Attachment DeletedAttachment DeletedAttachment DeletedHere's Tien made from a Human Torch Marvel figure. It was my first real custom so there are a few things I would definitely do differently (i.e. joint painting, muscle sculpting, etc.). I used a Krillin head from the Figuarts line and just chisiled away some along the jaw. After looking at the Piccolo (figuarts), I'd probably use him as a base next time. The background is part of the set I'm making. Thanks for the feedback!

For the armor, I first made an aluminum wire mesh and latex sheet (very thin) and cut out the shapes of the armor. This way, I could bend it however I liked and it would still stay in place. I could also mold it around the characters without worrying about the apoxie getting all smashed up. Once I got it where I wanted it, I applied a very thin layer of apoxie sculpt to the armor (so I could make the lines it it). Attachment DeletedAttachment DeletedAttachment DeletedBecause he's going to be moving a lot, I decided to try using strong little magnets to hold his shoulder and waist armor in place, however, having the ability to move around a little without falling off or looking awkward. As for the trim of the armor, I used some very thin wires (from an old hard drive) and super glued them around the edges of the armor. This was really tough and as you can see, a little off. I'm thinking that maybe I'll create a little grove or something on the edges to make it fit cleaner. This looked so much better tho than Nappa's trim. I'll have all my process pictures on my imgur page, including Tien. Here's my imgur page that has more and better close up pics: cleve5sp.imgur.com/all/

Thanks for the info Branjita, I've been using Fix-it sculpt mostly (I guess it's similar to Apoxie Sculpt but has a longer dry time, I think). Nappa's armor was made all from Fix-it sculpt. This was pretty tough and I had a hard time making the outer edges of the flaps. So for Raditz, I decided to do the armor piece by piece. I'll make a post that describes it in better detail (with pictures)

Hey all, I'm new to this forum but I can't say enough about how great some of the member's custom DBZ figures are. I do stop motion animation and the characters I've been working on rely a lot on articulation. Here are my two most recent figures (Nappa was my first figures and Raditz is my most recent). I'll also post some photos of the process later. (I also have a Tien I made from a Marvel Legends Torch that i'll post later) Hope you like them cleve5sp Here's all three for size reference..I think I need to make Nappa a little bigger. I used an Undertaker (not sure which brand) but I still need more articulation. Attachment Deleted

Thanks! I have a long way to go but I do seem to learn something new with every custom. I'll probably re-do Nappa (still trying to figure out how to make his armor removable...)

Hey everyone, I think this is only the second forum I've ever been a part of (my only other one was for work and it was boring), but I really enjoy this site, especially the custom-made DBZ figures. I'm a huge fan of the anime and manga but the figures (specifically the S.H. Figuarts) are super. I'm also an animator and I'm working on a DBZ stop motion animation using primarily the S.H. Figuarts toys but I've also made some of my own characters and I can't wait to make more. I love looking at other customs for inspiration and I'm happy to share any techniques or figure recipes with the group (if you like my figures!). I'm not quite versed with the forum etiquette so I'll post my first custom picture here (Nappa custom and Raditz custom) and then figure out where I should post others in the future. This is a great site, thanks! cleve5sp Attachment Deleted
