since one of the fenders of my Taki Shenron broke during shipping - so cheesed off! LOL!

Thank you for the warm welcome! I appreciate the reply! So this figure has never been bootleg? I saw this at an import store in my country: Does this look original too?
